Has anyone experience of the psicotechnicos test here in Spain?

What exactly does one have to do?

I think you may mean the "Informe de Aptitud psicofísica", which is the basic medical test. You can get it done at any approved medical office, it costs something like €20 - €30, and usually consists of a very basic eye test and some silly reaction time tests on a computer simulator.

Yes, but what are silly reaction time tests on a computer simulator?

Like watching a dot crossing a screen then disappearing, and having to guess when you think it reaches the other side of the screen. Silly stuff, and to be honest if there's any chance of you failing, you would know already because you would have crashed your car repeatedly by now.

Easy peasy!!

As already quoted, you must judge the exit time for a vehicle, plus the other test is to keep two vehicles, each on a separate road from bashing into the kerbs. Easier than it sounds!

The eye test has no alphabet, just open ended squares. You have to indicate which is the open end. They diminish in size but quite simple.

Lastly, a blood pressure check and in 2007, I paid 15 Euro.

The renewal lasts for two years, which means mine is due again shortly!!

Oh, as I am a Jubilado, the licence is free and can now be ordered by Correo, I believe, rather than visiting the Trafico.
