The obvious question is where are you from and what passport do you hold? If from an EU country, including Ireland, you can look for work without a work permit.

If from non EU then you would need a work visa to come and they are very difficult to obtain as you need a guaranteed offer of a job and the future employer must certify that no EU citizen could be found.

If you don't require a work visa then you'd be better looking at job offering sites like glassdoor, turijobs or jobstoday or other type hiring sites.

Hi Tom — that’s a big step, but Costa Brava is a fantastic place to raise a family. In the L’Estartit area there’s consistent demand for skilled trades, especially renovations, property maintenance, and landscaping for holiday homes. First, make sure your paperwork is sorted — if you hold an EU passport you can work freely, but if not you’ll need proper authorization before starting anything. Reaching out directly to local construction firms, estate agents, and property managers can open doors faster than waiting on job boards. Many second-home owners value reliable, English-speaking tradesmen with broad skills.

For housing, start checking Idealista early since good rentals move quickly. Local town halls can guide you on public schools and registration steps. Once you’re settled, small comforts help the transition — setting up app YouCine para TV at home can make those first evenings feel familiar while everything else is new. Wishing you and your family the best with the move.
