A curious show by some spanish musicians
Thursday, March 31, 2016

Today, I should like to show you a curious video, about a funny show, wtith spanish musicians.

The show, directed by Paco Mir (Tricicle) starts on Sunday April 3, at the Victoria Theatre, in Barcelona. The group is made up of cousins of Emilio Aragon (Producer, Together with Caribbean Theatre). The group (the Buvoj company) consists of five musicians: Alejandro, Alonso, Gonzalo, Rodrigo and Punch Aragon.

Emilio, producing this work, aims to combine the visual and gestural comedy with music, rhythm, with some drama and poetry.

Emilio performed the work, for the first time, on December 3, 2015, in the Luchana Theatres, in Madrid.

Emilio Aragón says that “Aire” (“Air”) is a "cocktail shaker" of all these elements "with the premise of air as a unifying element of the work and the idea of four rare entities, that are born and appear, on stage, as if it was the first time that they walk this world and they have to face the audience, the stage and the elements, virtually with nothing".

In the work, the viewer can see how Buvoj makes music from instruments of toy to plastic bags or dolls, in addition to mobile. In fact, as Emilio Aragón has said, 'Air' is a "technology coupled with comedy".

If you want to watch this video, please click on the link below:

Well, I hope that you have enjoyed this video and I hope that you can go to Barcelona, in order to enjoy the show in live.

Until my next post, kind regards,

Luis.

A brave Spanish talent who stays with us
Wednesday, March 30, 2016

Last Monday, I listened, on the radio, an interview with Diego Gutierrez, a young Spanish researcher, from Zaragoza, who has decided to stay in Spain, to bring his knowledge to the Spanish Science. Spain is ranked 83, of 109 countries, that retain their talents.

Diego Gutiérrez

Diego is a world expert in virtual reality.

Diego explains why he has decided to stay in Spain. He says there are two reasons: one is personal, "the things that make me happy are here (my friends, my family .....), I appreciate that very much, beyond a promotion, only professional. But above all, there is an interest in putting Zaragoza and Spain on the map, trying to get what we can get, in my group, through the investigation, revert directly in Spain, which, in the end, is the country where I was born and which has educated me".

Diego has received offers from the Max Planck Institute (Germany), the Factory Disney, even the NASA has been interested in one of his projects ......; and nothing ..., nobody convince him .....

He laughs and says: "Someone makes me vacillate more than another ... But ... in the end, the decision has always been to stay here and ... I have never regretted. Recently, I have had another of these offers, which makes you to consider it; but, in the end, talking to the University of Zaragoza, I have seen very good predisposition to do things right, to improve and .... I stay”.

Diego says one of the biggest problems for researchers, in Spain, is funding. He says "they need plenty of time to seek funding, and when it comes, it is usually relatively small, usually have many ties, it is difficult to work freely with it. After, when you go to work elsewhere, abroad, and see the level moving, the type of funding they receive and is really playing in another league, we play at a disadvantage, it is a price to be paid, of course, and it is true that sometimes you consider it. I have the good luck, because we work with computers, which in bad, if a year there is no funding, for equipment, my machine will go a little slower, but not lost crops, for example, as can lose people, who are working in biomedicine or other branch of Science".

Diego explains what about his job and he says his team makes "Computer Graphics", which is more generic than virtual Reality. People think that it consists to create video games and movie special effects; but, if we stop to think about images made by computer, that we know today, we will see that they are present in almost all productive aspects of modern society (medical imaging, architecture, engineering, prototyping of new products ...) increasingly, there is a part of the process, which has an image generated by computer; thus, all the research, that is done in images, generated by computer, will revert, directly or indirectly, in society.

Diego says that, two years ago, they developed a project, along with scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, consisting of a camera, which captures light to a billion frames per second. The NASA has found an application, for this project, that Diego and his team could never foresee, for remote inspection of the surface of planets and satellites.”And that is the beauty of science: you do something and you have your idea of what it can serve for; but the most exciting thing is what you can not foresee. A few years later, someone sees that you can use your technology for something else; that is the most beautiful; in this case, we are fortunate that NASA has involved us, in this investigation”.

