Guys, when someone is so obsessed with someone else's club it's pretty obvious there is something not quite right with them, clearly Flakey is fast losing the plot if not already there ............. it's that North Sea air, isolation  and all the manure paraphernalia that surrounds his bunk bed ...................... poor lad

Shampers,

Have you been in my house while I have been away? where did you get a picture of my bedroom.

Chaddy,

I am not a born and bred miggletonian, but I have lived there for a long time so I have a certain affinity with the locals, now I have had to endure several posts about us miggies with 6 fingers etc etc and took it all in the humourous manner intended. Now I sense a bit of indignation at my comments about your heritage although I intended them in the same manner as yours. If you are going to give out plenty mate you are going to have to take it as well without getting upset. Of course I do not know what goes on in the privacy of homes in Oldham, but after a days shopping up there the other day with my good lady and witnessing most of the adult males swanning around in platform shoes, flared trousers, penny round shirts and feathered blonde dyed mullets then any sane person would think that there was something dodgy around the local gene pool!

Anyway, you are correct, gatting back to the topic of the thread. I was stuck in traffic earlier listening to Adrian Durham and Darren Gough on talksport and the main topic they were inviting calls on was why Utd had sold out for the community shield in three days and City had returned nearly 3,000 tickets from their 27,000 allocation. It looks like your happy blue sea end will have quite a few blue seat islands spattered around it Dave. It should be quite interesting reading your inevitable excuses or if you havent got any then just try some of chaddys humour instead, it always gets you out of a hole when you havent got an answer.

Cheers, Dakey

Tryin to tweak my achiles heel again about attendances. I wish I'd listened to Goughie and Adrian its a subject currently close to my heart. I hope that these two excellent and sometimes witty pundits got to the truth of the matter

As you know, our club is going through some significant on and off field improvements. New buildings are sprouting up all over the surrounding area. In their wisdom, the hierachy decided to totally refurbish the shops, offices and ticket stores. This at a time when Take that were performing 13 tour dates at our ground (and exceptionally good they were, whisper it.)

Unfortunately the ticket office is still not open causing backlogs for season tickets, away tickets for Bolton and Spurs and more significantly Community shield tickets only available by phone or web. On monday 2700 tickets were still available and being sold but as will call tickets to pick up at Wembley on the day to members and season ticket only.

You couldn't have imagined it was somethin as simple as we diidn't want them Dakey.

Gimmee your seasons predictions lads and lasses

Dave

Priceless Dave,

Gary Barlow is responsible for your half empty stadium! Take That, Dakey

Predictions are easy, Utd to retain the league and win the CL. Utds' reserves to win the Carling and FA cups and our youth team to retain the youth cup. Should be some interesting battles for the minor places though.

I actually believe that this season utd will win F A!!

Not enough creativity in the midfield unless playdo head drops back into midfield and that will leave em too short up top. I think it could be Dave's year and the gooners will feature until March and then implode...... I don't know why I feel like that??? Liverpool my dark horses will ease there way back into the top four. Think chelski are too old apart from their manager and sp**s will be relegated. Harry always ends up taking a team down in the end his record speaks for itself.

City will win the league after buying UEFA and changing rules to allow 16 players on the field so they can play all their forwards!!

I think Utd will be about the same as last year but this year that won't be good enough.  Can't see how Arsenal can improve if they are offloading players.  City are in with a chance but I have a feeling Chelsea could be back again.  Liverpool and Spurs to try and grab 4th off someone.  Close but I'll go with Chelsea, City, Utd, Arsenal.

And Dakey maybe City didn't sell out their Shield tickedts because of the distance their fans had to travel....lot closer for much of Utd's fans.

Shane,

you are correct, our 15,000 or so cockney reds are a valuable addition to the 50,000 plus mancunians on match days. Can you blame them for supporting Utd, there is not much else in the Capital City to tickle the fancy.  Dave said the ticket office is closed, I have been saying that for years, if there is any club that doesnt need a ticket office its got to be City. They have got all sorts of deals on offer and cant give them away.

Jay, looked at last years predictions and you thought we would win nothing then as well, do you never learn? is your middle name Wenger. You are starting from a bit further back this year as you have usually got the Emirates cup tucked up by now, cant see you figuring this year and Arsen might just be on borrowed time now.

I must say though, looking at the opening 6 fixtures where I think we play four of the top teams, we have by far the hardest start so I will say that if we are still in touching distance after that little lot I will be more than happy.

cheers, Dakey

Alright Dakey

I can't remember making such predicitons about UTD last year but I do remember making them the year before and apart from the league cup I was proved right.

This year I stick to what I have said already. Citeh definitely need to step it up a notch this year and their squad looks better now than this time last year to I expect big things from them.

