El Camino del Desfiladero in Ronda, now fully open, is charging a whopping 12 euros for a 20 minute walk along the Tajo under the Puente Nuevo, the symbol of the City of Dreams. The walk along a specially constructed walkway goes as far as the base of the water mines and then you have to retrace your steps back to the start.

The walk is also not available to under eights for safety reasons!
Why so expensive?
Given that the more famous Caminito del Rey at El Chorro near Ardales also costs 12 euros for a three hour walk through El Chorro gorge, the Ronda equivalent is way too expensive. Granted Ronda residents go for free, but even so, for a family of four 48 euros is a bit steep in my view and in the opinion of many others. There has been somewhat of a furore locally.

Why is the walk so short?
You may be asking why the walk doesn't include the ascent of the water mine, the construction dating back to Moorish times to haul water from the Tajo.
The reason is that the Mina de Agua belongs to a different body to that of the Camino del Desfiladero.
Can't they talk to each other and come to some agreement to include the mine in the walk?
