I don't think Man Utd is in crisis...thats left to Liverpool.

Then again I think they are in decline from where they used to be.  They have certainly got good players but they don't intimidate like they used to.  And to add to this Rooney is playing terrible when he's actually on the pitch.

Money talks and it might not be Man City's year this year but with their buying power it can't be too far away.  Obviously Chelsea will still have cash and it seems now Arsenal will be able to do some spending as well after being financially managed well.  Man Utd still have more funds available than the bulk of the teams but unfortunately for them their main rivals seem to be better placed financially.  It used to be Champions league money was a huge thing for the top teams, and still is for some, but this is insignificant to the likes of Man City.

And as Dakey said if Man City get the decisions like in the weekend to go with all the money they will be hard to stop as their squad starts to work together.

Good points, SMV, It will get more and more difficult for everyone as times go on as EUFA and our Spineless FA have gone quiet over the proposed new rules regarding operating within your means. United have always competed at the top due to a fantastic operating earned income and continue to do so despite crippling interest payments. Arsenal have built a new stadium and continue to live on operating income that is now showing a surplus allowing Wenger to buy good players if he wants to. On the other hand you see Man City, who have just posted the biggest operating deficit in their history, some 100s of millions of pounds and it does not matter as the owners will just give a bit more of their pocket money to buy success. How can it be right that Arsenal and other clubs go to the massive expense of building new Stadia at the cost of having weaker playing squads, then along come City who play in a Stadium owned by Manchester taxpayers, the vast majority of whom are Man Utd  fans and they can buy top players with impunity and are not even forced to finance their own Stadium. I know I am on my soapbox, but no wonder the average football fan is so fed up with the administration of the game as their teams have no chance of competing fairly with these mega rich, morally bankrupt and otherwise small clubs.

Cheers Dakey

If there are no rules on spending someone is always going to be at an advantage.

Its no surprise that the teams who have made the CL over the last 10 years or more and got the cash that came with that replicated that success year after year.  Partly because they were the best teams at that time but also because the cash that came with the CL reinforced this and allowed them to distance themselves from the other teams in the Premier league.

Now its the time of the Billionaires. I have no issue with Man Citys lucky break...actually think its good to have a rival to Chelseas money.

But what I do find quite ironic is that many of these top teams are moving to a situation where none of their starting team actually come from the area.  Teams are definitely more of a franchise now and could even be moved to another city.

Of course the money allows people to see the stars of the world playing at their home ground.

Hiya lads and lasses, great to hear from more than just my good mate Dake waffling. Jeb you must have loved that one. Its hard to see where Liverpools kind break will come from.

Dakey!!!!! Manchester taxpayers money. You certainly know nothing about the stadium. You should drive past and look at the land clearance going on now we have officially taken over the tenure. A written promise already in place for world cup semi if England gets the bid.

Enjoyed my day at the seaside yesterday. Good atmosphere generated in little stadium. Not a bad side at the moment Blackpool. I personally hope they keep it going to stay up. Had Milners fine effort gone in and the linesman had not got the late corner descision wrong we would of rightly won 4-1 ( thought I'd throw that it for Dakey's benefit, sounds like his waffle ha ha.) On the day, we got the rub of the green. Very rarely happens to us. Mary should remember the totally one sided game at Sunderland. How we didn't win that. Also 18 shots on target v Blackburn. We need 5 or 6 of the injured players back. Very good very big squad. 15 players in squad from Local area or came through youth policy.

All talk on way to ground was about Rooney talking to our England players. Wouldn't he make a good understudy to Tevez if he could find his old boots??? The ones he's wearing just now seem to be Herman Munster ones. Dakey the divide is hurtling together quickerer than we ever expected. Booed off at home oh the shame. Three factions now Glazers, Fergies crew and Rooneys faithfull. All comic capers welcome

From the blue skies of Abu Dhabi  Peace and prosperity to all. And welcome back all of you.

Dave     Jay what about Sunday then x

Dave, interesting when you say 15 local or youth players in squad.  But do you expect that to decrease over the next few transfer windows?

Don't know the City squad in detail...how many of those would expect to be regular starters?

Dave, mate,

You are the king of waffle, how much has it cost you to "take over the tenure" from Manchester taxpayers? Not the 2,3,or 400 million pounds it has cost the likes of Arsenal, Sunderland and Bolton to build new stadiums or Man Utd and Newcastle to develop their existing Stadia to as new, not to mention Liverpool and Everton etc who are striving for the funding to build new to the detriment of their playing staff. The money being used to develop the land is commendable but all I am saying is BUY the stadium first like the rest of us have to!

A nice little bet is on offer at ladbrokes, which team, if any, will be the first to inflict a defeat on the crisis ridden Man Utd? in any competition, we might be waiting quite a long time for an answer to that one as we respond in our usual defiant manner to adverse press coverage.

