There is a huge beach at the bottom of the hill which is safe for kids to play football on. I understand that this is a 5 minute walk and due to the roads some parents will want to supervise their kids in getting them there , I feel this is the best and safest option. Unfortunately, there is not a suiltable area at DJ 1,2 or 3 to create a dedicated kids play area or 5-a-side football pitch. As Ray said this is a residential complex and not a holiday one. There are enough garden areas at DJ for kids to meet up and play without being too noisy. If they want to try to recreate the world cup, the best place for them is the beach, park or play area provided by the municipality.

I am not anti kids, but I feel all owners at Don Juan should ensure that their dogs, kids and renters should not cause nuisance to other residents.

Regards Andy

 well said.

i also think there are better things to spend any money on than kids play areas.

for example: 'under-pinning' the bottom of bloque 6 in where it is starting to collapse due to being built far to close to the edge of the valley!

Hello Irene, you said:

"Hi have you thought block 6,7,8,10 have the noise from the pools from 10 am till 9 pm  so no where will be a right area"

However,

I sympathise with any permanent residents in the blocks with the pools (ours included) and I agree that steps should be taken to curtail the noise but those owners bought their apartments fully knowing that a pool was situated there and indeed many will have bought because of this.

We thought that there would be green areas to the front and side of us ( as on the original plans and sales particulars, of which I have copies) and specifically chose block 5 because of this.  The developer then thought it wise to build phase 2 and put a pool directly below and to the side our balcony.  Now you are saying that along with the noise from this unwanted pool we will have to put up with noise from a playground too!  This is unreasonable.

Other than the above there are many reasons why this is the wrong place for a playground, (if indeed there is a right place).  Don Juan cannot accommodate a playground and one was never incorporated into the original design. I know children need to play somewhere and as Otterandy has said there is a beach 5 mins away.

My renter is now in their third year and is the type of resident the community needs, I doubt that anyone knows they are there.

Sorry, but  I will fight this suggestion tooth and nail.

Suburban train every 20 minutes between Malaga centre and Fuengirola

As of September 11 there will be an improvement in the frequency of the commuter train C-1 circulating between Malaga and Fuengirola. The commuter train stops at major tourist attraction cores such as Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Los Boliches. In addition, this line links two key points in the arrival and departure of travelers to the capital of the Costa del Sol such as María Zambrano train station and Malaga airport terminal.

Specifically there will be trains every 20 minutes in both directions. The trains will depart from Malaga centre at 10, 30 and 50 of every hour and from Fuengirola at the full hour, 20 and 40 minutes. The beginning and end of service remains the same, starting at 5:30 am and ending at 10:30 pm.

This improvement is largely expected by habitual users of this popular line as especially during the summer months the number of passengers doubles easily, the wagon are always full always and many of them standing up. It will also have a positive effect for Malaga airport which receives large influxes of passengers who often travel with plenty of luggage. Thus, at the station airport Malaga-Costa del Sol, the number of passengers has grown by 41% during the first quarter of 2011.

in tha case on instead of wasting money on a play park for other peoples kids why not use the money and install sound screens at the bottom of the complex to reduce the noise of the trains!

Hello Bevron,

It would be very kind of you to tell us about your experience.

We are only interested, if it's possible to receive Dutch tv.

Otherwise for us it does not help.

Thank you,

Corrie

Hi CC,

That can be done relatively easy. Bevron lives in phase I where everyone can get a connection to a dish of his choice (within reasonable limits) for a fixed connection fee. That´s in the contract we have with our community supplier to avoid balcony dishes so I hope and assume Bevron will have used that supplier because part of the contract is unlimited free warranty on disc maintenance.

In phase I most people are connected to the large UK dishes, but there also Swedish, Swiss and Dutch satellites on the roofs placed on the same conditions by GemSat.

Unfortunately phase II´s old president was not willing to pay for the needed concrete reinforcement for dishes on the phase II blocks. So she has refused a similar arrangement.

There are a few options now:

-your new president is willing to enter into a similar agreement as it avoids the unsightly balcony dishes and enhances the value of the apartments.

-you make a private arrangement with some company although it´s unclear if dishes are allowed on the roofs (they are there but that doesn´t make it permitted and the new committee will act differently)

My advise is to use the same supplier as we have as community supplier as they do the job very well, have a reason to return to Don Juan anyway so they will turn up in case of misaligned dishes and they know how to handle the roofs here.

Together with Arrohabitatge I have arranged a concrete support for a large UK dish on block 5 so that got official approval. That job was also done by GemSat. Smaller dishes like the Dutch don´t need all that support work so can be done cheaper.

Max

Hello Max,

Thanks very much for your clear explanation.

I guess we will wait what happens in the future regarding our community, new president.

We're not in a hurry, but in the future when we will spend more time at Don Juan we want Dutch television to keep ourselves informed about what happens in Holland during our long stay.

Kind regards,

Chris and Corrie

Hi Corrie.

I  received information in regards to two companies serving various clients at Don Juan.  Gemsat.  &  WIFI.  I have been quoted two prices and I have yet to decide which one to choose.  I am sorry I can't be more helpful but with not being able to visit the property much,  I am having to decide if it is worth connecting for the few rental weeks that have been booked at this time.

If I do select one of the mentioned companies I will submit the result on EOS.

                                                                                                                                                                 Bevron.

can anyone recommend where to buy good quality tiles (that are a close match) for retiling the terrace and how much do they cost? Also does anyone know of a good contractor that can dig up the old tiles and relay new ones?

Thanks andy

Hi Andy,

Buying them proves difficult. We have searched in a lot of places but they will always look slightly different. The good news is that new tiles have a more closed surface which is fitting for outside usage. The current ones are too open so they absorb water including dirt and sea sand. The effect: hard to impossible to clean, the water in the tiles expands and shrinks due to the fast temperature changes around sunset so even more cracking than we already have.

Make sure new tiles are really made for outside surfaces. We have protected ours with a special coating which gave the same effect as better tiles and it worked, but it´s a lot of work. When the tiles have been cracked there is no other solution than to replace them. For our huge three bed wrap around this was too costly and the work too challenging.

We found a fine constructor who knows how to remove the old ones, lay a proper cement foundation and a closed membrane which goes up high against the wall to stop water from entering the hollow stones (a problem in some apartments) and lay new ones. They found quite good matching replacement tiles.

Max.

We are hiring a car and want to dump a couple of old style televisions and a few other bits (flat pack draws etc).

We normally would have put them next to the grey bins on the Paseo but I have been told that's not allowed anymore.

Does anyone know of a tip nearby or have any other ideas?

If they are in good working order, how about give them to a charity shop. Not sure where nearest one is though. Or maybe put them on Friday-ad Spain paper and give them away free and get them to collect. I think it is free to advertise. You can do it online.

The correct procedure is to ring the Town Hall on 900101889. They will tell you when they will collect it and you leave it by the bins.

I am sure it's not legal but many people still leave items of this nature beside the bins on a main road. There are plenty of North Africans about who take them away - often within  minutes. I guess this is a bit like giving them to charity!

There is also a waste amenity site at La Cala where you can legally dispose of just about anything but there is a charge for using it.