From Arsenal's point of view I honestly can't remember a transfer dragging on as painfully as this in all my 34 years of watching football. Barcelona are making themselves look like the cheapskate underhand sh*tbags that the are. The player has been one of the best at Arsenal for a good few years and his opta stats prove what everybody knows. He's worth a minimum of 40 million by today standards and if they are not even prpepared to offer 35 million for one of their own why are they making all the noise???? The lad has been brilliant for us and if he wants to go home there's no bad blood between us the fans and him. Just pay up or F.O. Barca!!!!!!! AGGGGGGHHHHH It's really had a negative affect on our summer and so much else seems to be resting on this move and not just at Arsenal.

I understand why City sent back nearly three thousand tickets for the Community shield, I mean times are hard for everyone at the moment..... Wait a minute! We sold out in three days and less than 48 hours before the game 76,000 turned out for Paul Scholes testimonial. I think that can be an end to any further debate about supporters. Two words, like our team. Different class!!

Jay,

Is it worth playing hardball with Barca and Fabregas? how long has he got left on his contract. Wenger would get more respect if he just told Fabregas he would only be sold when Arsenal wanted to sell and if he is not happy then let him rot in the stiffs till he has a year left then flog him to the highest bidder then. You can always loan a couple of City players to tide you over.

Remember my comments a few weeks ago, remind me how many offers City have had so far for Tevez, Adebayour, Bellamy, Bridge etc etc. Not too many methinks. Loan deals coming up for those and a few more and Mancini comes out and says he wants another three players to compete! The Mr Mansour fell off the chair when he read that, he must be thinking " how much have I got to sink in to this cess pit before we have a credible team and management. " the answer my friends is quite a bit more yet, quite a bit more!

Hello chaps

I'll be signing off for a while as we literally boarding the ferry at Plymouth for our trip down to CDA.

Seriously, enjoy the start of the season and keep up the banter and I'll try to pipe in when I can.

Take it easy

Well then, the best team won today and this will be City's problem against the better teams till the core has been together for a bit longer, I still don't think Mancini trusts his own players/set up so he trys to keep it too tight, but the manure found a way through on a few occasions today, not just the goals.

Manure dominated the 1st 10mins, thought it was even then til half time even tho Ciddy went 2-up (De Gea's eyesight could be a problem this season), but in the 2nd half then apart from the 5mins just b4 the manure scored their winner then they were all over us.

Suppose this means this now counts as the first trophy of the season for them which therefore means the FA Cup and League Cup is also in play as well

So in summary well done to the Manure, their 1st win in what was becoming a bad 12mths at Wembley  for them................ hoodoo broken, start the clock again

Fellas,

Have you ever seen a more one sided game between two top teams before? Fergie is a master, First team fails in the first half, so put on the reserves and absolutely tonk it second half. You are correct Dave that jones is useless isnt he?

Tick tock Ti....... someone wind up the clock, its come to an abrupt halt!

By the way, just read that we have the youngest squad in the premier league. That must be a sobering thought for everyone else.

Cheers, Dakey

Good of City to give us some defence against attack practice before the big kick off. I'd be very disappointed if I were a City fan if they don't improve - that's a lot of money for nothing. Funny old game though - couldn't believe the score at half time. Our big mistake in the first half was trying to play like Arsenal and pass the ball into the net. Finally - Dakey, was you comment about unsold tickets at their end true or did they all leave for their half time pies very early on in the first half and not bother coming back because they tasted so good?

PS Seriously City will be a threat but could be too defensively minded to challenge for the big honours. They'll be tough to beat though.

Just arrived back in from the match. As we said, just a preseason friendly ha ha.

Obviously you watched it pissed in the pub with the sound down so most of your comments were blurred.

Strange game, better side won, looked much sharper and could tell they had played more games. Agree with Kev on a rare occasion, couldn't believe we were 2-0 up at half time. Excellent Dzeko goal will do his confidence well. De Gea looked poor but made 3 good saves. Hart didn't make a save for all your possesion. No idea whether Jones played ok, we didn't give him anything to do. Thought Smalling must've been offside but not seen it again. Shame for Kompany but we must learn quickly

Ferguson only took your poorest players off at halftime nothing dramatic tactical genius blah blah. Rio's a carthorse and the game was passing Carrick by like it was Yaya

Sober up and watch it again

Dave

The journey back was like a 70's throw back. Bodies and blood everywhere. New loonies on both sides in abundance

Dave,

Have to agree with your comments about new loonies, Middleton was like a war zone last night. Big shame really and needs to be stamped out quickly. The faces of depression on the City fans at the game was a sight to behold and it wasnt the realisation that all that money has been spent on nothing, it was that they had just been informed that the mini bus had broken down and they couldnt get home.

The tick tock thing comes from your good friend and fellow season ticket holder Peter Woodworth, who I also have some banter with by e mail. He always ends his messages with "tick tock we are behind you, the blue moon is rising" as do all the blues in the Gardeners. So it is a common thing among some of you.

I hope for your sake that this Aguero is half as good as his hype as you are big and strong but with little else to offer, could be a long hard season for you on that display, never mind though, only a friendly eh!

Ahh Woody, explains it.

Watched highlights again this morning. Smalling was well on side. Dzeko should have won it in last minute before Nani goal.

See what's been learned for the season
