 Jay

I was feeling a bit down (went to the donut store in norwich and they were all sold out-apparantly the norwich fans were buying them all up to throw at de gea tomorrow! ) and then i heard that arsene wenger has been offered the job for life at arsenal.

Thats the best news i have heard for ages. Hope he is eternal. At least you wont have to bother buying any silver polish for a while!Bad news for the silver polish cleaner at arsenal who was hoping to be re-employed after being redundant for 8 years!

Jay,

Someone must have bought George an old joke book for his birthday or something. Law of averages says one of them will be funny some time soon. He keeps on about your lack of success but they are also some way down the same road as well. I may be getting a bit older and my marbles are not what they were, but I definately cant seem to remember much significant silverware going to the bridge in the last year or so. Can you?

Cheers, dakey

Dakey - hope you're on the mend ................ did you ask the doc whether your balance will improve once it's 100% again ?

As for footy, then haven't got a lot to say right now as I've hardly seen anything recently due to work levels and the fact i've not been arsed enough to try and get used to (or even like) the new site set-up

Did go the Everpool derby today tho. Everton got a shocking decision from Atkinson with that straight red - ruined what was looking like a nip and tuck game, with Everton nipping it uptill that point

Shampers,

Thanks for your concern over my health, nearly ok now, a couple more weeks should see me back at work.

International break gives everyone a welcome rest and us mancunians a chance to draw breath as we both set a breakneck pace. When we come back we have got three tough north west derbies on the spin so instead of beating up the southern softies that will give us some idea of actually how good we are. Either way, looking forward to it immensely.

I note that Daves visit to the other side of the World to see Scotlands egg catchers has meant that he has jinxed them as well and they are on the way home before it has got serious. He is one unlucky man in sport.

Cheers, Dakey

see you ignored the balance bit ............ anyways, from what i've been told England were an ankle tap from going out today in the wimmins egg chasing version ........... i prefer the northern egg chasing for real men ...........

went to the last ever game at The Willows a couple of weeks ago, took the old man who went for 40 years, but hadn't been for the last 30 years till this game, got seats (he'd never had a seat before) and they were that crap that none of us could physically sit in em, so at 75 he had to stand anyway (shampers shambles) ........... can't wait for the new stadium at Barton now as we get to park outside the front door due to his disabled badge - so he's gonna start going again - but expects me to pay for his last 10 years as he paid for me for my 1st 10 years - old bloke logic !!

As a little snippet, at the everpool match today i was the solitary neutral and let slip the fact that as a 'sports fan' i went to Munich v ManUre final in 99 on the Weds, then the City play off final on the sunday .......... partly to instill in myself that this was as big a difference as the 2 clubs would get (we didn't matter to each other) ............. both scored 2 goals in the last few minutes ............. just 12 years on and who would have thought that we'd both be doing the same again but neck and neck .......... we've come a long way Dakey ...........

Shampers,

With you going to the merseyside derby it meant there was almost as many City fans there than at a normal home game at Eastlands!

Off to work now ......

Just watched motd. The carrot crunchers had more chances than utd. What's going on mate???
If they had a premier league quality striker your unbeaten start would be over already. I know I keep going on about it but that is not a trophy winning back four. I believe Ive become an expert at recognising these things.

You must be concerned

Jay,

I think I have mentioned it before, We have always been solid at the back, but this new team throw that many men forward that we are going to get caught out quite a lot. The beauty of it is that we seem to be saying, Come on and have a go and we will outscore you and do you know what, I am enjoying every minute of it. If you lot are honest, so are you!

Happy with a great result  in the derby....keeps spurs on a roll.  Think they are playing good enough now to win when they're not at their best.

Don't think Arsenal or Spurs were anywhere near their best today.  Some good play but some loose stuff by both teams.  Overall think we just deserved the 3 points.

Was impressed with the Chelsea performance...of all the talk of the Manchester teams Chelsea is only 3 points behind them and I still see them as real contenders.

Alas I think the best the likes of Spurs, Liverpool, and Arsenal can realistically get is 4th.  But you never know....

Fellas,

I know things can change in an instant, but you have to say that Spurs have settled down and look a good bet for top four and I know, like Fergie that Chelsea are a big threat, I just call them shite to wind George up and he usually bites. For all their obvious talent in the squad, Am I the only one, without being biased, that thinks the bitters are a potential disaster waiting to implode and for all his hardman image, that Mancini will not be able to knit it all together?

Liverpool, Everton and City next up for us, if we are top after that little lot I will be more than happy. One plus for us is that after all these tough games at the start it must mean an easier run in at the end. Enjoy the break lads.

Cheers, Dakey

Spurs are settling down and they have a good depth in the squad....which we generally need given our injury prone players.  The big difference from other top teams is we haven't spent a lot of money on strikers, and thats the only area we are a bit thin.

If Utd are still top after your next few games it will be well deserved.  Always hard to gauge after a few games where everybody is as you can get a tough or easy draw (although Utd have played their fair share of "big" teams).  I know Spurs in 6 games have already played, Utd, City, Liverpool, and Arsenal....more than happy with 12 points after that.

The best thing I have noticed from the games I have watched is the increased attacking by the top teams and some of the football has been great to watch.  I think it was one of lampards goals in the weekend where the passing made it look so easy. Nice to watch.

Dakey lads and lasses

Other side of the world and yes yet another glorious Scottish defeat. Just for once a stuffy win would be great. Got all of the matches on nearly live. Strange phenomenon being 12 hours away. Our daughter is in Vegas and 20 hours away. Its absoluely pi****g down every day and i believe it was 28 degrees at Blackburn on Saturday.

I got an e'mail to book my 4 derby match tickets today so did it on line.

Jay it must be a really difficult start. I'm here with a good mate Derek, who's a Bolton fan. Now they have had a dodgy start. Who'd have guessed Newcastle??

Put something good on Dakey, so I've got to answer. KIA ORA C'mon City
