Like a sudden death to someone close, that diabolical decision the other night was beginning to fade after a period of mourning and even Chaddy has gone a bit quiet now, but I have just seen something in the Chelsea game that has stirred my ire again. I dont want to talk about a very pleasant defeat for Chelsea by a sunday league standard team, I want to refer to an incident in the 74th minute (for all of you who maybe want to pinpoint the incident.) I will describe it to you as it unfolded. A Steaua midfielder and quite a small chap miscontrolled a ball in the centre of the pitch, the ball bounced up away from him towards Mikel at face height. bear in mind that Mikel is about 6ft 4" tall. In a vain attempt to regain control the Steaua player raised his foot up and nicked both the ball and Mikels chin, YES CHIN! The referee 5 yards away immediately and quite rightly gave a free kick to Chelsea.... Then followed it with NOTHING! no yellow card, no red card, NOTHING other than a free kick. Someone explain to me why a high boot at the level of Mikels chin trying to control a ball is a free kick, but a high boot at someones waist level trying to control a ball is a straight red card! The ref in the Chelsea game got it absolutely spot on and that little cheating english hating scumbag the other night should never be let anywhere near a football pitch ever again!

Now I am going to try and calm down again till something happens in the Spurs game that I can compare it to and I will be off on one again.

The ref clearly wanted the player to stay on the pitch so that he could do it again to Mikel or possibly the ball boy beater!!! ;)

Amazing performance going on from Spurs at the moment. As I said previously the power is shifting. We may have to watch out for them over the next few years. I bet Arsenal and Chelsea fans are loving it! Another ex Chelsea manager that is doing well having moved on to a bigger club with more class.
Dakey - when is City"s Europa league game? Have I missed it?

Kev,

Just stop it! I stopped winding Jay and Neil up some time ago when I realised they were no longer a threat to us, in fact I have developed quite a soft spot for them as, genarally speaking, the british like an underdog. One thing still guaranteed to get them at it though is telling them that Spurs have overtaken them in the pecking order. Naughty naughty!

Jay, I am still waking up in the morning with a lot of pent up anger inside me and that will take a while to subside. Injustice tends to do that for you.

Kev, On the European front City have put in an appeal, they are distraught that Bonnie Tyler has been selected ahead of them and they are just not standing for it!

Sorry Dakey - I later remembered that City had already been knocked out of the Europa League as well as everything else but the FA Cup (where their Jammy draws are making it easy for them).

Even Jay and Neil hve to admit that a 3 - 0 thumping of Inter is a good result following on from a derby victory?

Like you, I have developed a soft spot for Arsenal and will be hoping they do well next week so I can't understand why Jay is so hostile!

I understand Bonnie Tyler said she'd be happy finishing tenth in her European competition - something City could aim for next season?

Finally, I'd like to reiterate my point about how successful Chelsea managers seem to be after having been sacked by that classless club. Rafa will almost certainly break that trend in the future!

Kev,

City out of CL just like Manure!

City still in FA cup just like Manure!

City still in hunt for Premiership title just like Manure!

Dakey,

Mikels chin is at same level as Arbeloa's knee so no crime no foul!

Nanny's foot was well over 6 feet off the ground and only for the grace of god did a very serious ( Near Death) injury not occur to that poor Madrid player, I am pleased that Arbeloa made his quite valid and LEGAL attempt to challenge for that ball by jumping in the air for it rather than Nanny boys reckless and downright despicably disgustingly dangerous Hong Kong Phooey/Taekwondo effort!

Seems like Old Bacon Face has been taking his chill pills and finally had the courage he should have shown on the famous night to speak out about his daft team selections and the brave refereeing decision made that night..

I think we should have a refs exchange scheme with Turkey so he can show Old Rudolph Red Nose what he cant buy.

Chaddy,

City out of CL just like Utd. Correct.... but you severely embarrassed yourselves yet again, we were robbed, simples!

City still in FA Cup just like Utd. Correct... But lower league opposition for you for 3 rounds, premier league opposition for us for 4 rounds, simples!

City still in hunt for premier league just like Utd. INcorrect! That is like saying North Korea will smarten up the Yanks in a Nuclear bun fight! You wont even hang on for runners up. At the risk of upsetting Jay, that dubious accolade is going to Spurs.

No Chaddy, in the final analysis, you have had your little two years in relative sunshine, its back to life in the big shadow for you again mate. simples!

