perhaps the big wigs at fifa rememberd when England held the matches last. They lost the cup and i think it was Pickles that found it, not the best recomendation when a dog has to win the cup.
Would we have had a better chance if we had put in a U,K bid. Or is it only England that think they can go it alone. What word is it? arogance maybe?
Spain and Portugal did better, Holland -Belgium. Think again England

Personally it doesn't mean much to me that England missed out. The times of the games would have been good I suppose.
But for the favoured bid which ticked all the boxes to only get one vote outside their own has to raise some serious questions. If they had lost in the last round that would be different. But 1/21 of the other votes??
Then to have Qatar take the next one really raises questions.
FIFA needs to stand up and state what factors they are taking into account. If you get "bonus points" for being in a region that has never hosted the cup and more if you haven't hosted it yourself then they should say this. If flat-packing your stadiums to 3rd world countries is required let everyone know. England could bring IKEA on as a bid partner next time. But to make countries like England and Aus go through all these reports and visits and get top marks and then find it doesn't help your bid is simply wrong, and whether FIFA likes it or not it gives the appearance of corruption.

Dave,
Now you can see why Fergie got rid of Tevez, he is a disruptive influence who will not accept the managers decisions, although I do love him as a player. Nice to see your team play some decent football yesterday, but one thing jumped out at me that disrupts your rythm and it is difficult to see what can be done about it.. That is every time a shot is off target and ends up in the stands it invariably lands in one of the large unoccupied areas and it takes someone ages to go in and retrieve the ball, stopping the game for about 2 minutes each time. Other than City paying people to fill up the ground I dont know what you can do about it. What do you think?
Cheers Dakey

Just got back from C D A boys and girls and had a very good weekend; highlighted by a nice round on our golf course followed by a couple of beers in a nice little pub in Alhama. By chance it just happened to be showing the Arsenal game in there. It looked as if Fulham are a seriously difficult team to beat under Hughes and Arsenal certainly had their work cut out but the man of season so far, Super Samir Nasri is really playing very well and you'll be unlikely to see a better brace than that this season. What amazes me right now is we have dropped points to 3 inferior teams at home and let in a last minute injury time equaliser at Sunderland and yet we're still top! I think we will get better when RVP gets going and after Cesc's and Thomas Vermaellen have had their rest who knows. Roll on Monday week I'm proper looking forward to it.
Have a good week

Hi Andi,
Nice to hear from you again, I am not sure who you have bracketed me with looking at your post. " dakey and friends", That can be taken two ways, the first way would be as a term of endearment as I am named personally, if so thank you. The other way is that I am not a friend, so I must be one of the muppets that have upset you, if so I apologise.
It would be nice if you started contributing again, football wise at least,as your views are always interesting even if we dont always agree. I would like to thank your club for bringing on young Wellbeck in leaps and bounds, but unfortunately his form is probably going to price him out of your range as far as buying him is concerned. For this season though he is helping you to become formidable and consistant opposition and you must be happy with how things are going up to now. Europe definately a possibility if you continue with more of the same.
Cheers, Dakey

dakey,
a term of endearment my friend, i named you personally because you keep the thread going and the others jay, dave etc seem to be your friends.
thats why i stopped coming on mate, i cant put it down in writing i always make it sound cynical . and its not what it used to be.
i sometimes come on to check out this thread and to see if there is any news on the course, dont even look at the rest anymore.

P.S. What do you think of the demise of chris hughton? being an avid scum hater, i still couldnt believe it, i thought he was doing ok and should have at least got another season, just for smashing us to bits. they never cease to amaze

Just saw they gave Pardew a 5.5 year deal.
What a kick in the teeth for Hughton. From memory I don't know what Pardew has accomplished that makes him such a good pick for manager. Everytime I see him he seems to be struggling near the relegation zone or being relegated.
Hughton got them straight back up and for a promoted team they are doing fine. The owner is in la la land if he expected them to come out and challenge for a top 4 position straight away.
Don't know what this will do for player morale...must be some thinking the boards opinion is the team is doing that bad we need a new manager.

Andi, Shane
It never surprises me that professional people who have earned probably a respect in their jobs and been successful, then go on to make the most blindingly stupid decisions whilst running football clubs. What the hell has Alan Pardew ever done in football that makes him a better bet than Chris Hughton? It just seems that once you have got your foot in the door of football management then it is just a merry go round where you fail, lose your job, then a couple of months later after a bit of telly work, someone else gives you another chance. It is unbelievable. The plus side for you Andi is that we will not be seeing Newcastle hammer anyone again for a few years until Pardew eventually gets the chop. I personally would like to see the big jobs go to Managers with a bit of character like Ian Holloway or Neil Warnock. Now wouldnt that be interesting.

One of the rarer occasions me and Dakey are in agreement. What a huge kick in the teeth for Hughton to find out Pardew gets a 5 1/2 year deal. Sometimes injustice stinks

Fellas,
Not a lot to shout about today for a change. Did you see Roy Hodgsons antics on the line? he has developed a twitch and more than once he was washing his face with both hands, but there was no water or soap! They have turned him from a highly respected Manager into a nervous jibbering wreck in no time at all. I fear for his health.
There are also a couple of teams at the top [because of others inactivity] that are not used to being there, beware of nose bleeds, but dont worry, normal service will be resumed by the end of monday when we will be back on the summit with points and games to spare.
Cheers Dakey

Watching liverpool I had to wonder how they have fallen from consistent top 4 to this.
Read this morning Tevez wants to leave city...was slightly surprised when they said he was top paid player. Considering figures thrown about for Yaya Toure's wages were 200k+/week.
Still staggers me when these guys can earn nearly £1m in a month.

The kids and I re-played that Roy Hodgson face rubbing incident 4 times last night. Pressure eh....brilliant! Talking of pressure I think there'll be alot of pressure on two teams yet to play this weekend. Both utd and chelski are in indifferent form to put it midly and the results over the next day or so will have a massive bearing on the eventualities. The Gooners away form this season has been very very good and if they can beat utd on Monday night that will be just the little lift they need if they need a lift to really believe they can push on to the next level. If that's the outcome and with our main players either just getting their match fitness or about to return things could be very interesting indeed. I predict a jack wilshire masterclass on Monday night with him totally running the show.
Chelski have to get a result at the hole today or their season is real danger and with spu**s injuries if they can't ancellotti's job will be in grave danger. Abramovic is mental, let's hope he keeps meddling gets pissed off and goes. Enjoy boys and girls.

Jay,
interesting points, but I wonder if Blackburn will agree with you that we are not yet firing. Its not as if they have been struggling either, Blackburn have been one of the form teams apart from that walloping.
Tevez was always going to do that, he has never got over United benching him then letting him go. In a nutshell he hates it at the bitters. I have already written Chelsea out of it, the next month will confirm it. Our main challengers will be the Gunners, I agree with you on that, with the bitters and Spurs in with a chance. You say "if" you manage to win on Monday, that is easier said than done at Old Trafford, as you will find out yet again. As for Wiltshire running the show, I predict he will go off quicker than a peice of the cheese that he is named after, I would be surprised if he gets more than a few touches of the ball. I have not seen that much of him but he must get nutmegged about 50 times a game, I have never seen anyone in sport so bandy, did he used to do rodeo before he took up football?
Cheers Dakey

You're funny geezer but I shouldn't really have to remind you that WIlTSHIRE is a county where most of utd's fans come from, where as WIlSHIRE is a young footballing genius as you will rightly find out tomorrow night. Enjoy the game mate.