Diego also said that the Department of Defense of the United States has a huge budget for R & D civil. R & D, which has no military application, because, otherwise, he should not participate. Then, Diego explains that they are developing this project for rescue situations, because ”it is a camera that can see through the corners, with which you can imagine in an earthquake or fire; it would be very useful to see in places, that are hidden by a ruined house or whatever and to decide, on the fly, whether to go or have to go to another house, because there is none in the previous one”.

Recently, the European Research Council awarded to Diego, a grant valued in one million seven hundred thousand Euros. Diego says that money will cover expenses for 5 years --because he has to hire a team (about 8 people, but not everyone will be hired 5 years of the project), trips to congresses, technical equipment, etc--.

Well. I am proud to be compatriot of Diego and I wish him to have good luck, in this project and others, that he may have in the future. And, of course, I congratulate him on his work.

Until my next post, kind regards,

Luis.

Spanish researchers discovered the therapeutic properties of broccoli
Thursday, March 24, 2016

I have just found a very interesting and encouraging news: "Broccoli has pharmaceutical properties to treat chronic lymphocytic Leukemia". And this has been discovered, in Spain.

Broccoli

A study, led by the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) and with the participation of the Gregorio Marañón hospital and the Princess hospital, both of Madrid, has discovered the pharmaceutical properties of indole-3-carbinol, for chronic lymphocytic Leukemia. It is a natural compound, which is present in plants of the genus brassicas, such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts.

Although the body well tolerate this compound, it has a toxic effect on certain Leukemia cells. The results were published in the journal “Clinical Cancer Research”.

In the in vitro study, have been used cells of patients with chronic lymphatic Leukemia, with different phases and prognosis. The data show that, through the drugs, can be achieved concentrations of this compound, causing death of leukemic cells; but not of normal lymphocytes, "essential in the immune system". The study's authors also note that indole-3-carbinol "significantly improves" the effect of the fludarabine, one of the most use compounds,  in the treatment of this type of Leukemia, even in patients with resistance to this drug.

"The results indicate that the indole-3-carbinol enhances the therapeutic activity of the fludarabine and other drugs. Therefore, these combinated therapies could be used to combat chronic lymphocytic Leukemia, even in patients who have developed recurrences and multidrug resistance to standard treatments", says Juan Manuel Zapata, researcher from the CSIC, at the Institute of Biomedical Research "Alberto Sols".

Last September 2014, Zapata and Gema Pérez  --scientific from the same centre of research-- registered patent of the indole-3-carbinol, as a new drug, capable of acting against diseases, such as chronic lymphocytic Leukemia and the Burkitt lymphoma. This compound is a potent toxic, against some tumor cells.

One of the main features, offered by this compound, is its action against cancer cells, in patients with different stages of disease and in those with resistance to treatment. Its interaction, with the Fludarabine, reactivates and improves its effect on cells of patients, resistant to this drug.

Although, by the moment, this technology has not been visited, by a company, its possible oral administration and the existence of previous studies of toxicity, in humans, that demonstrate its high tolerance and low toxicity, could allow rapid clinical application.

Well, I hope that you think this news is such interesting as I do. Perhaps you do like eating Broccoli; if it is so, Congratulations!.

Until my next post, kind regards,

Luis.

An international team led by Spanish researchers confirms the relationship between psoriasis and loss of bone mass
Tuesday, March 22, 2016

Today, I would like to show you a very interesting news, about the Soriasis.

An international team of researchers has found that patients with psoriasis experience a general loss of bone mass, as a result of the disease. The results of this research are published, in the journal Science Translational Medicine, in an article in which scientists have described the molecular communication channel, which is established between the skin and bone, to cause this loss.

Led by the National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO), the researchers suggest that, thanks to the description of this channel of molecular communication, you could treat loss of bone mass, with drugs already commercialised or which are in advanced stages of clinical trials, says this centre, in a note.

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune disorder, that affects the 2% of the world's population and more than one million people, in Spain. It is characterised by inflammation and skin peeling, accompanied by an increased risk of metabolic syndrome, which predisposes them to conditions, such as obesity, diabetes or cardiovascular disease.

Now, researchers from the Group of Genes, Development and Disease, directed by Erwin Wagner, at the CNIO, have uncovered a new feature of inflammatory disorder. The first author of the work, Özge Uluçkan, said: "We have found that psoriasis causes loss of bone mass, on a generalized and progressive way".

