Tadd

In this world of Tadd, did the family apply for the well paid job and consider the area they were moving to.

Where is the 99% asian or eastern european communities.

Where in the UK are there no prospects of any jobs?  Or are you saying the best jobs are where the Asian or EU communities are residing, and how did that happen?

Whats your idea of affordable housing Tadd?  Last week the investigations into affordable housing listed that people on £100k or over are buying them!!   How did that happen I wonder.

And scroungers.  The majority of benefits are paid in the south east and London, strat the search there perhaps. its where the housing is least affordable.

Tadd does not wish to live in a western style democracy with all its advantages and its faults.

Where it is human to err and compassion exists.

He would like to live in a world where everyone is equal and the state takes care of everyone's needs as necessary.

Trouble is this Marxist ideal has been tried before and the only problem is, some people are more equal than others.

There is a current feeling around some of the far left that the government should guarantee a living wage to every single person in the country, working or not, this on top of extra money for schools, NHS and services.

pp advocates increasing taxes on businesses and the the wealthy, a sure way to get those businesses and wealthy to migrate to friendlier climes.

Does anyone not consider cutting down on wants rather than needs and live within our means.

Im setting off this weekend to search for this pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Happy Easter All, I may not be back, if I get lucky and find the Golden Bunny.

Many areas in Bradford are

hugh_man

A democarcy that provides equality - absolutley where all are equal

But then again we have the I'm alright Jtacks and teh scroungers

Not about any pilitical ideal simply what most peopel want forthemseves, family, freidnds and fellow human beings

1. Work

2. Housing

3. Education

4. A welfare state system that helsp when needed in sickness and old age

5. Heatlhcare

Why is this marxist or wrong

Tadd, which areas, Clayton, Tong, idle, Thornton, wike?

If you mean some streets are heavily populated by different ethnicities then OK, that because they have chosen to settle in their own community and family demographics, some pockets have women who hardly ever come out of the house, and some families where the women speak only their own language.   If your asking me if I would settle in such small pockets of different communities, then honestly no, not by choice at all.

The Indian community have a very potent class system called 'cast'.  Man o man they can put us in the dark on racism with their system, it's here do us!!!

i work in these areas occasionally and they are very polite, respectful people.  You have to remember to do things like take off your shoes, try not to be alone in the room with a woman, try to discuss business with only menfolk etc!   That's just the way it is in such communities.   But 99%..... have a rethink on that one.

This covrs mainly Indian and some Pakistani communities, but some other Asian communities ( ithink from the middle eastern regions and some Pakistani underdeveloped areas) just don't like us!   Is that a surprise to you at all?

I wouldn't even try to live among such communities because they are not ready for that yet, too much mistrust.

When I last worked in the Luton area I have to say I was very reserved and felt a bit threatened by the sheer number of different colour faces to me in all public areas.   That may say more about me and my own inexperience of that scenario but it was a very strong feeling I had.

99% may have bene a bit high I grant you but the opint is how many in the uK perceive ethnic communities andmamy worry if migranst buy in their street how it wil damge their neghborhood and for me brexit leavers has simply shown the uK in its true light when it coems to foreigners and recent events in Madrid this where a minority were chanting in the streets "gibraltar belongs to us"

There in lies the issue in the UK many like you would not live in these areas I personally would not have a problem

The caste sytem still exits but it was outlawed in India and if I recall from history the British raj enforced and encouraged this even more

Settling in small pockets spekaing their own language etc. just like the brits in Spain thenwink

Having worked in Southall and Luton and been in some of these areas for evenst and weddings never fealt threatened or intimidated.

Yes I agree in general very nice respectful people who try an dintegrate but are often blocked by the attitude of many

I think Brian has a good point, equality and intergration are wonderful ideals BUT they only exist in fiction.

We are what we are, many work hard, a few scrounge, a number abuse the system and their fellow humans but the world whether it be a democracy, a dictatorship, or communist is not perfect and never will be.

Variations in wages and living conditions in general will continue to force some to migrate but full integration is a bit of a pipe dream and is tough to assimilate when such large numbers in a relatively short space of time migrate.

Of course they help fuel an economy but they are also fighting for jobs keeping wages lower and for  housing with those already here, at some point, the infrastructure cannot cope.

No one planned or could plan or expected 300,000 a year for a number of years of new inhabitants.

Completely different to the 50s and 60s when migrants were indeed required to fuel growth after a world war.

Whats your point about Gibraltar, it has been British for 300 years and the inhabitants want to democratically remain British and it provides jobs for many Spanish.

Spain owns territories in Africa, are they giving those back?

The caste system is healthy and thriving in India and existed long before the Raj and will continue to exist for a long time.

Exactly our point about pickets on Communities, integration anywhere is not as easy as you would expect especially if language is a barrier.

