We have been quoted 1,600 euro just to apply for a licence to cover our small outside kitchen with a tile roof, does this sound right?

Seems way over the top to me...

Who quoted this figure? Town Hall or architect?

Our local Town Hall charged us just 100€ for substantially more than that small amount of work...

fb.

that is way over the top, looks like builder is going to take a massive cut of that,we only paid 560 euros for a total reform of 74 square metres,it was a four years ago but it has not gone up that much.hes trying it on.the town hall will be able to tell you how much,it is really.if you are in coin there is an office that deals with this and they can give you a price, but its cheaper gong to the town hall your self.

We want to install a wood burning fire in our small townhouse.  Just needs the flu to come out the wall and up side of neighbours building.

Would we have to apply for a licence to do this?

Hi Susan

Yes all building work needs a licence (major or minor licence) even changing an internal door, any re-tiling bathroom, kitchen etc.

A pal of mine got fined (not the guy doing the work) for not having a licence when he employed a ‘Bob the Builder’ to re-tile his kitchen.

You can apply yourself for the work license, SuperSaver.

You do so at the Town Hall.  It is a percentage of the estimated cost for the work, materials and labour.

Up date

I enquired at my local town hall the other day about a Licencia de obra, as  a friend was intending fitting new doors on kitchen units, new worktops replacing some wall tiles, and re-painting throughout the interior of his apartment.

I had been told by a friend in the National Police that  a licence would be needed

However, when I asked I found that the town hall did not require one to get a licence.

So like so many things in Spain,  what you need  will vary from place to place.
