Just wondered if they are showing football games at the Clover these days.

Anyone know the situation?

Dave,

Just to show I have not just got red tinted glasses on all the time, let me congratulate your team on a fantastic performance at a very difficult place to get a result. But there lies the problem, no one is doubting the ability of the players at City, but it took stinging criticism from everyone including City fans after two mind numbingly boring negative home displays for the Manager to let his players play with attacking freedom to produce the display and result you achieved. I fear he will just revert to type in future games as that is his natural instinct. We shall see.

They say it is wide open this year and it was interesting looking at the table that Bolton and Sunderland have lost less games than the so called contenders, Chelsea, Arsenal, City and Spurs. I dont think I have ever witnessed such a strange league before, but it is extremely entertaining.

Are your other love Rangers going to adopt their 'anti-football' approach on wednesday or are they going to give it a go? Are you going up for it or are you waiting till they meet City in the Europa League.

Cheers, Dakey

Well Dave,

I dont think I have ever seen a more negative home performance by anyone in all my years following football. How anyone pays good money to see that drivel is beyond me. Sir Alex even played a reserve back four to try and entice them out but no chance. Please explain why at 0-0 with third place assured that Beattie was only given five minutes instead of 30 minutes? Rangers had nothing to lose by having a go in the last half hour, but they still kept nine men back. unbelievable! That is 28 games for us now, when will it end? Blackburn and Blackpool next, keep them coming and with Chelsea and Arsenal to follow, I can see it being all over by January, almost.

Cheers Dakey

Come on fellas, some great games lined up for the weekend, lets have some views on how it will go. If previous weeks are anything to go by then not to plan, thats for certain. The big questions are; Can City do it twice on the trot with another toughie at Stoke? Will the Gunners continue to implode? Can Chelsea stop the rot, another toughie at Newcastle. Will Blackburn stop us going top? What about the form teams, Spurs, Bolton and Sunderland? Fascinating stuff isnt it Fellas, what do you all think?

Cheers Dakey

Hi Gents,

Looking forward to 16.45 tomorrow, when normal service will be resumed.    Taken a bit longer this year, but now the spud faced nipper is back among the goals renewed optimism has returned.  Should be a good week-end with a lot of tricky games for all the top teams........hopefully the weather will not be too bad tomorrow so the journey down is not too bad.

Games coming thick & fast now - hope Fergus puts a half decent side out next week when we visit the Hammers in the League Cup.

I take it games are still not being beamed into the Clover....?

Well as much as I'd like to say I expect a Spurs win against Lpool I have a feeling we'll struggle again after a CL fixture.

Got a good record against them recently (well hasn't everyone) but we're so inconsistent this year.  We have only 22 points and I read 14 of them have been got coming from losing positions. Well maybe there is some consistyency in that....

If we get VDV back and possibly Dawson with Defoe starting to freshen up the starting 11, I think we'll sneak a win.  I just have a funny feeling the game could be flat and Liverpool might steal a 1-0 win.

Hope I'm wrong of course.

Think Arsenal might struggle to get the 3 points at Villa.  But expect Chelsea to bounce back...wouldn't be surprised if they hammer Newcastle.  Man U will win by a goal or two but I'm not sure how City will fare.  You'd expect a comfortable win but Stoke at home have a decent record.

Table is a very congested one...looks like it could be the most interesting season for quite awhile.

Well gentlemen,

What a fantastic days football all round, but I have to say that after listening all season to " the end of an era" or " the decline has begun" or "the gap has closed" and all this mostly by the shameless bitters but echoed by almost everybody, then it gives me great pleasure to remind you all; Top of the league! top goalscorers! unbeaten in 29 games since April 7th, over 7 months! no goals conceded in 5 Champions League games! Not bad for the debt ridden crisis club is it? All that and today is the first time we have moved out of 1st gear, that must be a daunting prospect for you all. Enough about my struggling club, I am still pinching myself at the quality of the football being produced in the Premier League by almost everyone, isnt it just a fantastic league to watch this season and long may it continue.

Cheers Dakey.

As a Blackpool season ticket holder it's been interesting to keep an eye on this stream because last year we began  'our journey' into the premier league..it has to be said that under Ian Holloway it was a pleasure to behold, fantastic football played with passion,....no money..... just passion, our arrival in the Premier league is living up to the dream, just to have you guys and your teams playing at Bloomfield Road has been unbelievable, it truly is the best league in the world, and to echo Dakey, from the Tangerine Army.....Long May It continue...I look forward to the Red devils visit next week!

