Most of the people locally all seem to have purchased them from breeders in Madrid...any thoughts?

Thanks

Please, please do bear in mind what Morerosado says - I just read an article saying that the RSPCA has seen a 57% rise in abandoned animals over the previous year in England & Wales, and I'm sure the same is true here in Spain. With such a situation, I personally feel that breeding for profit is a crime and should be banned. There are so many wonderful dogs waiting for good, caring homes, and rescued pets, of all shapes & sizes, have proven over and over to be the most faithful, loving companions. I understand that kids may like the look of certain breeds, but teaching them that the way they look is not as important as their personality and character is surely a worthwhile lesson in life too?

Absolutely concur with Morerosado and Roberto.  We have the most wonderful little cross, whom we adopted from kennels here, who has been an absolute delight and the most amusing addition to our family, for the last three years nearly!   We would love a labradour or a jack russell (just adore them!!), but with so many abandoned animals, we can't think of buying one when so many others are there just looking for a home.

pknott, I'm amazed that your daughter changed her mind because 'she has found that they cannot swim'.

She was DESPERATE for a PUG !!!!!!!!!!!!! I had endless chats with her.

Maybe a tortoise is better, though they do live for a long time so she'll no doubt get tired &, I forgot, do they swim ?

Sorry but I'm rather sad.  So many dogs needing homes & just maybe there's a Beagle pug somewhere with your name on it.

Please check out the places I spent ages searching for you for.

Puggle. The best of both breeds (Google them)

I don't know how old your daughter is, and I don't want to sound patronising, but perhaps you could convince her that there's a beautiful Puggle at the local rescue centre just crying out for a home. (There's sure to be plenty that fit the description closely enough)
