Jay,

You are correct my son, When Eufa stop these clubs spending unearned income then they will once again be begging for an appearance in the milk cup final!

Cheers, Dakey

Georgeh

Born & bred a red in sunny North Manchester, my friend, like most Mancunians. 27 years in Moston with my dear Mother, till she passed away God rest her soul and the rest in Middleton, North Manchester with my beautiful North Manchester Wife, from Langley.

The Question therefore is, What part of the Kings Road area or even London are your roots from?

Cheers, Dakey

Nice one Georgie boy, resort to humour when you have nothing else to say. I would still like to know where you are from and whether you have been a lifetime blue or just jumped on the bandwagon when the money rolled into town.

Respect to you then George for supporting a local club. I would suspect that you, like me, supported your team for years when we were winning the thick end of nothing, so enjoy the good times, (even though you have bought them with easy money) as it could all so easily go back to rat sh.. in the blink of an eye for both of us.

Hope a life in the sunshine is restoring you back to health.

Cheers Dakey

Dave,

Nearly a full strength team, 350million quids worth, you cannot turn a corner at Eastlands without tripping over a 30 million quid player on 200k a week. What do you get for your money? An almighty struggle to contain NOTTS COUNTY! yes, thats right, you heard me NOTTS COUNTY! who by the way can count themselves very unfortunate to not close out the deal.

No wonder I have got to prise a comment out of you these days, you must be mortified by whats happening at your beloved club. Give us your thoughts mate, we would like to hear them, honest.

Cheers, Dakey

Jay,

We have to give credit to both Southampton, but especially Huddersfield for spirited displays that probably deserved more than they got, but you made a comment the other day about Utd always getting the rub of the green, fans of other clubs would probably say that it is a big club thing in general where the big clubs seem to get more of the big decisions. Your winner yesterday was the perfect example and before you come out and tell me it was a definate penalty, I agree with you, it was a definate penalty, but just before that a Huddersfield player won a perfectly timed slide tackle in midfield to flick the ball to one of his teammates. Instead of breaking away, the ref gave the Gunners a free-kick for the tackle. I said to my mate, that is what changes games, watch Arsenal get the winner from this free-kick. Sure enough the move led to the penalty, very harsh on Huddersfield. Thats football mate, we got a decision last week, you got one this week. I am not going to say that the Gunners always seem to get the rub of the green though.

Cheers, Dakey

I know you missed me. Just back from 9 day trip to Dubai. Was luckily back on Saturday and able to go to Notts to witness our courageous, creditable, come from behind draw against the worlds oldest club with our( first team)?????.

Just read some of what i've missed. Went to bed with your lot 2 down at Blackpool. Some goon told me the score just before my early tee off time and totally spoiled my day!!  Also watched us bury Villa without the necessary scoring arts.

Georgeh, you asked him the wrong question. You should have said bet you've never even been to old trafford?

Dave

dave,

Sorry mate, forgot you had property in Dubai as well, I suppose that is the Eastlands attraction money suppoting money. As you know I am a season ticket holder at O/T from 30 years back. I have someone who uses it every year as we reds can never let it go as the queue is too long to get it back and I choose my games sparingly and support the club additionally through my Sky subscription and my local pubs Sky subscription and as the Sky money is more than season ticket sales, you could say I am contributing to my club even more.

On a Nostalgia front and this is probably something fans of every club did who are our age and could not afford to go as kids. I remember my Mum giving me 2 shillings on match days and that got me bus fare from Moston into Manchester Centre. From there I would walk to O/T 3 miles with the crowd and sit outside the stretford end listening to the roar of the crowd. with 20 minutes to go the gates would open to let out early leavers and I would go in and watch the end of the game, then walk back to town and get the bus home. Those were the best times of my life and define the loyalty you have for your club. I saw Denis Law,Bobby Charlton and Geargie boy all score late goals so the effort was worth it.

Just to open it up, did you have a corporate box in those days Dave or have you a similar story? indeed does anyone want to share their early moments supporting their teams. It could become an interesting topic.

Cheers, Dakey

Dave,

Just read your post again, you say your day was totally spoiled on the first tee(by news of Utd' magnificent comeback.) From what I remember of our rounds of golf, it is usually about 2 holes later before that happens!

Cheers, Dakey

Brilliant reply mate. End of sixties early seventies was amazin times in Manchester. Me and my dad used to go with a mate and his dad also from the miners estate. Big memory was tryin to get the football special buses from top of Moston Lane. 80 & 112. If they were full you had to go to Aytoun street and join the big queues.

My golf is not much better. Joined Blackley, give me a ring when you're next home.

Off to Greece on 13th / 14th for Europa games. Not told missus yet its Valentines day.

Dave,

If the football special buses were full up you had your weeks mixed up, UTD were at home.

Alright Fellas,

We certainly did get the rub big time. Huddersfield were a credit to their fans, manager and history as have all the teams that we have played from the championship. True british battling spirit from Leeds Ipswich and Huddersfield I hope the Arsenal boys have learned from these hearty performances shown against them. I think in recent seasons we may have fallen to at least two of them but credit where it's due we have much more metal about us now and even the number 15 for us (i cant say his name anymore) dug in against Ipswich.

Nice draw so our pals for from E10 will put on a day out for us and i'll end up knee deep in cockles and eels over at O's!!

Harry's interview was great, smacked arse comes to mind. Sorry Shane they gotta proper slap down at cottage my friend.

We're still in all four competitions by the way

As for the good ole days I hopped on the old picaddiliy line for a couple of stops and bailed out at Finsbury Park bought program a burger and walked down St Thomas Road Road till the mighty rear of the North Bank came into view. Around up Avenell Road and into the Clockend for 1pm as the gates opened. All of that for less then 3 notes. The best bit was after devouring some monkey nuts reading the program and watching the the first half they would open the exit gates of clockend and the east stand and me and my pal ran out and used to sneak up through the exit gates to the upper tier of the old east stand. What a view!! I promised myself that one day I'd have a season ticket up there and realised my dream by transferring my ticket from the lower tier in 1999. Miss that time and  that stadium more than words can say.

Progress eh!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously Shane although you probably might need a slightly bigger stadium I think you should stay put but if you do go to West Ham's manor I wont stop laughing.

Jay, at least it was the cup and not the league.

We can be brutal defending at times.  Can't believe we're down to two centre halfs again!

Will be watching around 11pm to see if Harry will manage to bring in anopther gem.

Hoping for a striker, fullback, or goalkeeper.
