I quote Morerosado:

I've noticed some have put larger text & extra text in their signatures.

Yep, I was guilty of doing that.......... due to what you said was:

 (often not so friendly) rivalry

So, I have changed it's appearance, as I wouldn't like to be linked with the above comment.

I am not an unfriendly person!

Is my signature better now?

I hope you approve?

No-one can take my cat away though, sorry!

I am interested why Fibby has been singled out. If you take time out and read past posts you will see that her information on taxes (which a lot of people bought and posted their thanks) were sold with a portion of this donated to a charity for a little girl with cancer, which I thought was excellent! The little girl, I believe, has since made a recovery with donations enabling her to go for the treatment that she needed, so as Justin says in his post, maybe a donation to charity?? Good idea I think.

I second Candyfloss's idea of a donation to charity and also a limit on the signature's content and   font size. Maybe it could also be arranged that those who do wish to contribute can only write their message in a regular size font and then only in black. That way we would all know the type of post it was and be able to quickly scroll past it.

Fibby's idea of charging more than just   postage for her tax form and making a donation to Emma's charity  was  terrific . Her generosity helped raise the profile of Emma's plight and the  members who bought one found them really helpful, although it must have been galling for her to discover that someone she gifted the form to was passing it off and distributing copies  free of charge.  It deprived Emma's charity of donations.

When Emmas health  improved and her family stopped accepting further donations, Fibby said that she was looking for another good cause to send the donations to and so she is not exactly running a business. Quite honestly I would not find anything in Fibby's signature disagreeable whilst it encourages people to purchase her form and thus contribute to some charity.

I do however object to the freeloaders who bounce onto a message board blatantly advertising some suspect 'get rich quick' type of dodgy business without even trying to add any useful content. Worse still are the ones who make a halfcock attempt at contributing   with  the sole purpose of advertising.

If an annual donation is decided upon may  I nominate the Adana dog rescue?

Tyler has asked me to say that if that is the route chosen, then he couldn't agree more with the money going to Adana, and so say the Mrs and I.

Thanks Sandra & Candyfloss,

I feel vindicated at last!

Crikey, that's a big word for me on a rainy, overcast, gloomy UK Thursday!!!

I support any animal charity going, except snakes.

Woah,,,,,,,scary unpredictable things....

Dogs cats, horses, gerbils, weasels, parrots, apes (Techno & Roberto included) etc., fine by me!

(Edited as I forgot Roberto in the ape category, thorreee!)

Please lets not make this thread into a 'vendetta', there really is no need.

I personally do not find any of the signatures offensive and after all, I have the choice of whether to read or click.

EOS is a fantastic site full of fantastic people helping with fantastic info...................of course there will be the odd 'Iknowitallandamonlyusingthistopromotemyownselfandmybusiness'.......................'cos it's an open forum.

Lets do what EOS has asked and give comment, not snide remarks that could hurt others, NO NEED.

Get rid of them all from forum posts - but maybe introduce a free service listing page for members to the general and community forums.

Having read this thread it's easy to see how divisive this is.  I was going to come to Fibby's defence (as Sandra and Flossy) then comment on others etc etc but really as More says we're not blind or stupid and can tell those selling services regardless of what's in their signature line or not.  Sometimes it is professional advice needed, sometimes just experience of a situation or local knowledge.  The beauty of this forum is that it has it all, in spades.

There are so many helpful people on the forum that only through experience of using the forum do we know if comments are to help others or get their names known.  I couldn't list all of the members who have been a treasure trove of help, advice and support through the forum and pm's, as there are too many.  Most of them are the 'oldies' and those with 'high sores' of posting but that doesn't mean others don't have worthwhile contributions.  The blaggers are annoying and can be seen a mile off.

Follow my example and use ******* .  That means for years now even I don't know who I am (too much vino when registering)!!

Good luck Justin!

I agree with Karensun. I don't have a problem with the way things are and can choose whether to click or not to click.  I really don't think this encourages excess rubbish being posted.

Regards, Poppyseed