This loss is not an accelerated destruction of bone, she has continued, but that during the cycle of bone regeneration, bone is not formed fast enough, to renew lost one; so the bone mass of patients is reduced with time . The process takes place through a mechanism, by which the activity of osteoblasts is inhibited, the cells that generate bone matrix for bones grow, during childhood and youth, and are maintained, in good condition, in adulthood.

Experiments have been done, first in mice and then with human samples. For researchers, patients with psoriasis should be analyzed in terms of the loss of bone mass. Thus, according Uluçkan, to treat psoriasis patients, with blocking agents of IL-17  --protein interfered in loss of bone mass-- could have a beneficial effect, on loss of bone, unlike other compounds, which treat only inflammation skin.

Some of these blockers are already on the market, according to the CNIO, who has indicated that these findings could also have implications, for other autoimmune diseases.

Well. I hope these investigations can go on, to finish, with Psoriasis, definitely.

Until my next post, kind regards,

Luis.

A simple and Spanish dish learned in my home
Wednesday, March 16, 2016

Today, I would like to show you a dish, very simple, that I have seen, many times, in my house, because it was cooked by my mother or by one of my sisters.

Now, married, I have learned to cook it  --I think I cooked it last year; but this year still had not done--, because María, my wife, loves it. The day before yesterday, looking for a recipe, to put on my blog, I remembered this dish and I thought that maybe you would like to know it. I could not find on the Internet or in any book, because it is not there; but I asked, my sister, by phone, how to do it, because I had forgotten.

These are the Ingredients (For two or three persons): 4 potatoes; 1 big onion; 3 tomatoes; 4 big carrots; a large bag (300 grams) of swiss chards; olive oil; sugar, salt and one hard-boiled egg .

The first thing I did was to cut one onion, sliced –neither very thin, nor too thickness--. I cut 4 large carrots, also sliced. I peeled one medium potato and 3 small potatoes, and cut into thin slices –neither very thin, nor very thickness--. And I cut a large tomato and 3 small tomatoes, also sliced with skin. But, before cutting all that, I put the swiss chards, in a bowl with water.

I made this dish, in a pressure cooker. I put four tablespoons --more or less-- with oil. When the oil was hot, I put the onion slices and I left them there, until they were transparent. Then, I put enough carrots on the onion --but not all, because, later, I had to put carrots again--. On the carrots, I put the potato slices --but not all, because I also had to put more potatoes later--.

After that, I put the tomato slices, on the carrots. And I poured one and half tablespoon with sugar, on the tomatoes.

Then, I poured the swiss chards, on the tomatoes. But have forgotten to tell you that, at the beginning, before pouring the onion, you have to put the swiss chards in water, in a pot, and, after pouring the tomatoes, you have to cover them with the swiss chards; but do not drain them too much –because it is the little water in the stew, Do not add more water!.

After pouring the leaves of swiss chards, I poured carrots, potatoes and swiss chards again. And I poured another tablespoon and half, with oil, and salt –depending on your taste--. Then, I closed the pressure cooker. I put the stove burner on a high number; when the steam went out of the valve, I lowered the stove burner until the number 4 --of 10--. I left it so, during 25 minutes. Then, I put the pressure cooker under the cold water. I opened the pressure cooker and I served the stew in a soup bowl. And I put two half hard-boiled eggs.

      This is a

      And this was the result:

I hope that you want to try to cook it and I hope that you enjoy it.

Until my next post, kind regards,

Luis.

About the Foreign Policy in Spain
Thursday, March 10, 2016

Last Friday, I listened a very interesting interview to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Acting of Spain (Jose Manuel García-Margallo) and I would like to commentate it to you. Interview was regarding the last two days of failed Investiture of Pedro Sanchez (General Secretary of the Spanish Socialist Working Party)(PSOE).

