We have all had to sit back and listen about how Chelsea are the best team in europe etc, etc. Having now travelled up to the hotbed of football, the North West of England, twice in the space of a couple of days, met two of our smaller provincial clubs, Blackburn and City and then had to slink off back home with the thick end of nothing to show for their efforts, I think that a large dose of reality has now set in and things are not as rosy as first appeared a short time ago. It would seem that the "worst" Man Utd team ever are just two points behind the "best" Chelsea team ever with a trip to Old Trafford to follow. Watch this space!

hey, notsmooth,
" well we beat Chelsea comprehensively" , Does that constitute not shooting your mouth off? By the way I have just watched the highlights on match of the day and Chelsea had enough clear cut chances to win a couple of games including a missed penalty and not many other opportunities for City apart from the goals scored. I think you must remove your blue tinted spectacles and be thankful for three important points as they do not come around too often lately!

I must admit, when I saw our defensive line up prior to the game I really thought that if the hammers had a go then we could be in serious trouble. Zola then decided on a negative holding formation that played into the hands of our attacking strengths and took the pressure off our weak points in defence. That decision begs the question, fantastic player though he was, Does Zola have the tactical acumen to cut it as a manager? I think the jury must be still out on that one. What do you West Ham fans think?

ok lads what about the World Cup draw - even though 'NOT BRAZIL , NORTHERN IRELAND' won't be there and the other half of Ireland GOT CHEATED BY THE FROGS I'm excited about the prospects to come - and for once England got lucky in the draw

1. 4 African teams to get out of the group stages - Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Algeria - only kidding Ghana

I'd support Scotland , Wales , ROI if they made it so think UK/IRE should now lend support to England - just can't see them win it though - any time they've played a good side (Brazil, Spain, even Holland), they look average - still hope they have a good run to keep the interest in it - maybe if Jagielka can get fit you'll have a half decent centre half to call up !
Think one of the African teams will make the semis

Definitely no chip on my shoulder guys, in fact the opposite as I have a lot of mates north of the Border (mainly on the East side) with whom every recent major finals has been a 'hoot' with the Banter and definitely no 'Jock bashing' going on (usually the other way round!!!).
I was just trying to clarify having worked north of the Border for a period of time before and during a major finals and seen the Tennants billboards etc etc.
I have no problem with it as I take it as all good natured football banter (having been a City follower all my life I am used to it) and Im sure you Scottish football fans can give as good as you get lol.
Finally I did consider there were a number of Scottish football supporters using the site and was surprised there was no 'English football bashing' posted following the draw last week but hey there is lots of time til next June.
All said with tongue in cheek etc etc etc as football should be.
After all

Fellas,
Dare I say it, I think God (Sir Alex) is losing his marbles a bit. We have a striker that has just scored a hat-trick in Europe and another one who cost £30 million plus, we are at home and he plays Rooney up front on his own! Villa deserved what they got and I think with both Chelsea and United wobbling then any one of six teams could nick it this year. I am pleased to say, however, that Liverpool are not one of the six!

This thread has gone a bit quiet lately, so i will try and liven it up. Putting aside our defensive woes and the fact that Chelsea are trying their best to keep everyone in with a chance, You can have little sympathy for Mark Hughes predicament, I mean, anyone who can only beat Sunderland 4-3 deserves the sack! ( that should get a nice response from Ant & Andi )
