Dakey/Dave - Jeb is still keeping an 'eye on spain' and this blog except not so often as there are so many 'richards' posting these days, but I do still enjoy my football banter - I have to say I thought we were dead and buried on Saturday but that was the MOTHER OF ALL COMEBACKS (well your CL win against Bayern was pretty good as was pools miracle a few tears back) as far as the EPL is concerned and had that final pass have gone to anyone other than JAGS I think there would have been a riot - is that ref one of Fergies secret MANU supporters ?

At the end of the day though I was dissapointed, we opened fantastically but then UTD's high cost quality started to come through, Berb was a star but I don't know what you'll do when Giggs and Scholes hang up their boots - maybe go the way of L'Pool - ie down down down ?

We now have a measly 2 pts from 4 games despite having played quite well but it's early days and we'll see where we are by XMAS. Think Chelsea could run away with it though. It's a really interesting start and points to a really competitive league this year. Am enjoying watching BLACKPOOL ROCK - how can City spend all that dosh and be behind them ???? Again we'll see by XMAS.

It is indeed a strange old game.

As for Rooney, young man, too much time on his hands, so much money he doesn't know how to spend it, feel sorry for the wee girl he married !

On a lighter note, I was bitterly disappointed not to see young Wayne playing on Saturday.......

Only for the reason that, apparently, the Everton fans had planned to sing the Bob Marley classic.............

.....No woman no Kai.........ouch!

Fellas,

I keep sitting down to post comments but I am laughing that much that my hands are shaking and I cant type, but let me try anyway.

Man City; It just gets funnier and funnier, seeing them mess it up big style after spending all that money is just beyond my wildest expectations with the likes of Blackburn, Sunderland and now West Brom giving them the runaround. It cannot get any worse for them, or can it?

I thought I was happy about The City fiasco, but what is happening at Anfield is even funnier! totally outplayed by Northampton at anfield, Bill Shankly will be turning in his grave. Hodgson, who I used to respect saying they deserved a draw at Old Trafford last week, He must be going blind and senile at the same time, they look like doing a Leeds with every passing game.

Lets finish on the subject of the nonsense being spouted about Chelsea, they have been spoon fed 5 patsys to open their league campaign, I mean, if they had dropped a point to any of  West Brom, Stoke and Blackpool at home and Wigan and West Ham away then that would have been a surprise. The two competitive outings they have had they were tonked by United at Wembley and Tonked by Newcastle at Stamford Bridge, hardly inspiring stuff is it? lets have a little look after the next two games against City and Arsenal to get a more balanced view of how good they actually are.

I will finish by congratulating United and Arsenal, who are both still unbeaten in all competitions, there is hope that the beautiful game will prevail after all.

Now if that little lot doesnt get the competitive juices flowing then I think nothing will!

Cheers Dakey

Come on fellas, where are you all? Is the dominance of Utd and the abject displays of most of the rest of you got you all tongue tied?

Dave, I know you must be gutted by your beloved blues and somebody has probably had to talk you down from a very tall building in Manchester Centre, but I did try to help you years ago when I told you to bite the bullit and go with your latent hidden instinct to support Utd. your life would have been a lot more enjoyable alongside most of us mancunians.

dont worry mate you have always got Rangers anti football to fall back on to cheer you up.

If no one is prepared to engage in light hearted football banter, then reluctantly I will have to accept that you have all given up the ghost and the thread has died the death.

I was trying to hold on to see if we could scrape a result against the London Blues tomorrow. When playing your kids and you lose its always going to go down as cocky or disinterest in the League cup. I certainly would have been happy with a near full strength side winning 4-0 and going all the way. Mancini has heaped extra pressure on tomorrows game by going out in that manner. However we did beat Chelsea home and away last season, so lets just see.

Against Rangers you were absolutely dross. Not a single shot on target in 98 minutes?????????? Rangers came for and got what they wanted. They are hoping for second place in the group at best. It would make me chuckle big style if they were second to Valencia!!!!!!!!

A guy that we were with in Salzburg for the City game was prattling on about a bet of £100 he has on the Europa final being contested by City and Utd in Dublin. That result against Rangers, the fact that your next is in Valencia and also Rangers will go at you at home is abit of a sqeaky bum time for you. His bet could be closer. Your squad depth is pretty poor.

Finally How on earth do you reckon that Chelsea's start is any harder than yours this season. Have you seen the positions of the teams you have played.

You must have upset all the boys from last year!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was it somethin you said????????????????

Thats more like it Dave, Nice try, but we have never played in the Eufa or Europa league as its now called as we have never finished low enough to qualify. The one season we had a disaster in CL qualifying we were that bad that we finished bottom of the group and missed out altogether. I must put you right on Squad strength, Fergie made ELEVEN changes to the team that hammered Liverpool and we still knocked in five at a canter. Mr Mancini made a couple of changes from his multi billion pound squad and West Brom ran you ragged. In the first five league games you will not get many more difficult tests than Fulham and Everton away and a Derby against Liverpool, irrespective of their temporary league positions. If mr Ancelloti had been able to pick his opening 5 fixtures he would not have changed any of the ones he was given, except perhaps to change one of them for City.

Still, this weekend will be one of those rare occasions when I will be rooting for our nice blue neighbours to come up with something, so good luck and lets hope your players turn up and have a good go at it.

Cheers, Dakey

Fulham and Everton did something to us last year that your lot have not managed to do, They both won against us, so give them a little bit of respect. I think you have a downer on Fulham because Mark Hughes has bettered himself and moved up a level from his last job!