The Minister began the interview explaining why he asked his turn to reply, last Wednesday, in the Congress of Deputies. He explained that he was tired of hearing how his statements, that he made a day, were manipulated, statements in which he said that it was common sense to think that :

" If a Government of Socialist Party, with PODEMOS, can be formed, given that they have different positions, about the ways of acting on the Coalition. The PSOE has always understood that the Coalition harbored certain military actions, mainly in Syria and Iraq, do not you rule Libya, while PODEMOS had said clearly that it was contrary to any military action. If a Government is formed, by two parities strength, --much more taking into account that IZQUIERDA UNIDA (United Left-wing) should be with PODEMOS, in this sense--, you have to know which of the two views will prevail and it is obvious that, if prevail of PODEMOS one, Spain should have to establish certain reservations, to any military action, such as that it is being developed, in Syria and Iraq.

Then, I think that it is evident ... that is what I said, as he(Pedro Sanchez - PSOE) distort reality, he made economy of truth, he is spending a month doing it, I said: “Hey, tell ......, and then he read it, verbatim what I had said, exactly what I said”. The only thing, that I said, was: “Man, or you know, since you had it on the tablet, what I had said, and then you are distorting the truth, or you did not know it and, then, it is of enormous daring, in a Plenary session of Investiture, re-emphasize, when I had cleared that up, at least five times”.

Jose Manuel García-Margallo

When the Minister was asked if the investiture debate seemed harsh to him, he answered: “I found a lively debate. There were things that I do not endorse either think that you must wield in Parliament; ie the allusion, that Pablo Iglesias made, to Felipe González, seemed frightening to me; ie, exactly the opposite of what  those who were protagonists of the Transition did.

The image of Pablo Iglesias, referring to the quicklime or the case Lasa / Zabala. If you want the image contrary to that, it is the image of Adolfo Suarez greeting Dolores Ibarruri (La Pasionaria), in the Transition:  it is the image of harmony, national reconciliation, and, what Pablo Iglesias did, was exactly the opposite. That is trying to open wounds, which were closed.

The important thing is not what he said, but why he said it….., what he said ...., because there is no single gesture or a word, by Pablo Iglesias, who is not tested, to the millimeter. So I think he meant, to the PSOE: "Look, this is my ideology and, if you want to get on me, you have to  accept that these are my approaches, my conception of the world and life .... ". He said something else: "to be sure, if we form a Government,  my policy will prevail, and not yours, I demand a parity Government, I want you to give me guarantee, because I do not trust you ...." and, in short, what  it was established is what ..... is in all his books:  it is in "La Nueva Transicion" (“The New Transition”), in “Disputar la Democracia” ("Dispute Democracy") .

Pablo Iglesias is  inspired by Gramsci, by Laclau ... and by Lenin ...... What I said is that they go, to the Institutional Powers, to the Courts, to transform, to alter the correlation of forces, in society, because he says that, with the previous correlation of forces, you can not make the Revolution, that he wants .... “From there, if I go into the Government, I have to get into a position of hegemony, supremacy over the Spanish Socialist Working Party”. And he has an interview, very bright, with Fernando Vallespín, in which he tells you that his goal is the "PASOquización the PSOE". Note: PASOquización (to make PASOC) comes from PASOC (Socialist Action Party. A party, that broke away from the United Left). Ie, it is to become the leader of the Left.

He dominate ….—control, hegemony, supremacy are very much, in the language of Pablo Iglesias ... and, very much, in language of Gramsci .... He wants to have this hegemony , to ensure that it will produce the social change, which he hopes ... and within that social change is, for example, consider Otegui  a fighter for freedom, reopen the Historical Memory, with an absolutely biased vision –because, here, there was a Civil War, there was a struggle, between the two Spains, and what Pablo Iglesias wants is that, once and for all, it is established that there was a group, who was right, and one that did not have any reason : the Spain and the anti-Spain; but we are not for that, as the world is today”.

By the way of the division of Spain, on both sides, after the Spanish Civil War, I think it would be a disaster, for Spain, its division into small states, as they want the people, who is in favour of the independence of Catalonia and the Basque Country  ---and that also Pablo Iglesias promotes, from PODEMOS--. The same thing,  I think it should be bad, if any member --of 28, which form the European Union-- wanted independence from the rest, because I think the 28 already form a compact group, who make decisions for the good of all and, in return, all the members assume responsibility for the common effort. I do not understand how it could be otherwise ...