Dakey, I agree that Man Utd are far from a spent force.  But I also think the gap has been closed between the "Big 4" and the next level in the prem.  Not that I think over a season it will make a big difference but in individual games the top teams aren't managing to stroll through fixtures.  Just look at Man Utd - only won 50% of their games.  They may not be losing but the list of teams they have failed to beat is long.  And their defence in the CL has been excellent but they've scored  maybe 5 or 6 goals and thats after playing Rangers & Bursaspor twice each.

Definitely not a club in crisis but not one at the top of their game either. And only top of the league if Chelsea don't win at Newcastle today.  But after yesterdays performance wouldn't be surprised if Man U win the league.

After listening to the updates on sky sports of Saturdays games and seeing some of the goals last night there were some amazing goals.  I know managers probably prefer a 2-0 to a 4-2 but for the spectators it's great to see the goals flying in from everywhere.  Let's hope it lasts.

SMV,

I know statistics can be bent to suit a particular argument sometimes, but consider the following FACTS; In our 29 game unbeaten run, 21 league games, won 13, drawn 8. Champions league, won 4 drawn 1. carling cup and community shield, won 3 drawn 0. Total- won 20 drawn 9 lost 0.

Now I am no mathemetician my friend but even my poorly educated brain tells me that is not a 50% win rate or even close to it.

Cheers dakey

Dakey

Was talking about the current seasons premiership.  Was in the context of how other teams are now closer to the "Big 4".  Didn't look at last season, CL, FA Cup etc.  Wasn't really relevant to what I was saying.

Now I'm not saying 50% is totally accurate either...an approximate figure.

Cheers

Shane

Nevermind all that stat talk, the only unbeaten runs that need to be bragged about are runs that end up with title's and we're a long long way from that fellas! Most amazing thing this weekend was bassong's diamond nose stud! A another new low me thinks. Have a good week boys and girls. Jay

Jay, mate

As I said Stats can be manipulated to suit any argument, but I can see why you would not want to yours to come under close scrutiny, as whatever way you look at them for the past nearly 6 years they are pretty abysmal. I am not going to go overboard just yet for as you quite rightly point out there is a hell  of a long way to go, but for a team who know how to stay the distance and who traditionally get better through xmas and onwards after stuttering starts, then i am more than happy with where we find ourselves at this precise moment.

I am trying to be objective as well as my obvious bias and I am still drooling about the weekends football in general. It does not get any better than what we have seen this weekend, with one obvious exception. I am sorry dave, but that rubbish your team served up yet again was like a thorn in a bouquet of roses. You single handedly almost ruined everything that we had witnessed before! The team was a disgrace and as I feared Mancini reverted to type and pulled everyone back into a compact shell, frightened to death of showing any enterprise or guile, shame on you and yours.

Cheers, Dakey

Not even the special one could see a silver lining in last nights El Clasico.

Didn't catch all of it but what I saw was an absolute demolition.  Still amazes me the way the Barca team can pass the ball around in such close proximity to each other and the opposition.  Arsenal I believe in the premiership are well ahead of others on that score but they are still streets behind that Barca team.

And to cap it all off the stupid red card at the end.  Nearly felt sorry for Jose...nearly

Expect Barca odds for CL to be cut now.

Shane,

Quite correct, they look awesome, I think they would only lose to us by the odd goal if they play to that standard.

Cheers, Dakey

I may be wrong but I think the commentators said that 9 of 11 players on the field (this was near the end) for Barca came through their system...which I assume means youth teams etc.

Although they have world class players that would do well anywhere I found that interesting.  Its not something that would happen in todays premiership as no time is given to managers to build from youth...just buy and sell (and generally not english players) rather than develop.

Not our club SMV,

Problem is that to build from the youth development takes time. We are about season or so from having a clutch of young ones mature at the right level of experience and age; that have all been brought through the ranks. So for now it looks like we'll have to let the sugar daddy/leaverged boys have there fun. Shame aint it!!

Are they showing any football at all in the clover because me and the better half off  to Condado Thursday for a few days and I would love to watch some in there if there is any on.

Come on Jay,

We have been waiting that long for the Gunners kids to mature, some of them are nearly drawing their pensions. Its now or never for them. Alan Hansen was right when he said you cant win anything with kids, he just said it about the wrong team!

Cheers Dakey
