Some good points and even some valid ones, but the fact is your team didnt just disappear overnight and they definately underachieved after the unbeaten season, even you must see that it puts a question mark against them. Your only other success after that was the FA cup win over us in 2005 and that highlights the fickleness and luck of knockout cup football. All the world and his dog was looking forward to a football feast that day until Wenger decided to shut up shop for 120 minutes and play for penalties from the start with the result that we had 25 attempts at goal to your 2, yes 2!! Fergie still comes out all this time later and says he will never understand how we lost that game.
I take your point about financial difficulties and building and paying for a ground and that is why I am as pissed off about the bitters renting our manchester taxpayers ground and buying top players with the money saved as you are with Chelsea, but for all your difficulties they pale into insignificance compared to the ones inflicted on us by the Glazers, but even hamstrung by all that, Fergie has still presided over our most successful period in our history in the period they have owned the club.
As for next year, its a no brainer. We always win it two or three times on the spin after losing it and next season will be no exception.

Attention to detail mate, thats what makes him so good. Howard Webb has worked bloody hard to become Fergies number1 so give him credit for that.
Seriously though, The Webb thing actually works against us now as he obviously reads the stupid comments and if anything he goes the other way to show that he is not biased, so we dont actually want him refereeing our games because he is now biased against us.

really dakey- i cant see chelsea getting a pen or a man u player sent off ever when he refs but he has given you loads .
but now some really bad news, arsene cant win a trophy wenger is off to paris st germain,
really wanted him and his lack of success to stay for another hundred years!

I also am quite happy for the grumpy frenchman to stay in charge of the gunners as they are not a threat while he remains the manager.... mind you I feel the same about Rafa as with him in charge you will never win anything significant either, but as he is being shown the door, your next manager choice for the following 6 month period will be quite crucial.... before the next one comes in!

Are you Dave Roy in disguise? just add 13 titles and 2 world club cups to those 2 CL wins and it will take you and anyone else till the end of time as we know it to get anywhere near that little total. Just take the time span of 25 years for all you other top clubs put together and add up all your trophies, they still dont add up to what the great man has won in his tenure at Utd...... thats how ridiculous your posts are getting. You are losing your marbles, but you are correct on one thing... we will smash Chelsea this weekend!

In fact Do you actually know where London is or what part of it your despicable little mob are located. Last time you thought you was in south London which just about sums it up really don't it. The owner sacked the manager last season and the interim one went on to win an historic double.I dont always agree with his decisions but 3 league titles , the cl, possible europa leage. and numerous fa and league cups (i have lost count there have been that many as opposed to your combined total of one) suggest the owners philosophy works, so who am i to argue.I am loving the rid and long may it continue and the bitter hatred continue as it means we are successful. Once people start liking us i will be worried.
Yes we are in south west london but as arsenal/spuds are in north london we do have a north south hatred which is where the south bit comes in just for your info.

Your domestic triumphs are not to be taken lightly and there's no doubt that Fergie has had the most success on that front. World Super cups are like the charity shield and nobody gives a flying one about them.
All I'm really pointing out and quite correctly is that compared against true mega clubs like Barca and Real your stats aren't no where near as good and your turnover and spending power demand a much better return and as a consequence that is a failure whether you like it or not and no doubt you won't.
And while on the subject only Dave GED Nick and my good self who regularly comment on here actually go to games and i'm fast coming to conclusion that you might be awarded champion of the biggest armchair I've ever come across but rumour has it you're more like a chesterfield these days! ;)

You are ramblng a bit now mate, The World club cup is nothing like the charity shield it is the pinnacle of world club football. Thats why Chelseas players were crying real tears on the pitch when they lost it this year, they were desperate to win it and call themselves 'world champions' It is the culmination of 2 1/2 long years of striving. First you have to qualify for the CL, then you have to win the CL and then depending on the format that Fifa decide on, you either play the champions of the other great footballing continent, south america or you play in a knockout comp against the champions of all six world football federations. This level of football is alien to you I know but we have atually won the CL twice and closed the deal twice by becoming world champions TWICE. Only in your sad little world of nothingness could you possibly construe that as failure. Liverpool 5 times, forrest twice, Villa and Chelsea have all tried and failed to bring it home, NINE attempts! we have won it in both its formats. It will take another hundred years for any of our clubs to get to 2 CL and 2 WCC wins and if thats us failing then give it me each and every time.
Nice to see Howard saving his penalties for weekend tonight and by the way I am a bar stool man myself these days although I do like to visit the theatre a couple of times a season just to make sure it is still there.

Gimicky little tournament that no one watches or cares about. The champions league is the one and its sadly eluded us thus far but I still cant help but think that a club with your wealth and spending power advantage over all this recent era has under-performed and should have won it at least 4 or 5 times. Just my opinion mate Jay

Massive, biggest most important tournament that had Chelsea players crying real tears of frustration. 'World Champions' has quite a special ring to it dont you think as opposed to something like 'CL qualifiers in 3rd or 4th place'

I have had a little sleep on it and I am going to make some observations based on the history of the format of european football for you to think about to put it in context.
The old make up of the european cup was champions only and that meant that there were only about 5 top teams in it from the top leagues. All the other teams would have struggled in the top flights of any of the best leagues. With that in mind it is not unreasonable to say that we would now after about 15 goes at that format be sat with considerably more european cups than Liverpool. That is bourne out by the fact that Villa and Forrest won it three times under the old format. The old Eufa cup consisted of teams that had finished 2, 3 and 4 in the leagues, now classed as a CL spot and success, and that made that competition credible and by definition at least as difficult to win as the european cup.
The present format incorporates all those teams into one competition as well as all the champions and my comment about the previous format are justified by the fact that a large portion of those champions are eliminated at the qualifying stage of the present format. Anyway, the upshot is that the CL in its present format is extremely difficult to win and any single CL win is commendable, two is outstanding and add 2 WCC to that and it is even more remarkable. If you think about those points logically without bias, it is very difficult to argue against. Add to that the fact that a large slice of our resources over the last 8 years have gone on servicing a debt put on us by owners who should never have been allowed near the club by the FA, but that is another story.
Just to finish and sorry to rain on your bonfire George but just as the old Eufa cup was very strong in its old format, in its present format of qualifying 5th & 6th and CL group failures means it is now a devalued LOSERS cup with no credit or merit to the winner.

Two points there Dakey Firstly I agree with.2nd 3rd and 4th is not success not in my book anyway. However financial success which seems to be the holy grail for many of our clubs owners and sheisters points to the fact they don't see it that way. Secondly the Europa cups means nothing as does any other pot that chelski have got Romans name on over the last 7 years. Winning two champions leagues is good mate as a gooner we'd be delighted but not fantastic and even old red face knows it. The amount leagues won compared to success in C L is a very low ratio. Jay
