George,
Seriously welcome back from wherever you are - we thought we'd lost you but just like your team you keep on bubbling back nibbling out our heels ! If Arsenal get any sort of a result tomorrow we may even here from Jay again !
By the way - did anyone notice Terry's high challenge in the first half followed by his professional foul with a trip on the edge of his own box both go unnoticed. The ref did finally book him for his constant moaning but again consistency went right out the window given what he'd booked other players from both sides for. Seems like there is an advantage to being England captain after all...
Consistency is the key word because Mariner wasn't even consistent during this game let alone across all games he refs and across all referees.
Dakey, I agree that the officials are just generally very poor. I realised this because, before every game we have the first thing I do is look for who's in charge and then recall a list of poor decisions they've made in recent games. If any of us were so bad at our jobs we'd have been sacked years ago. Both todays poor decisions could have been avoided in seconds with technology. The real shame is this is big business and Spurs may have been cheated out of multi million pounds in missing out on CL - you couldn't be sure of this because you'd have to take into account all the other wrong 'uns the officials had made all season.

kev , dakey, fergie rooney, bet you never thought the title race would get this close. the title is back in the hands of the double winners and CHAMPIONS.
and if arsenal had been given that penalty in the first half and vidic sent off then goal difference and the lack of vidic would really make you up against it but as usual the refs come to uniteds rescue and therefore i think you will get a result next week and end up as unworthy champions as you will be the first side since 1977 to win the title with less than 7 away wins..

George,
Dont worry about away wins or referees, as the same ref never gave us a stonewall pen for the foul on owen near the end and better to win the league on our own earned income than ponce 150 million a year off a russian gangster to get yourselves anywhere near winning anything. But I digress, you are right that it makes it interesting now, we are in front on goals scored but if you win next week then your goal difference will be better by the amount you win by. then it will go down to who scores the most in the last two games, that is if we both win them both. Not that I am contemplating a defeat of course.
I congratulate the gunners for a decent performance, but that is what they do when they are not under any pressure, put something riding on the game for them and they fold like a pack of cards.
Kev, we have to do what we always do in adversity, we refocus on the next challenge ahead and for us there is always another big game to win. So take it on the chin mate, take it on the chin, we never ever do it the easy way.
Cheers, Dakey

dakey i think owen was watching the barca game early this week as i think he wanted to join tom daley as part of our olympic diving squad. you really do watch games with a weird pair of spectacles dennis. i guess you also thought vidic had a hand of god!
but how about this sequence
birmingham blues win the league cup
man city light blues win the fa cup
chelsea blues win the league
barca 1/2 blue win the champions league.
i think ill go and listen to the blues brothers to get me in the mood for the run in.

What an incredible weekend for officials. After yesterday's debacle another fine performance from Mr Foy on behalf of Mr Abromovich and the FA who obviously wnat one end to the season by hook or by crook (Russin crook that is!). Chelsea should have lost yesterday and we should have got a draw today. Two pens turned down for us by poor officials and one fo the Goners.
On consistency (I'm consistent in always bringing it up) why does Rooney get yellow carded for gently pushing someone over but it takes eight (it may be more as I could have missed a couple) fouls by Song to get him in the book. It's pathetic and makes the whole game a farce. Whilst committing twice as many fouls (seen by Mr Foy)Â Arsenal still got fewer plyers booked - crazy!
It may have looked like Arsenal were the better team BUT the stats tell a different tale:
Possession 54% Utd - 46%Â Arsenal
On Target 7 Utd - 2 Arsenal
Off Target 4 Utd - 7 Arsenal
Corners 6 Utd - 3 Arsenal
Fouls 7 Utd - 15 Arsenal
Booked 3 Utd - 2 Arsenal
So apart from a good goal, off target attempts and bookings Arsenal were inferior ! So I guess they stil flatter to deceive at the Emirates.
Next Sunday is the showdown now. Forget the teams - who will referee and run the lines ? God help them...

dakey i think gadafi has more chance of winning a peace price than a man u fan thinking that refs are fair,Â
i mean vidic really didnt realise he wasnt allowed to play in goal as you already had van der sar there.
maybe fergies getting a bit old for the job as he seems to be telling some of your troops to play in the wrong positions!
btw i noticed you didnt have 1 home grown player in your starting 11 today- wonder how much that lot cost!or sorry its only citeh and chelsea that spend money- silly me.

George,
Take rooney and Ferdinand out of it and I think the rest cost less than you paid for Torres, so yes we do spend money, but its mainly Chelsea and City who waste it.

