Pleased to score at the end but thought you were gonna hold out. Gordon had one of those days. Unlucky big Kenwyne went off he's a real handful. Mancini is still to sort out his best eleven which is a big worry.

Alright boys and girls???
Looks like we've got a couple of crackers lined up against Barca but I honestly would prefer to play em in the quarters than the semi's or the final. Like Dakey and Nick I've already done all that and quite litterally got the T-shirt!!
So bring it on and you just never know!Â
Oh yeah .......easy draw fro UTD or what???

Cheers

While you pampered premiership pooches salivate about who you have got in the next round of tthe champions league, spare a thought for us at the 'buisness end' of the football league. Just looking at the half time stat's for Pool's vs Tranmere. Possession - Tranmere 55% Pools 45%. Tranmere shots on target 0, shots off target 4. Pool's shots on target o, shots off target 0. So a real enthralling league one game so far. Looks like we have gone out to bore them to death !
Things can only get better - so they say .

Hey Jay,
Bayern have won the thing 4 times, are top of the German league and apart from a couple of minutes in injury time in 99 we have never beaten them. If we are fortunate enough to get over that little hurdle we will play probably Lyon, who deservedly knocked out Real Madrid and have won the French league for about 50 years on the bounce. Please explain how that is easy!
In fact based on achievements in the last four or five years the only gimmee in the draw was Arsenal, so Barca have been the lucky ones. Now that is what I call easy! They can fully focus on La Liga until they meet Inter in the Semi Final.
Unless the Gunners have secretly signed some players with bottle, they will revert to type and fold like a pack of cards like on every occasion recently when they meet better class opposition. If you prove me wrong, I will be the first to apologise but I cannot see it happening.
Cheers Dakey

Citydave said 'Nearly bit with a reply a month or so back when Paul "not smooth" commented about the world cup during the thread that everyone should and would, get behind england. Cappielow accused him of havin a chip and that we scots would be behind them as well!!!!!!'
LOL, that really did make me laugh Dave. :)
Where mate did I say we Scots would be behind England? If you're referring to my 'we love you really' quote, that was just tongue in cheek. I thought that was obvious. :)
I think a lot of banter and rhetoric north of the border is taken way too seriously be some south of the border, hence my suggestion to 'not smooth' that he perhaps has a wee chip on his shoulder. I personally bear the England team no ill will at all but I certainly won't be supporting them, and I genuinely believe that's how the majority of Scots feel. It's certainly pretty much how all of my Scots friends and relatives feel anyway.Â
I really don't understand the school of thought that some politicians and the media promote that says the Scots, English and Welsh should support each other in sporting tournaments. Sorry, but in the real world that just aint going to happen. In football we're different teams and sporting rivals, and sporting allegiances can't simply be switched to another country just because your own hasn't qualfied.Â
And of course it goes both ways, if we ever qualify for a major tournament again I certainly wouldn't want or expect the English or Welsh to support us. Why on earth should they?
Scotland aren't in it, so I'll be watch the world cup purely as a football fan and a neutral. If England win I'll certainly not be jumping for joy but neither will I be crying into my porridge. I'll feel exactly the same as I will when France or Germany or Brazil win - i.e. completely indifferent, tinged with disappointment and envy that my country weren't good enough to be there as well.

Jay,
Swap what? I think everyone would accept that Barca would be the hardest draw followed closely by Bayern, so the two of us have got the two hardest draws possible. In the semi I think Lyon would be as difficult as anyone. Inter have not improved since we stuck 7 past them at old trafford and would hold no fears for us, so I think this nonsense about easy draws should be put to bed and left there.
On the other hand the league is a different matter. Arsenal are quite good at rolling over inferior opposition, especially those who do not compete and usually fail against 'better' opposition. Seeing as how your remaining fixtures are against these, with the exception of Spurs, non committed type teams you have a real chance for the first time in years. If we come through fixtures against Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City and win the league then I do not think anyone can say we did not deserve it.
Cheers Dakey

Dakey mate.
No arguments there. 38 games tells the story of consistancy always has and always will. Who ever comes out top will deserve it you can't fluke the title.
Last year we were excellent against the the top four and crap against everyone else and this year the reverse. I for one am happy to still be in with a good shout at this stage especially with the emergence of your pals at eastlands and a spirited season from our mates down the road. Remember everyone was tipping us for coming outside the top four this time so we gotta be happy with our lot and proud to a degree especially under our current operating conditions.
Roll on Barca we are actually looking forward to it and good luck agianst the germans and i'll see ya in Madrid maybe.....

Cappie, your view seems to ignore the close ties that make Britain 'great' - if Scotland qualified I would have no hesitation supporting them (by the way great result vs Ireland in the rugby yesterday), same for Wales, England (who I will be shouting for) and also the Republic of Ireland.
Here's one for the the followers of this thread - name your Greatest British/Irish team - here's a few 'celts' I would have in there
Jennings - N.Ireland, Georgie Best (NI), Dagleish (Sc), Gemmill (Sc), Giggs (Wales), Liam Brady (ROI) - just imagine some of the teams they could have put on the pitch - I hope there is a GB team in the Olympics ..............

I am not counting my chickens just yet, but what a good weekend it was. I get the feeling though that there are a few more twists and turns to come before someone limps across the finishing line.
I fear, however, that it is coming to the end of the road for Rafa and all of us at Old Trafford will be gutted when it happens, because after Fergie he is the best manager UTD have ever had. He has single handedly kept Liverpool out of the running for Major honours for years and that takes some doing. Looking at the thing closely there is a real chance of Liverpool finishing 7th or even worse! Can someone enlighten us on how many Europer League slots there are? will 7th place get one? how the mighty have fallen.
Cheers Dakey

now that's what I'm talking about ! That's six points off City this season (a club with no class said Mr Moyes) and I hope Lescott squirmed in his seat for every one of those 90 minutes - what a manager we have - best there is out there - hands off utd when Fergie finally hangs his boots up !

Hey Jeb,
I will tell you something, if you win your remaining games you will definately be in a Europa League spot and not far away from a Champions League place, either way I fancy you to finish above Liverpool who are going in the opposite direction. I bet you wish the season could start again.
Did you see Mancini charge at David Moyes? has he got a death wish. I remember seeing a video of Moyes in his playing days when he had a spat on the pitch with his partner at Centre Half. Moyes took him out with one punch and the player he hit was a big lump of a lad. I think Mancini can be grateful that Moyes found the control to restrain himself, which speaks volumes for his temperment as a Manager.
Big weekend coming up for us, Draws for Chelski and the Gunners followed by a nice win at Bolton for us and we can close the door and turn off the lights.
Cheers Dakey
