Brilliantly entertaining stuff so far this xmas and only one game in out of 4, keep it coming. As I said some time ago Chelsea are out of it and shot, nine points behind and dont look like they can win against anyone. Spurs, although playing well are also too far behind. City, although capable of good wins are potentially eight points behind so that leaves the Gunners as the main threat potentially only 5 points behind. There lies the problem with all  the chasers they all post good impressive wins followed by unexpected defeats leaving frustrated supporters swinging between optimism and then despair. I know football is a funny game and basically anything can happen, but Utd to throw away this hard earned advantage? Never mind funny, I am sure that you would all find that hilarious......... but its not going to happen.

cheers dakey

I am back again lads, wifeys having a lie in so got nothing better to do. just watched fabregas on sky news, he was asked if Arsenal are back in the title race. " it is so tight, anyone can win it" was his reply. WHAT HAVE THEY ALL BEEN DRINKING AT XMAS? it is extremely tight for runners up you couldnt get a cig paper between about 5 of you. The actual title is not tight it is sown up solid, packed and sealed and on its way to the theatre, just a matter of time.

[speak to you all later, when we get beat at Birmingham, ha ha]

Fellas, I watched with amazement all those years ago when 'dolly the sheep' was cloned from a living specimen. Last night at st andrews Birminghams own creation from the mixed DNA of Peter Crouch, Dolph Lungdron and an octopus was just as impressive. It was wonderful to see it soar through the air, flattening everything in its path, fling out a tentacle and divert the ball into the path of the odious Bowyer for a hardly deserved late equalizer. No matter, we have professional officials trained and tutored to the highest standards to spot offences like that. It would surely not be allowed to stand, Would it?

Step up the premier leagues own creation, Mason along with his visually challenged assistant surely a clone of Mr Bean and Norman Wisdom combined to allow the goal. Never mind that bowyer should have been despatched earlier for his disgraceful over the top stamp on Gibsons ankle instead of the cowardly yellow card only.

This year has not been as bad as last year for these type of decisions so you have to give them some credit for the improvement, but it is frustrating that in an age when men have walked on the moon that fans of all clubs can have their hopes, dreams and legitimate expectations infuenced by these serial incompetents and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

It will just mean that the title will now be coming home in March instead of February.

Cheers, Dakey

Me again lads,

I have just read that City are in for Dzeko, whoever that is. Mancini was asked what he could bring to the party and he said " I am not sure, but I need at least 6 strikers so I can organise a weekly rota on strikers asking for a transfer"

Cheers Dakey

One day he may get bored talking to himself-hopefully!

MInd you i do feel sorry for Man Usa, After all they never ever got a dodgy freekick or penalty when ronaldo used to trip over his own laces whilst dancing the fandango!

As they say, it balances out over the season so Dakey can expect a few more of those bad decisions against his team until we see it level out.

They now know how the rest of us feel..

Sure it wont be long before we see the unwritten rules of Fergie applied properly again..

George & jonew

Nice to see a contribution from someone else, No george I will not get bored talking to myself, if your posts are anything to go by, it will probably be the only stimulating conversation to be had. Anyway keep them coming as I am only trying to revive.the thread and keep it going as it can be quite entertaining when several of us contribute

Agree the goal shold never have stood, but it was yet another disapointing away performance from us Dakes.  I am really disapointed he set the side-up as he did last night.   They really should be going to places like St Andrews & take the game to the opposition - let them they worry about us.  Maybe without Nani his attacking options we are bit limited, but placing the spud faced nipper on the left, has never worked for me......with Birmingham playing 5 across the middle it was never goint to be be pretty, but they should have upped the anti & killed the game  off at 1-0, but as usual we sat back and invited them on..........

Need to bring in at least one in in the window, just to freshen things up for the run-in.  Not going to get reall quality in Jan, but as a minimum should recall Cleverley from Wigan & preferably get shut of Carrick.............he just doesnt anything of any real note anymore........just pases sideways & then at the death allowed Bowyer (who shouldn't have been on the pitch by the way) to ghost in and score.

Nothing too much to worry about from the challanges.   Arsenal look the bets but will also drop points, Chelski are more worried about what's happening below them now & Ciddy......well......they will continue to supply plenty of comedy along the way.   Spurs could well be the one to worry about.....

Happy New Year to ALL footy fans whoever you follow.   Lets hope it is a good one

Skell x

Jay,

Not going to gloat at the dropping of 2 points against 10 man Wigan, as, like us you were the victim of comic book refereeing. I have watched football for a long time and it is generally agreed that if you lift your arm above your head in a defensive wall and the ball hits your arm then it is a stonewall penalty. How can a supposed professional set of officials watching a dead ball situation not spot that, or more worryingly, spot it and make the decision of no penalty. unbelievable!

I think, whoever you support and whatever your expectations, we are all just going to have to accept these buffoons as part and parcel of the package and just try to rise above it because they are going to have an affect on everyone before it is over.

Cheers Dakey

Well guys, halfway through the festive fixtures and its advantage Man City and Spurs with maximum points followed by UTD and Arsenal with 4 points each and Chelsea bringing up the rear with 3. As we all know that can change in a heartbeat. Nice to see Howard Webb get his MBE [member of the blind executive] for his two mistakes that gifted Spain the World Cup.

It will be interesting to see how Blackpool react to playing City at Eastlands, I mean, they are used to playing in front of full houses at home, the sight of large swathes of empty terracing might unnerve them slightly.

Have a prosperous New Year everyone.

Cheers, Dakey

Until video technology comes in then all teams will experience good and bad decisions but it does seem some teams have a bit more sway than others with referees.

The ironic thing I always find is FIFA's argument that it will slow the game down.

They must be watching different games from me as it normally takes a minute or so to calm everyone down after a contentious decision.