As for the harsh criticism of Pablo Iglesias to Felipe González, I mean I found it very bad. Felipe González, a few days later responded by saying: "I do not understand why Pablo Iglesias has so much hatred ....". Well, I do understand it, the explanation is simple: Pablo Iglesias, like his team, shows that they have no value, such as forgiveness and humility. So it is normal that he insult and then he does not regret.

The interviewer asked the Minister: "Are broken all the bridges between PODEMOS and PSOE,  and also between CIUDADANOS and PP?”. Note: PP = Partido Popular (Popular Party). And the Minister answered: “I think that, among PODEMOS and PSOE, no. I think that Sanchez is very clear: what he wants is to be President --he said: "Next week, if possible"- - and is willing to be with anyone, who makes him President; ie, the most striking of the session --and that has been, recently, little highlighted, in the media— is that Sanchez said, with absolute clarity: "To me, what I would like is an alliance of the forces of the Left, with PODEMOS, and if I do not do it, it is not because I do not like it, but simply because they do not add up", which leaves, to Rivera (the leader of CIUDADANOS), in a slightly snubbed position, because Sanchez is implying: "Iglesias: I would have liked to marry you, but as it can not be, I have no choice but to marry Rivera" ....

He shall insist on this matter and, what they have to do, is reflect on their ideological differences, which are abysmal, --because they do not agree either on their vision of Spain: PODEMOS want to put Spain in Almoneda (Note: Almoneda is an auction of goods, usually at a low price). They do not agree on the Economy: PODEMOS is in the Economy of Venezuela or Syria; PSOE, CIUDADANOS AND PP are in the Social Market Economy. They do not agree on the European Project, and do not agree on the role of the Coalition, against Terrorism.

There are some differences, so abysmal that one can not get to understand how they can try to govern together, because this is not a matter of addition, this is a matter of analyzing what Spain needs, in this particular historical moment and, from there, to see what is the policy fómula, that best help to meet those needs, to achieve the objectives, that Spain has. Look, you and I can agree on a society; but we need to know for what, because if not, it does not have any sense, that we form a society, when goals are not concrete or when you have a vision of society, that is radically opposed to mine, I fail to understand how is it possible to do that”.

The interviewer (Alfredo Menéndez) asks the Minister: "And among CIUDADANOS and the PP, when Albert Rivera asks, to militants of the PP, to have courage, for parking Mariano Rajoy, politically, that is not  to blow up the bridges?”.

And the Minister answered: “Let's see, I do not seem relevant ..... ie: I think that no political party, no political force, in Democracy, can claim the right to explain, to another political force, what to do; ie, you arrange your home and we arrange our own; What would have seemed to you that Mr. Rajoy had spoken and had said: "Look, we will not go with you, we will not even drink coffee, unless Mr. Rivera is replaced by Mr. Girauta"; well, it would have been considered an impertinence, more than notable. And, secondly, if what Spain needs  --and I return to the matter-- is a stable government, that government needs to be formed by some stable parties, and the Popular Party ... the stability of the Popular Party rests much on the figure of Mariano Rajoy, who is able to arbitrate the various political sensitivities that, as it exists in any great party.

The fact of dynamiting, to Mariano Rajoy, is something that we know in history. I belonged to Union of Democratic Centre and, when the Socialist Party decided to attack the government, as it was their right and obligation, the first thing they did was blow the Adolfo Suarez´s  head off; once they blew his head off, everything was infinitely easier. It makes no sense to commit the impertinence to say, to others, what they have to do at home ....: "Hey:  you will know what to do at home, and let´s agree on the program. What want we do?" and that is very urgent .., today I have seen that the index of consumer confidence has plummeted, by political instability.., we can not go on so; before, you told me: "Is the world keeps turning ..." , of course the world keeps turning ....: Monday, we must address the matter of refugees and migrants, which are two different matters, but related; June 26 ... just three days after the Referendum, in the European Union,  output, or no, by the UK --which may have a inmense commotion ....--;  we still have problems, in Syria and Iraq ...; from the economic point of view, we all agree that we go to a cooling period of the Economy ....

