It’s because the capacity is 10 kw or greater which does not get the IVA reduction. 13.856 kw is a high capacity rate usually for a heavy commercial consumer. Most domestic consumers on average are 4 kw or less which is charged at 5% IVA.

Más o menos , Kavanagh.

First time in 16 years has having a high potencia been favourable.

To say I am shocked at your cost per kw is an understatement.

Non promotional periods 0.199239 per kwh. Promotional periods (the pick your 8 hours) 0,082248 per kwh.

Am wondering why does Kavanagh have such enormous charges per kw.

Is it because his property is a holiday home.

floella, I'm shocked at your charges per kwh, 114 euros for 854 kwh is less than half what I paid.

I'd settle for Kavanagh's charges per kwh, mine are even more enormous - 0.4265 / kwh

the differences are incomprehensible especially as all 3 of us are with Iberdrola

As it was me that started this, I thought I should add my details to the thread. I am with Energia XXI (part of endesa I believe?). My 1 bed apartment started this off as follows:

P1 (punta) 52 kWh x 0,074409 Eur/kWh  3,87 €
P2 (llano) 53 kWh x 0,02847 Eur/kWh  1,51 €
P3 (valle) 112 kWh x 0,003034 Eur/kWh  0,34 €
Costes de la energía  72,25 €
Impuesto electricidad: ( 93,31 X 0,500000 % ) 0,47 €
Alquiler del contador: (32 días x 0,026563 Eur/día) 0,85 €
IVA normal: 5% s/ 94,63  4,73 €
TOTAL IMPORTE FACTURA 99,36 €

I presume this is my tariff: : PVPC - MERCADO REGULADO

Don't really understand it all, all I understand is the total amount!

Although you're with Energia/Endesa, your kwh rate is similar to mine: 0.4579

Like me you pay the misleadingly named energy cost/Costes de la energía (72,25 €) which doesn't appear on Kavanagh's or floella's bills.

I'm not at home at the moment and can't quote from the information I received about it but it appeared to be a government decision, the Real Decree reference was quoted.   It introduced a charge based on the variation in the electricity rate on the market over the period covered by the bill and of course the rate is only going in one direction.  I got the impression this charge was to appear on all customers' bills - obviously not so.  Should have investigated further at the time, my bad.

Precisely,  Markfish

We all, for whatever reason, have different potencia and the energy companies appear to base their charges on that.

The lower the potencia the more per kw. The higher the less. Could it be on the presumption the less one has the less one SHOULD use . Who knows. It's a minefield and people should look  the best rate for them, in their area and stick to it. Not suggesting those on here have done so but constantly chopping and changing may seem  financially profitable but rarely is.

In my 16 years have never used the number of kw per month as has Kavanagh. Downside of having a holiday home visitors, even family, suddenly forget someone has to pay the bill for their extravagant excesses.

Some people I know in the Arboleas, Almeria area reckon if they pay more than €70 monthly, whilst using all electrical products known to man, they are being robbed.  So perhaps relocating to a less inexpensive area might be an answer.