Why can't they simply put a ref in a room with all the TV feeds.  His job is just to pass on anything he sees in the penalty box.  The ref on the pitch can then make the decision but with more information available.  Basically an extra assistant ref.

Alright guys A belated happy new year to you all. Just been over at CDA for a few days which was nice but haven't had a chance to comment on the football that's been served up for us over the festive period. So much has happened it's hard to know where to start.......oh no it's easy actually the grove on the 27th seems the best point. A thoroughly enjoyable performance from the Arsenal with a resounding thumping of chelski which has a been a little to long coming since gallas's winner a couple of seasons ago. The whole team played well that night and whilst I understand the need to rotate I think Arsene over did the changes at the jjb on the Wednesday and the resulting draw confirms that. Dakey your right on the refs fab gave a penalty away against the sp*rs for exactly the same sort of incident and there is literally no consistency at all! (apart from the gary neville consistency that is!!!!!!!) Arsenals defensive inconsistencies are well documented and very evident however I would like to think that financially we are in position to strengthen in that area and hope that Wenger will get the cheque book out. Johan dhjorou played well against chelski and was also prominent in the win at St Andrews which was really as good a result when you examine it. Chelski are proper flaking now which I can't see changing over night. Utd are still spluttering but getting away with it but have the edge marginally mainly because of the games in hand. Rooney's out for 2 weeks apparently and they aint the same with out the granny hunter!! So that leaves Citeh and a potentially great game coming on Wednesday at the Grove. Will Nasri who is in blistering form continue where he left off at St Andrews or will fab and RVP continue their return to full match fitness. It really is a massive game and as a football fan I hope that Citeh come and play and are not too defensive. It's turning out to be the best season for a very very long time and there will definitely be some twists and turns to come. I really dont believe that anyone is going to run away with it and that it will be fascinating all the way till the end. We are in there with maybe three other potential winners who can all be brilliant one day and drive you mad the next day. All the best to you all for 2011 Jay

George,

You are quite correct, Gary Neville has played two games this season where he should have been sent off in both games, hopefully Fergie will see that he is now a liability and although he has been a great servant injuries have caught up with him and that should be his last competitive game for us. having said that, his two instances are probably the only things we have got away with this season, even in this game where we were very fortunate to win we had a stonewall penalty denied as well. At least West Brom were awarded one, it is not our fault that the lad bottled it.

Like I said, these refs are going to cost everyone, Arsenal should have had a pen against Wigan, bur Van persie got away with a blatent handball for Brum to come back to 1-1 and ended up 3-0 winners. Among all the brilliant competitive football these decisions continue to frustrate the hell out of everyone but it wont change so we all have to take the rough with the smooth and get on with it.

The bottom line though is although it is a scramble at the top as well as the bottom, Utd would have to lose at least two games and the other contenders win their games for anyone to get level with us and in a tight league where surprise results are the norm That is still a tall order and ours to throw away.

Happy New Year everyone

Cheers, Dakey

Dakey, you're spot on that it'll be hard to catch United the way the season's going. United may be unbeaten but the fact they have failed to kill off so many away games has given the other teams a chance.  Who would have thought Chelsea could go through a run of 1 win in 7 or 8 (from memory) but still be in touch with Utd who are unbeaten.

Its going to make the games between the title contenders very important indeed.  I will be watching in anticipation of some fireworks.

Am looking forward to your visit to the Lane.  Certainly if Spurs want to stay in the mix (as outsiders mind you) we'll need to take something from the game.  I'm certain we will throw everything into the game.  I'm just hoping we don't end up with any more suspensions...just as the injuries start coming right we get a liking for playing with 10 men.

And I have to disagree completely with the comments on Gary Neville.  As far as I'm concerned he's a key player for Uinted...and definitely, certainly, must start against Spurs!!!

Shane,

If Fergie pits Neville against Bale, you will win about 10-0. indeed if he picks him again he is taking the piss. Chelsea are six points behind played a game more and have a inferior goal difference. Hardly in touch I would say.

Fellas,

Grinding them out lads, grinding them out. We have done our bit now over to you lot, the pressure is really on for you all to stay in touch and we will now see just who has the bottle for it. Really looking forward to tonights game at the Emirates, then the highlights of all the other ones. I have got a feeling that Arsenal will push us closest, but I have been known to be wrong on the odd occasion.

Just a closing point Jay, you mentioned that we are not the same without Rooney, but the facts do not bear that out. In our 25 game unbeaten league run Rooney has only played in 6 of them. We cant have fluked all those other games could we?

Cheers, Dakey

Going to the grove tonight with me better half as my birthday treat. I'm hoping that Arenal will deliver a nice little pressie for me but expecting Citeh to give us more of a game than they did at eastlands earlier in the season. It's a must win for both sides really. Caught a bit of the utd game on streampro last night and Utd certainly were better than stoke who's defending at times was awful.

Dakey those stats are suprising as UTD don't look to be the same team without Rooney but they are obviously  (bar the blackburn game) a bunch of grinders!!

Enjoy (not you Dave sorry)

Jay,

I will be cheering on the gunners tonight as anything except a City win will leave us with a points lead plus games in hand so it is a selfish point of view rather than any latent affection for Arsenal.

On the subject of jinxing your team by making inappropriate comments, did you see Ancelottis interview where he said that Chelsea would win at Wolves tonight without any problems. I think he has just given Mick MacArthys' team talk for him. Spurs away at Everton is another potential banana skin. Its going to be a great night of football to round off a brilliant festive period. Why would anyone want to have a break at xmas? The players get well paid to put on a show for us during the holiday break and I for one would not like to see it tampered with. It works, so lets expect Blatter to come in and mess it all up with an enforced break.

Cheers, Dakey
