 Hi Kerry,

We used furniture direct Torre Pacheco, near the Mar Menor Golf complex  www.thefurniturestore.eu/Contact-information

Fred and Diane are really helpful. We went for the Lift up ottoman beds and they have been great for storage too.

There is also a Spanish furniture store next door to them where we bought a lovely wall unit and we are going to go again next visit as am on the look out for a nest of tables. There is DFS N322 on way to Dos Mares which we will give a go when we get over too. Let me know if you get any other recommends as we are always looking for new places to try.

Thanks

Gina

Hi Kerry,

On N332 between San Javier and San Pedro del Pinatar, besides the DFS (http://www.dfsspain.com/) which Gina already mentioned, there are also 2 other large furniture stores:

Castor: http://www.castormuebles.com/

La Orca: http://www.laoca.es/laoca.asp

In the new shopping center La Zenia there is also a furniture store called La Conforama: http://www.conforama.es/index.php

If you like modern furniture, collection "Urban Chic" in the department store El Corte Ingles is very nice, modern and some of the price is very affortable. http://www.elcorteingles.es/tienda/hogar/

Regards,

Wendy

Smaller but local, try Mueblesmarmenor just before you get to El patio opposite. 525 plaza they delivered very quickly when we last used them.

dfsspain everytime, they are friendly and helpful. We bought everything from them in January, gave them the key to our apartment and when we came for easter, everything was in place and fitted.

I would definitely endorse DFS San Javier. Five years ago bought the most comfortable beds etc you could imagine and all our lounge and dining room furniture.

YES, every time! Dependable and quick!

Thanks everyone for info

Can I assume most items in DFS would need to be ordered rather than held in stock?

In addition, we will need to buy paint, brushes, rollers, white emulsion, gloss etc. Would it be 'brico' or is there somewhere better to purchase these type of items.

Going to try and finish a room each visit!

Brico is good. If you really want the range, try Leroy Merlin on the way into Cartagena. This is a great complex of shops -called Centro Mediteraneo. There is an even bigger one in the newish La Zenia Boulevard in Torrevieja. There is also a small paint shop as you drive south past the Town hall  through Los Alcazares beside the bodega.

DFS may stock some items but they are so helpful and worth a visit.

We got some smaller items from IKEA which is on the way into Murcia. You take the turning AFTER the university exit.

Hi, we are also in the process of purchasing in the area.  We went to DFS at the weekend and spent nearly 2.5 hours there, Paul was extremely helpful and knowledgable.  We have ordered most things from them.  They do stock a small amount of furniture but most things have to be ordered, however, should the stuff not be ready for when we go over some time next month, Paul said that they would loan us whatever wasn't ready so that we could still go over.  I can not recommend them enough and we thought the prices were extremely competative.  There was no hard sell and he made a lot of sensible suggestions which we didn't think of.  Definately give them a try.

ok thanks again everyone for your advice

The only thing we are desperate for is a sofa or two for the lounge so we have somewhere to sit for our 2 week holiday.  Do DFS stock sofa's or are they only available to order?

Looked at their website but no prices that I could see?

Yes they do have some stock if your not too fusy on what you want, they have lots of photos on the computer, if you give them a call or email them, I am sure they will send you photos of what they have with their prices.