The Spanish economy is better, it is much better than it was, but is still a convalescent Economy and we can not get into water much more turbulent, than we have had, without a crew and, above all, a Captain, to direct the boat, with a firm hand; that is the problem, Spain needs a Government, needs a government that agree in the diagnosis: Where we want to go?; it is not the same to say that we want to go as Germany, that we want to be like Venezuela, that is evident; and, from there, get to work; ie, what to do in this Legislature?, what are the major reforms that Spain needs? .... And the most picturesque thing, of what is happening, is that CIUDADANOS and PSOE make a program, that requires structural reforms, on first-order, between others, a reform of the Constitution, when it is obvious that, without the Popular Party, you can not do ...; ie, “Look, the formula is that you do this; but I know I can not do it, it has to be done by other. What sense does it?. There is a basic principle that says: "no one can commit to do, what you can not do"”.

The situation is complicated, because Pedro Sanchez wants to be Prime Minister, but not with PODEMOS, because this one  is joined to other parties not Constitutionalists. The PSOE (Pedro Sanchez) wants to govern with the support of CIUDADANOS (Albert Rivera); but they do not have enough votes and PODEMOS (Pablo Iglesias) does not want to meet CIUDADANOS. And, on the other hand, PP (Mariano Rajoy) says it is the most voted party, in the last Elections of December 20 --and that is true--, which means that PSOE and CIUDADANOS should agree with PP, in order that Mariano Rajoy was Prime Minister.

I think a thing: if Democracy is the Government by People, politicians represent people and 7 millions of Spaniards voted to PP (with Mariano Rajoy as Candidate), Why Mariano Rajoy is not let to form a Government with PSOE and CIUDADANOS?. I can not understand it.

Well, I am going to finish. And excuse me if this post has seemed too much long to you, but I think that it was very interesting to show you almost all the interview.

Until my next post, kind regards,

Luis.

The advancement of strawberries in southern Spain
Saturday, March 5, 2016

Today I want to show you a curious video, through which you could see how the advancement of good weather, the warmth of Spring, has caused, at least in Southern Spain, it has been advanced the harvest of certain vegetables and fruits, such as strawberry.

If you want to watch this video, please click on the link below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNMuLrkNci4

Lorena Jaén (reporter in “Andalucía Directo”): “Juani: this one, that you are experiencing, this year, is unusual. Is not it?”

Now you can read on image: THE FIRST STRAWBERRIES ARE ALREADY COLLECTED IN CONIL.

Juani: “But..yes, the truth is that it is something exceptional, because another years, it  has started a month later. It rained very little and that has made the production of strawberries has been early, this year”

Lorena:  “Have you seen something so .... ie, a harvest of strawberries so early?

The owner of the estate:  “No. This is the first time it happens, by the rising temperatures, that we have had, they are as if we were in full Spring ...”

……..music…………………………….

Lorena: “Juani: the thing is that moreover the strawberries are already ......”

Juani: “They are just right, because they are already red, ripe ... are finished, as you can see ... until the end ... they are completely ....”

Lorena: “How do you know, for example; how do you know that the strauberry can be pulled up, which is already just righ?”

Juani: “Because this is totally red and , however, there are other , as for example....”

Lorena: “All these are away……..When these will be already finished?”

Juani: “These are, practically, three or four weeks away”

Lorena: “How is it caught, pulling the……?  the branch ..”

Juani: “You catch it….and bend it”

Lorena: “And I bend it…so…Hey…, what a nice….!”

Juani: “And it has a very strong smell and, moreover, you can try .... they are too sweet”

………music…………….

Lorena: “Hey, Manuel: What I see is that, in the field, there are more and more young people .......”

Manuel (Another farmer): “It is what we have, here, now. The construction has fallen ...”

Lorena: “And the price….., are they been sold…..?”

Manuel: “The price is….a bargain…..It has no price, to date that we are…., very cheap”

Lorena: “It is being sold very cheap…, I mean, you get very little from it…”

Manuel: “Right now, it does not have any benefit ... inside out, loss”

Lorena: “Everybody are surprised……., when they see strawberries ... ...”

Manuel: “Of course, it is that it has no sale also for that: because they say that it is not strawberry time”

Lorena: “How to keep the strawberry ... in the fridge ..... try to avoid, as far as possible ... right?”