Hugh_man

My point is the mindless minority who were chanting in Madrid this week inciting yet again giving a bad name to brits

I have no issues with gib at all

The caste system is outlawed and you need to check your history on how the raj supported and encouraged it

Integration is not easy but not an excuse to blame immigrants for all the problems in the uk

Tadd.   So you think that a minority of drunk revellers dinging Gibraltar belongs to us shows UK in its true light.

What complete bunkem.  How can any minority show the true light of a people, I take it you think the Muslim extremists show the muslims in a true light.

The soanish police on the same night assaulting ordinary supporters with batons indiscriminately, for singing songs, are they showing themselves in their true light too (maybe so).

Thnk about what your saying man.

Methinks this thread no longer serves any purpose. The world is moving on towards a thermal nuclear conflict which puts the problems of Brexit in the shade.

The day Trump was elected set the planet on self destruct mode.

Yep.  It's getting out of ideas that's for sure.  I think I will have a rest.

But don't start a thread on nuclear conflict mickey.   That's even more depressing.

I remember the Cuban missile crisis and debating then with Uni friends what the chances were of survival and being able  to live out our planned futures. Some things never change.

The way the world is heading Brexit is likely to be relegated to one of history's footnotes, if there is anyone left around to write it. That same sense of powerlessness I had then in the face of global idiocy is returning.

Tadd

I live in Hertfordshire and often visit Luton. I assure you that the majority of the people in the town centre are white european and do not have an accent. Yes there are many of asian descent but nowhere like the 99% you postulate.

I started answering your email but deleted it. Last time I gave an honest opinion on a similar subject I was subject to abuse (which was removed by the moderators).

My view on immigration is that there are too many people in this country, so we do not need more. I welcomed the Kenyan and Ugandan asians as they were fleeing for thier lives and we had some responsibility. Otherwise the only immgration we should contemplate are those with skills that we need, but even then we should ask why we are incapable of educating our own people.

"The world is moving on towards a thermal nuclear conflict which puts the problems of Brexit in the shade.

Kennedy stood up to the USSR and said 'NO'. In the end it made us all safer.

Reagan stood up to the USSR resulting in a reduction of nuclear weapons (and the break up of the USSR).

It is a pity if not a disgrace that since then the US (Russia while it had a reasonable government) and all the non beligerent nations did not/have not continuously campaigned in the UN for further reductions in nuclear weapons.

Obama (on behalf of the west!) has allowed Iran, a signatury to the Non Proliferation Pact, to continue to develop a nuclear capability. All nations should be arguing for de-nuclearisation. It is the increase in nations with these weapons that might lead to deliberate, accidental or terrorist use. We need an active campaign through the UN for the de-commisioning of nuclear weapons and means of policing non-proliferation.

I will feel safer in my bed if Trump proves to be a lion rather than a pussy cat.

Tadd check your own history.

Caste is most definitely alive and kicking and has been around for over 3000 years old, of course the Raj supported it, all Empires grow rich on slave labour.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-35650616

PS no one is blaming the problems in the UK or anywhere else purely on migrants or on the EU.

Every country has its problems and the UK materialistically is doing as well as anywhere else, it still rates among the top ten holiday destinations, its economy is 5th in the world and may well shrink initially but will remain in the top ten. It attracts many overseas investors as it's considered secure, safe and stable.

Wevstill have a completely free at the point of use NHS even if it is under pressure.

Our society is relatively less corrupt than many others.

Countiries in Europe such as Switzerland and Norway survive very well outside the EU as do many countries around the world with similar sized economies to the U.K.

PS neither receives mass immigration even though they permit freedom of movement.

Why is that?

We won't sink into the Irish Sea when we leave the EU.

No we are not perfect, but where is in your opinion?

PP you falsely state...

"Usual ads rhetoric blaming migrants for all the nations woes.

Thank you Tadd for setting the record straight!"

Why may I ask do you feel so threatened as to make up such nonsense and try to reinforce falsehoods about my postings?

You know perfectly well that I do not blame migrants for all the nation's woes and that my genuine concerns lie with EU intransigent policy making and their impact....

Once again I take great exception to your methods to try and personally belittle and reinforce falsehoods about someone who happens to hold different views to your own or someone who provides a different source of evidence.

Shameful.

Well, we think the time has come to lock this thread as it is going nowhere sensible now and it is impossible for anyone who hasn't been involved for quite some time to get involved in such a developed thread. And a day doesn't seem to go by without someone insulting someone else or attacking a different point of view , only two days ago we warned you all about attacking and insulting.

However, we do consider this topic to be extremely important, only, it is so wide it makes it difficult to follow for casual readers. If you wish to continue a respectable debate, we would like to suggest opening new threads with different lines of discussion which makes it easier to follow and easier for more people to participate, thus widening the debate to more varied opinions and making it more meaningful to all members.

(Now that article 50 has been triggered, there seems no point in discussing if Brexit was a mistake or not as it is going to happen like it or not. So no threads on 'regrets' as that is now a pointless discussion and has been discussed already)