Cheers Dakey

Hiya lads

SMV, I fully understand and agree with the point your making, once we've won our first trophy in donkeys years I'll be pushing for us to maintain our title of having the finest and most productive academy in football including local grown players. This season we have played 9 youth or academy  players in first team games. We have also continued to produce more premiership players than any other team. The fans will continue to want that.

Dakey, your arguments are getting funnier. As you well know, when Manchester were asked to host the commonwealth games, the stadium only went ahead because city agreed to turn it from a 29,000 athletics stadium into a 48,000 football stadium, city picking up the renovation tab at a time before we had new owners and little revenue capital. After 5 years the 99 year lease came under full tenure and allowed us to take over adjacent land and also continue to maintain the athletics, tennis and squah areas of Sportcity. We are at planning stage for a £500 million improvement of all the surrounding area. You are not trying to make out that Sheik Mansour is not investing in the infrastructure???????????????? We are bulding the future from every aspect of the club with facilities second to none. My own opinion being the Emirates is the only current stadium which is better.

Oh dear oh my, Wayne Rooney. "Once a blue, always a blue" takes a new twist now. Tevez and Ballottelli's understudy perhaps?

Dave,

My last word on the subject, you can skirt around it all you like, You have not bought the Stadium, you have ponced it off the council in some dodgy under the table deal. A more pressing point for your owners to solve is that they should revert it back to 29,000 capacity, then you have a chance of filling it on matchdays.

Mr Rooney has shown his true character, he is blaming everyone for his predicament and form except himself and I for one would not be sad to see him leave given his current attitude. He will then just join a long list of quality players who Sir Alex has had to put in their place and get rid of only to find that Utd keep winning trophies and they usually sink into oblivion and each time it is more satisfying than before when that inevitably happens.

I must say though Dave, there is a real buzz around the City these days and it is a much better atmosphere than having to rely on our neighbours from Liverpool to give us a decent derby game.

Your Mate always, Dakey

Well it is good to see Man City matching Man Utd and maybe just maybe, finishing above them this year in the league, But I doubt it.

As for the swipe at Man City not being able to fill the 44,000 stadium it may be true but then again I am old enough to remember Man Utd struggling to get more than 25,000 at old Trafford every week. And less than 20,000 more than twice. With probably the only exception of Liverpool every team in Britain has struggled for good attendances when they have had years without success. Liverpools turn may be very soon fingers crossed.

Also for the record Newcastle do not own their ground it is council owned. And I am sure you will find the other clubs mentioned will have had some sort of funding for their stadiums albeit local ratepayers/ taxpayers/ grants etc

The fact is, and it is a hard one for Man Utd fans to swallow, the best ground in the country has got to be the Emirates and to be honest Old Trafford does not come in the first three. Yes I have visited them all and from a nuetral point of view would rather go to Arsenal, Sunderland or Man City before even thinking about Old Trafford. Having said that I would only put Arsenal ahead of Man Utd in the entertainment stakes (on the pitch that is)

For the record Mr Rooney would be far better off in Spain as the papers do not seem to be bothered about private lives. What he has done may be wrong but at the end of the day it should stay private.

No I am not an Arsenal fan but I do enjoy their style. Looking forward to the day mighty Leeds are back to whup the lot of you. It won't be long

Regards

Kyote

Koyote'

How old are you? I am 53 and can not remember a season where we have not sold out for every league game even as the capacity has grown to 75,000. this is taking into account the 25 years when we did not win the league as well. Just to remind you in the one season when we were relegated, the season in the old 2nd division we had the highest league attendances with capacity crowds every week beating the attendances for every first division club, including Liverpool. Just because all you fickle Leeds fans deserted your club in times of adversity dont tar everyone with the same brush. Old Trafford is the 'theatre of dreams' and is the biggest, best and filled stadium in the country by a mile! [ I have, however, been accused of bias from time to time. Can you believe that?]

Not quite as old as you Dakey but as normal the average football fan  (Leeds included) never let you down claiming to be the best supporters in the land. Newcastle Utd spring to mind (They have had less than 10,000 in games not to long ago yet every geordie I speak to have not missed a game in their life. Sunderland fans also, Middlesbrough and like I said Leeds. If you are 53 and claim Manchester United have always sold out on league games in your lifetime  you need to see a doctor as I think you have an early case of alzhiemers disease.

Just google it Dakey ,the facts are on the internet

There may have been the odd game prior to the formation of the premier league that i overlooked, so I apologise for that, however, I have googled this subject and going back to 1964 we have failed to be best supported team only SIX times in 46 years. We have sold out for every home league game, except for some away fan allocation since the start of the Premier league and the games where there were only 20 odd thousand the ground was still full, it was being developed and big parts of the ground were closed.

Going forward, because of the advent of the money men and the percieved need to make a vast profit, I can see most grounds being only half full and I include UTD in that as the average working fan is priced out of his football. Until we adopt the German model with low prices meaning packed grounds the situation will only get worse for everyone.

