 Hi Jow,

The information I have contradicts Irene's information. Our administrator has been in contact with the town hall and there have been made promises about a road around Christmas and there is a rumour that ADIF (the owner of that area) wil act in March, but so far I'm not convinced that this will really happen. Possibly one of the comittee members can shed more light on it.

The weather is still very bad. Over thirty degrees every day so I suggest you postpone your flight :)

Max.

The information I have about the road by the railway is the same as Max.

There is a peice in the Spanish Sur this week which says the roundabout on Carvajal Avenue which will be the junction with the road down the valley will be done within 3 months. It did not say when the actual road would be completed.

Hi Janice,

It was a relatively small peice in this week's paper. I haven't looked for it online and I don't see any mention of it in the English version. The preliminary work is actually started. There are signs up "rotunda Carvajal" & "dangerous works", new speed bumps, lane restrictions, a 20kph speed limit and part of the footpath has been removed just before you reach the Mary Luz building traveling towards Fuengirola.

Looks like we will be paying bigger bills in future.

council debt

Town Halls bailed out by government fund

The economic problems which have hit families and businesses have also left Town Halls throughout the region struggling for cash. Like many families, their income has fallen to the extent that they can no longer meet their bills, a situation that in some districts has existed for over a year. The collapse of the construction industry, a major source of income from licences and planning permissions, has left a considerable gap in budgets. Like local authorities worldwide, Town Halls had planned their expenditure based on budget predictions. Many had taken on contracts for public works and other commitments, but with the fall in income the debts began to pile up.
To help with the crisis the government relaxed some restrictions and timetables relating to IVA (VAT) and interest repayments and created the “Instituto de Crédíto Oficial” (ICO) to which local authorities could apply for loans to allow them to pay their debts to small and medium sizes businesses and individuals. This lifeline has been taken up by 13 of the 22 largest towns and cities in the province, borrowing a total of 113.2 million euros.
Fuengirola has the dubious honour of being top of the list of borrowers, receiving 58 million, which will go to pay current and old debts. The loan will rise to 72 million with interest and is repayable over six years and, in that period the council believe they will able to balance their books.

The Fuengirola mayor has always been very ambitious. Huge investments have been made into a new sports centre, lots of underground parkings and general improvements. I' m not a fan of her right wing party but I do believe that she will be able to repay the loans without raising the bills. She is a smart women and she knows very well what she is doing.

The investments made so far have raised the perception of Fuengirola as very good holiday space; especially to the Spanish tourists who think long and hard where to spend their holiday money. We had more than sixty percent Spanish holiday makers as renters for all the apartments we manage and that was not only due to our good marketing but also because of the perceived value of Fuengirola as a prime location.

Presumably that is the ultra -secret document as most of the people never received a report of the last EGM. In well run communities this kind of information is available to all of the owners. it helps to built to trust and convince prospective buyers to invest in a community.

Max your recent and not so recent on line feuding with the committee / community will not help build trust or convince any prospective buyer to invest in this community!

You would be surprised about our actual sales figures. We are the biggest estate agent on this community and by far the most successful. Sensible people appreciate solid information instead of the bunch of lies most real estate agents told us (luckily all the big ones are now gone without leaving even a adresss)
