If my memory serves me that was the final that they were losing until injury time and in which their opponents then missed a penalty before they jammed it on pens. If George was honest he'd admit the whole campaign that year was flakey. Apart from which he needs to move on from the odd ancient victory. Only clubs with a heritage built up over decades should look back over consistent years of winning. At the moment that's the Gunners and ourselves even despite their recent lack of trophies. ok dakey 20 quid who finishes higher and if you think beating wigan in a one off game is bigger than winning the europa cup by beating all comers and then benfica in the final ,(a game in whcih torres scored again!)then you are a bit weird dakey.you stick to your charity shield mate. itll look god on your teddy bear wall! and the other wager was moyes will go in 2 seasons!

i see the dinosaur is following in old red noses footsteps by withdrawing all his players from tonights friendly- carrick apparantly has an eye infection-lol. i dont count rooney as a utd player anymore as he only trains with your yoofs as he pines for a move to a more successful club in london.

At the risk of sounding boring, to get to the point of 'beating allcomers' and by 'allcomers' you mean everyone but the best teams who were all competing in the CL. you actually lost to the 'allcomers' from your domestic league and the 'allcomers' in the CL groups to actually qualify to beat the 'allcomers' that were left in the losers cup. For us to triumph in the 'one off' game we first had to overcome the 'allcomers' including yourselves in our domestic league over 38 games, to face the team who beat 'allcomers' in the FA Cup, so by definition it was a 'one off' battle of winners who triumphed over 'allcomers' to be there.

Amazing to think that its 14 years since we last played scotland. I was lucky enough to get 4 tickets for that game . However someone offered me a sum i was unable to turn down before we played the 1st leg at hampden.the result 0-2 to england meant that the 2nd game was a formality. England lost the 2nd game 0-1. I was happy as larry on my free pints watching in the pub!

What a good entertaining game of football that was, we just had a bit too much for the jocks in the end despite Jo-ke Hart and donkey Cahils best efforts to throw it away. happy there was no injuries to our 6 boys, Rooney, Wellbeck, Cleverly, Jones, Zaha and Baines! Now bring on the good stuff

Talk about hypocrisy, got up this morning to find that Jose has said that Luiz would not be allowed to leave this window to Barca or anywhere else and that is the end of it, despite Luiz saying he wants to talk with them. On the other hand Utd insist that Rooney is not for sale at any price, Rooney has never once spoke about wanting to talk to Chelsea or anyone else for that matter, but Jose keeps coming out with comments about wanting him etc etc. Live by the sword and so die by the sword Jose you cant have it both ways.

dakey, please enlighten me and tell me where luiz has said he wants to talk to anyone and has even thought about a move. he is the future captain of the mighty blues and although he signed a new deal only last year jose has just got him to sign a new 5 year deal. all our players are very happy to stay and no one wants to leave.However eto and rooney are desperate to join us ., and no one seems to want to join up with the dinosaur. so get your facts right dakey before spouting your normal rubbish.

Big question for England in World Cup year is who will be goalkeeper in Rio if we make it? After a couple of seasons when Hart was outstanding he is now making too many errors. Rooney needs a break too as he isn't the force he was a few years ago.

Arsenal's approach to transfers has become a real puzzle...
They do have money to spend, and they have one very rich shareholder who's apparently willing to put up more funds if required (though maybe they don't want to give Usmanov too much clout). But their behaviour is very odd.
Their weaknesses are screamingly obvious. They've not replaced Lehmann, they've not replaced Vieira, they've not replaced Fabregas, they've not replaced Henry or Van Persie. They've had a succession of inadequates or not-quites in central defence and midfield. Creative attacking players have been brought in and flattered to deceive (Arshavin, Rosicky). Forays into France turned up Chamakh and Giroud.
Yet when real talents are on their radar they always seem to come up short of securing them. Juan Mata is an obvious example. He was just what they needed, they were in for him but wouldn't cough up the extra cash. Now it appears they've done the same with Luiz Gustavo: also just what they needed, but it looks as if they've been outbid - by Wolfsburg! They They were interested in Capoue - and lost out to Spurs. They are - apparently - serious about Luiz Suarez but have entangled themselves in a seemingly impossible situation.
The keeper situation is simply bizarre. Again and again they've brought in average performers. You can understand Wenger sticking with Sneezy for a time, but evidently he doesn't have complete faith in him. Julio Cesar ought to be an obvious signing. Top keeper, experienced international, winner. He's even available on a free. They still haven't made a move.

What about Santi podolski and Giroud Who all between em made more and scored more than Torres for a fraction of what you twots paid. All the above will do even better this season and when you add the HOME GROWN talents of Gibbs and jenkinson and ramsey's resurgence and the best midfielder in the country In wilshire we ain't looking to sad. A couple of additions and we're be right there and off our own back !!!! So smoke that sugar daddy boy!! Jay

To be honest, you could do with a few additions to both bolster the squad and the confidence, but the way you rolled over the self proclaimed 'best squad in the league' last week was impressive to say the least so I can understand your renewed confidence. Dont get upset by snide comments from the bought and paid for brigade who dont care how much they are spending or on whom and thus severely damaging the infrastructure of top football. Just keep up the good work and hopefully by Xmas there will be daylight between both Utd and Arsenal and the rich losers below us.
And stop trying to wind me up about Rooney, we both know he is going nowhere.