Cheers Dakey

Hello,

a few mentions of the toon recently so coming out of the shadows to chuck in my few pennies worth.

Having a Geordie dad has led to years of suffering but one thing I always mind is checking the score and attendances in the paper as a youngster and noticing if the toon played at home they were usually in the top 2 home attendances, usually only beaten by the old firm or manu/liverpool (more recently Arsenal but what a stadium and how well run are they!), so please don't pull-up one recent crowd of 10k. This is even more of an achievement  for a small city that have another mob just spitting distance away.

p.s. ground is owned by the club, just the land it sits on is owned by the council.

Dakey I totally agree with you and I would rather spend my money at the bar and watch football on the telly. More enjoyable more comfortable and certainly more cheaper.

Michaeltwr  very sorry but the minus 10K mentioned crowd was not that recent but it is plural. Newcastle supporters have been known to be as fickle as the rest.  Also the council DO own the ground. Newcastle United payed for the new infrastructure (with lots of help) but the land it sits on and therefore the ground is owned by the council. Not really worth getting excited about and I hope one day you can finish just behind Leeds for the second champions league spot.

Dakey you are totally spot on and I think the crowds everywere in premier will start to slide however when you had the 20 odd K crowds the ground was not full. I was there for two of them. Although you are correct about the redevelopment.

Hasta luego

If crowds do slide it will be a big worry for the clubs with big grounds...nothing worse than being in a 70k capacity stadium thats only half full.

On another note I switched on the TV to watch Spurs last night thinking I had the game recorded (but had the wrong ITV channel set). Turned to the correct channel to see we were 4-0 down after 48minutes.  Nearly went to bed right then but decided to brave through what could have been a record beating.  Was really impressed with the way they stuck at it.  You could see they were getting tired in the last 15 minutes.

Gareth Bale was something special.  It was certainly worth watching.  To score the goals as he did against some pretty good opposition in those circumstances was brilliant.

If only we could fix our leaky defence and get strikers with better finishing....

Alright fellas,

Just heard Garry Muppett the former spuds centre half on Talk Sh*t Radio saying that he feels that Tottenham should be targetting Man U as the weak spot and that they could ease them out for a coverted top  4 position.

Not trying to twist the knife Dakey but that is so funny on so many levels, I had to change my very wet pants!!

Who needs Rooney he's not in same league as Jack & Cesc anyway.

And Dave he's right you your lot should really cough up and buy your ground. Big game Sunday it will be a real indicator for both our teams. Shame Jack's out for it, we'll have to rely on Fabregas instead....never mind.

Jay, we obviously want to buy stadium and all the surrounding area and negotitations are on going. Problem now is council are on to an excellent thing if we continue to build around. As I mentioned last week if England are successful with 2018 bid, we have been promised a semi. We would then be committed to 70,000 minimum. The way we're taking off just now it might be a case of"if you build it they will come".

Loved Dakey gettin wound up by our Leeds fan. Intersting point for you non mancs. City now have a waiting list for season tickets meaning basically full house signs for league games except for away end. Over in Trafford for the first time in living memory( well Dakey's anyway, there are 4,000 unsold season tickets and no waiting list???? "The divide, she is coming together, we can hear them say" Sorry for the waffle bit. Absolutely loving poor Waynes problems Would laugh my bollocks off if he walked on A webster for 5million.

SMV, Bale is superb. All of the goals were class.

Hearing a lot of mention of prices stopping people going to matches? How many of yopu lads already go or is it just what you are reading. Many premiership clubs try very hard for families and cut price tickets. Obviously some are much greedier.

Dave,

You are quite correct, instead of selling all 55,000 season tickets we sold nearly 52,000. The reason for that as you know is the growing protest at the Glazers and that will continue untill we get them out. Am I correct in saying that your sold out season ticket allocation is around 30,000 or am I being too generous there? In the most exciting and promising period in your history you are struggling to fill your 48,000 capacity council house, please dont embarass yourselves and the city of Manchester by increasing your capacity to 70,000, it would just look ridiculous half full.

Just to finish, A wet Wednesday in the credit crunch and a meaningless CL group game against poor opposition and what happens apart from extending our undefeated run without Rooney yet again? 72,600 bums on seats thats what happened, not bad for a club in crisis eh!

Congratulations to Chelsea and Arsenal for good wins and what about that hat-trick from Bale? we will have to put a bid in for him after that display.

Cheers Dakey

By struggling to fill in league games? Do you mean our current average attendance of 46000 in a stadium that holds 47340 means there are some empty seats? the maths don,t add up. Only the away sections have room. You may be thinking of previous seasons.

I,m off early to see Lech Poznan and don't want to get stuck in the crush ha ha. For some reason this tournament hasn't taken off. I'm lovin it though. Days off to Rumania, Austria Poland and Italy booked already.