Jay,

They just seem to have the momentum at the right time and momentum at this time of year is everything, I wish the Gunners were showing something that would give me confidence that they too could overhaul the morally bereft outfits, but at this particular time I think it is beyond your capabilities so we just have to plump for Spurs to do it instead. I know that probably puts you in a bit of a quandry as I know you detest the easy money clubs but your strong local rivalry gets in the way of hoping Spurs finish above them. its kind of a lose/lose situation for you isnt it mate.

I have just read an article by Mancini where he states that the FA cup is "very important". Now you dont have to be a brain surgeon to realise that the FA Cup is the only thing that can stop Citys season from being an absolutely pathetic failure! So yes mr mancini, the FA Cup is not just very important to your underachieving club, it is the difference between a laughing stock and a semblence of credibility. The problem you will have is when you beat Barnsley and inevitably draw the winners of Blackburn and Millwall in the semi, there will then be no more lower division teams left to play in the final and beating premier league teams has been a bit difficult for you this season, so whoever you meet in the final will be a struggle for you.

Read a very interesting article this morning in the mirror too. It was all about Fergie and how in 16 attempts to beat a Mourinho team he's only achieved twice. It seems to me that utd now with what Fergie calls his best ever squad have failed yet again and when you think that they have been ever presents its really is a massive failure that they have only won the CL twice. The vast Advantage they have had in terms of monetary clout and squad strength throughout this time asks massive questions over his tactical capability. He keeps blaming refereeing decisions but its 20 years now and the other night was I my opinion his last opportunity. Jose's patronising attempts to disguise fergies shortcomings fooled nobody. I said it few weeks ago he's lucky Citeh have seriously under performed because his antics this season have surpassed anything previously seen and he's seriously under pressure and my god it's showing!

Statistics Jay can say lots of things, There have been a lot of draws in there as well, but two games certainly stand out for me. 1-0 up against porto after drawing away 0-0 and on half time Scholes scores a perfectly good goal, two yards onside but given offside, that would have finished the game there and then. Porto equalised in the last minute and went through on away goals. So theres two draws against Porto for starters. then there is the other night, robbed whilst winning, both decisions by the way by the same official once as linesman and once as ref. He has now sent off 7 players from English clubs against none from the opposition, now isnt that a telling stat?

On the subject of CL wins I think you will find that 2 wins and two finals compares favourably with most since the advent of the CL. There are only a couple of clubs who have won more in that time. The CL in its present format is quite easy to qualify for but infinately more difficult to actually win as all the best teams from the top leagues are in it as well as all the Champions by the way. The 12 premier leagues that we have won, If we had then gone on to play in the old Champions only format where there was only ever 4 or 5 good teams in it, we would be on about 8 european cups by now, without a shadow of a doubt. By the way Jay, another old wrinkly frenchman who has been in it the same number of years as Fergie has never won it once so you have nothing to gloat about mate.

Oh I'm not gloating....just pointing out the facts mate. I just think that the power that man utd have had at their disposal has not wielded the results in that competition that it should of done.

Our manager is under more pressure than ever before and I'm glad.

Jay,

Its a fair and debateable point you make, but when you say power for the last seven years or so we have been paying approx 80 million quid a year interest payments to that sheister owner that was allowed to buy us on the never never. I dont recall the other european giants Barca, Real or Bayern being hamstrung in that manner each year before a ball has been kicked. No, I still say 4 finals and 2 wins is a reasonable return for our efforts, but like all fans I would obviously have liked a bit more.

I see the bitters cantered through another round against a Yorkshire pub team, I think I will get a few bob on them drawing Blackburn or Millwall in the semis.

You can bank on it!! Has a prem team ever got to the final without ever meeting opposition from the same league?

I wonder!

No, Chaddy

The draws are not fixed and you take whatever luck you can get as that is the fickle nature of cup football, which, by the way also makes it very exciting. Unlike league football where you can ride with the ups and downs and usually the best team triumphs in the end. ( that is why we have won the premier league more times than all the rest put together).

Jay, I have to stick up for Chaddy on one minor point that he has not picked up on of yours. City cannot be the first club to draw lower division teams all the way to Wembley as one of their previous 4 rounds was against Stoke, which is only marginally more difficult than a lower division team, but it is still a premier league outfit. Other than that though, for the rest of it their journey so far is more akin to the Johnstones Paint Trophy than the FA cup. Dont worry though, despite ALL our games so far being against premier league opposition, we will sort out Chelsea, then Wigan and finally City to become the exact opposite of City.... The first team to win the FA Cup after drawing top flight teams in every round. Now that would be a team that deserves to win it!!