I am on The BP Andrew as we speak, Dave, Changing out a firepump. You cannot move on here without a safety guy auditing you. they are very twitchy after their American experience.

Dave,

For the first time I agree with you on something, you are quite right that we will not finish near them this year..... as we will win it and from what I have seen up till now they will finish fourth! That is my early season appraisal of the situation, you and Arsenal will battle it out for runners up and I think the gunners penchant for throwing in a dire performance when the pressure is on will see you pip them. Will it be the first time since 1968 that the two Manchester clubs finish 1st and 2nd? The added bonus at this point is that unlike 1968 there is a real chance that the two Merseyside clubs will be relegated, now wouldnt that be something!

I wasnt having all the hysterical hype about Chelsea after they turned over a few non-entities, Ancelloti, though, insists they need not panic even though they have lost 3 of the 9 games played so far. He said they have just got to get back to doing what they did so well in most of the tight games last year and they will be alright. By that he means that the Referees have got to start giving them crucial contoversial decisions at critical times and they will then come good again!

Dave, the wind may be gale force, the waves are 10 metres high and the rig is swaying like the crowd in the old Kippax Street, but from where I am sitting at the moment lifes just a big bowl of cherries.

Cheers and thank you, Dakey

Looks like I am still posting to myself, with the odd comment from my misguided mate Dave, but I have to say that with the odd exception, now everything is settling down, I have never seen such a strong Premier league, there have been some fantastic games this weekend and a lot of the so called " small clubs" have really stepped up to the plate. So may I congratulate West Brom, West Ham and Man City for turning the league on its head, recording unlikely wins and to Sunderland and Bolton for coming close.

From our point of view, these tough away games just keep getting tougher, but unlike the other fancied clubs we managed to salvage something out of nothing. Only time will tell if these single away points are points gained or points lost. If things continue along the lines of this weekend then I can see the most competitive Premiership ever being won with the least number of points.

Nevertheless, I am not complaining, am I alone in thinking the football this season so far has been brilliant.

Jeb, You were eulogising last season over Johnny Evans. He has now had a good run in the team due to Rio being injured and I have to say that of the nine league goals we have let in six have been down to his mistakes, so if you can persuade Mr Moyes to put in a decent bid we will snatch his hand off! what do you think?

Cheers Dakey

Hi again Dave,

I have been waiting for a euphoric post from you on the fact that you are above us now until at least the end of the Internationals, where is it? taking stock of everything, it looks like a 3 horse race already, Despite loving the way Arsenal play they have not addressed their weaknesses and cannot be considered serious contenders. I am optimistic because despite some really difficult away games we are still unbeaten in all competitions and with Rio back for Evans we now look solid again at the back, although Fergie deliberately weakening the team on occasions could harm us in the long run.

One thing that puzzles me though is despite City spending all that money and being serious contenders for the first time in nearly a lifetime, you still cannot fill the ground! When I watch City at home, the Stands look like they have got alopecia, there are little bald patches all over the place! can you explain why you cannot fill it or is it that you have just not got enough fans. I think it must be as simple as that mate.

Cheers Dakey

Hi Dave,

I bet when you spent all that money, you never dreamed that a lady Sunderland fan would be taking the mick did you? Anyway, I have just landed back from A nice little trip to Las Vegas with my lovely wife, What a fantastic place that is! She was like a little kid in a candy store what with all those designer shops and spectacular shows. I never thought I would admit it, but Donny and Marie, Cher and the Rat Pack shows were really entertaining and with plenty of gambling, drinking and scantilly clad girls dancing on the bars, even you City fans could forget about your depressing little team for a few days! We stayed in the Bellagio Hotel and that is something else on its own, all in all it was nearly as good as Condado!

I will give Jeff a ring as he usually sorts a night out for the boys around Xmas, if you want me to have a word with your other half so she will allow you out just let me know and I will sort it for you.

PS, we are having a torrid time at UTD if you read the papers, but we are still unbeaten! heaven help you all when we get going!

Cheers Dakey

isn't it wonderful how the cream always rises to the top - I expect we'll be in the top 4 by Xmas now !

Fergie must be kicking himself about letting Tevez go - he made the difference for City today !

And as for Rooney I don't think we'd even take him back now !

You had some lucky referring decisions though and some lucky breaks. Blackpool looked good - worried about playing them now

Quite a few points to comment on after an interesting weekend, first and foremost I have to agree with SAFs stance re Rooney, He has brought the club into disrepute and is now behaving like a spoilt child. He will not be the first to be discarded by Sir Alex and he is certainly not the best, although in his own mind he thinks he is. What i am worried about though is the managers continued and ongoing tinkering with the line up for no logical reason, that more than anything else will cost us dear if it continues.

The next point is, have Man City taken over from Chelsea as the recipient of dodgy refereeing decisions? how Blackpool lost that game is a travesty, offside goals awarded to City, Not offside goals disallowed for Blackpool, It will be interesting to see what City Dave has to say on the matter.

It looks like Everton are turning the corner, which was always likely as they have good players. Liverpool however, have not and with the present Squad can quite easily go down, it has happened before to better teams. we shall see.

The General concensus is that Man Utd are in decline, but no one is taking into account that we NEVER start the season well and ALWAYS come stronger after Xmas.

I will finish on a little statistic, Of the 100 plus teams in English football only two, QPR and UTD are unbeaten. If you widen it to encompass all competitions, that small list drops to just UTD. Some crisis eh?

Cheers Dakey