The owner: “Keep it, in the fridge, and avoid, as far as possible, that cold give it directly ... I recommend you put the little plastic, to strawberries, into the bowl or plate, inside the refrigerator and, so, we got last longer and that the quality of this strawberry is preserved”

Lorena: “How is it better to eat”

Now you can read on the image: THEY ARE EXPECTING A PRODUCTION OF 500 TONS

Juani: “Well, but the truth is that, catched directly from the bush, is how strawberry has the most intense flavor”

Lorena: “So, so, so”

Juani: “Yes……… Then, there are many people, who like minced with sugar, with cream, in beaten is very good….”

Lorena: “And we are going to come to Anne´s house, who is a neighbour of Conil, to know how strawberries are eaten, here, in this land...... Hello ..., Ana, look at what a box .....”

Ana: “I like it with sugar……….and without sugar…………………………………………”

Lorena: “Of course…, it is that you are not a very lover of cream, because you say that it has such a flavor ....”

Ana: “Yes .... because cream ... I am not used to cream ... I like more.....”

Lorena: “With the taste that it has ....... ie, you cut them in little slices .... And now?”

Ana: “And now I pour sugar………………..Taste it…”

Lorena: “What a good……..”

Ana: “This is good, very sweet ......, it does not need .. sugar, it is also good without sugar…”

Well, the video is finished. I hope that you have liked it and that you can come to Conil, in Costa de la Luz (Cádiz), to taste these strawberries.

Until my next post, kind regards,

Luis.

Spain exceeds 100,000th organ transplant
Wednesday, March 2, 2016

In this month of February 2016, the 100,000th organ transplant, in the history of Spain, took place, at the Dr. Peset Hospital, in Valencia (East of Spain). It was a renal transplant whose recipient works favorably. A symbolic figure, that the day to day has passed in silence --a date of 15 February, 116 have already been made more transplants--, but also a "Kabbalistic figure", worth celebrating, according to the director of the National Organization transplants (ONT), Rafael Matesanz.

Transplant of kidney

Rafael Matesanz

This round number "is to relive 100,000 moments of anguish; 100,000 moments of joy and 100,000 new opportunities", says Matesanz.

"It is a figure, that adds value to the enormous effort of Spanish society, donors and their families and the health system". "It is worth the effort remembering and continue encouraging people, to these small miracles, that transplants are, still possible ", adds Matesanz, in an interview, with Europa Press.

They are more than 100,000 new opportunities, 3,689 of them given to children, and Spain has reason to celebrate their generosity. World leader, in organ donation and transplantation, since 24 years ago, it returned to beat its own record, in 2015, reaching 39.7 donors per million population and a total of 4,769 patients transplanted, in 2015, an average of 13 transplants per day, more than one, every two hours.

"It will not be necessary to wait another 50 years", to have another 100,000 transplants performed successfully, consider Matesanz, who calculates a greater future progression. oubled;  If we were at the current rate, it would take about 20 years; but, as it is expected to continue incre "At the rate, that we are going, it is possible that, within 15 years, the number has been dasing, I estimate that we will have 200,000 transplants, in 15 years".

The truth is that, since the creation of the ONT, more than half a million people have been benefited with transplant of organs, tissues or cells. Since the figure, released the last Wednesday, we must add the more than 400,000 transplants of tissues and cells, also made in Spain.

"The transplants of tissue are more difficult to count, but our total estimate suppose half a million Spaniards, who have received some type of transplant however small", says Matesanz.

Of the total, about their distribution by organs, 62,967 are kidney, 23,881 of liver, 7,616 cardiac, 3,824 pulmonary,  1,703 pancreatic and 125 of bowel.

The average waiting time, in Spain, for a transplant, varies depending on each organ. So, in the case of lung, it ranges from five to six months; in heart, are three months; the time for liver  is among four and five months; in the pancreas, nine and ten months; and renal, precisely the defendant, the waiting time is among 15 and 18 months, on average.

The Spanish transplant system is a network of 186 hospitals, approved for organ donation  and 43 for performing transplants (ten of them have some program for children transplant), distributed through all the autonomous communities.

Well. I am proud of being Spaniard, after knowing this news. And I hope that many other countries are able to work hard, in order to offer such transplants as Spain does.

Until my next post, kind regards,

Luis.