Don't you dare let us down now. You've already seen em off once this season just go for em like the gooners did today and us a couple of weeks ago and Liverpool and Wolves did a couple of months ago.
Do you think Dakey is using an alias to talk to himself or has he properly found a new mate from DAAARNÂ SAAAAFFF Leicestershire???? hot bed of reds!!!!! The drivel sounds peculiarly alike.
Jay your lads looked good again today and you do seem to have found a keeper at last
We were on the pitch as match ball sponsors today and I've always had a soft spot for the Hammers. First City game was Good friiday 1967 against them just after I came down fro Scotland. At the bottom, I don't think I ever remenber a season when no single team looks cast iron certs for the drop. Only Ants team the Mackems look to be in freefall but have probably got enough points already. No idea who I would prefer to go. What about you lot?
Dakey, every year for past 6 years Cob at work, enters Euefa ballot for Champions league and Euefa tickets. Of all the bl**dy years for him to get 2 best £300 tickets this year he managed it. After the semi against Schalke, if they don't turn up again, you can come and watch the "burning" at our place.
Who do we fancy for the drop lads
Dave

Dave, George,
It is a perculiar trait in football supporters that when they have precious little to shout about themselves that they gloat in the demise of others, I knew there was something in the air yesterday, on the day when the yanks finally caught up with bin laden the gunners actually won a big game at the emirates! strange days indeed on planet earth.
I am going to take my guard down for a few moments to make an observation, during the coming month, Utd face some momumental tasks and they will be judged by the outcomes of those battles. First, I agree with George in that the Champions should not sneak in through the back door to claim the title, it is right and proper that for Utd to be called worthy champions they must dethrone, physically, the current champions. That is how it should be and that is why everyone including Utd fans should welcome that opportunity next week. Whether we are good enough will be proved on the day and there is no point in batting it around all week, so just bring it on. Secondly, to be classed as a truely great team, as well as dethroning Chelsea and hopefully after completing the job on Shalke, we have to beat what everyone is saying are the greatest club side in history in the CL final. Those two goals are daunting challenges, but nevertheless are the type of challenges that our club is built on. I would much prefer to be in this nerve wracking position than be sat in the gunners position of celebrating a fine one off win but precious little else.
West ham. wolves and blackpool for me, Dave. I only hope that we do not need a shed full of goals in the last game against Blackpool, which could well be the case, as they would not deserve that after entertaining us all season.
Finally, If you really have two tickets for the CL final, you will be looking for a new coordinator then as cob could retire on the money those would bring on the black market, unlike the FA cup final tickets which you can get free in "lucky bags" as the FA try in vain to fill the stadium. ( there, my guard is back up again)
Cheers, Dakey

Hello boys Have not had anything to say that had not been said already and after watching my daughter play all weekend at a football tournament at butlins in Bognor, settled down to watch the game with a few pints somewhat reluctantly. Dakey you are right it appears that under the right conditions we can play and beat anyone. Although I do recall us beating Barcelona at home this year and that certainly was under pressure. The problem is consistancy and that comes with having a team with the correct blend of youth talent and experience. A blend that Wenger is close to but not close enough. So as for yesterday a glimmer of hope but nothing more and certainly not getting too excited about. I'd been happier beating sp*rs Liverpool and Bolton and a draw yesterday but if only.... The absolutely amazing thing was I could not believe who was the surprise guest star handing out the kids trouphies and medals at Butlins last night. I nearly fell of my seat laughing....it was only Gomez and unbelievably he managed to hand out over 3000 medals and trophies to all the kids and teams and never dropped one!!!! What a clown. So after beating utd and helping chelski it felt a bit like the choice of a poo sandwich of glass of sick. Filth! West ham have three massive cup finals and I personally hope they can stay up along with Blackpool but doesn't look to likely. All the best Jay Jay

Jay,
After not meeting your expectations for the season, I know it might not seem an important win for you, although obviously a pleasurable one, but I think if you look at it sensibly in terms of next season then it is a massive win as it helps you fend off the late surge from daves "bitters". It is infinately better to finish 3rd and enjoy your holidays than finish 4th and have to cut short your close season break to get the fitness levels right when facing a potentially dangerous opponent in a qualifier who are all match fit due to their league starting earlier. To avoid that particular banana skin is a lot more important than first meets the eye and if nothing else that win yesterday has secured that peace of mind for you.
Cheers, Dakey

Dave,
I dont profess to know what god is sitting in judgement of Osama Bin Ladin, but I do know one thing for certain, he will be bitterly regreting breaking cover and leaving Citys trophy room.
