iM LOOKING AT COMING TO SPAIN, AND STAYING FOR ABOUT 5/6 MONTHS HOW LONG  CAN I HAVE THE CAR IN SPAIN ON UK INSURANCE ???

1. It can depend on your insurance company. Some will only allow you 3 months so check with them.
2. You can keep a UK car in Spain for up to 6 months. 1 day over and you must register it in Spain.
3. Your UK insurance will be reduced to the minimum 3rd party only unless you pay extra for increased cover.
4. You should arrange breakdown cover in Spain. This comes included with insurance in Spain.
5. Some UK companies, like Saga, offer 1 years cover but read the conditions. Whilst it covers you for 365 days, it is generally only for a limited stay during that period. Usually 30 days at a time for multiple visits,
6. If you stay for more than 3 months, you should register on the EU citizens register, still called residencia by most people.
7. The car must also be fully legal in the country of registration for the duration of your stay including MOT and excise license (road tax).
