As at 6 August, El Mundo describes Ceuta as “torn in three”: the city centre, which has largely returned to normal; the beach, where “hundreds of people sleep around bonfires and pray around a mosque drawn with rocks on the sand”; and the besieged city outskirts where reported violence and sexual assaults are believed to occur.

The few women and girls who arrived to Ceuta with the migrant wave have suffered abuse, sexual and otherwise, the newspaper reported. To protect them, authorities have outfitted a makeshift soccer field for 150 of them seeking “to protect themselves from sexist and sexual violence.”

The newspaper also detailed instances of public violence in which locals have had to stop mobs of men from raping girls in the street. “I ran out of the house and started to yell at those sons of whores,” a woman identified as “neighbourhood grandmother” Rajaa told El Mundo. “There were five adult men, between 30 and 35 years old, known in the neighbourhood” trying to rape a girl.

So no, it wasn’t a brief invasion and isn’t over.

Pedro Sánchez along with the exmayor of Manchester say that only 2% of the invaders are left. The 2% sound better than thousands of men running loose in Ceuta. Apparently there are also many unaccompanied children in the 2%. A disaster for the locals that the Spanish government has no idea how to clear up. The simple solution of rounding up the invaders and taking back across the border is not working. The horrendous death toll must lead to a plan to stop something similar happening again. The weak willed politicians know the only way to stop the invaders goes against their extreme socialist believes.

There’s nothing like a story about immigrants or asylum seekers to attract ignorant comments and replies. I’ll stick to what I know (UK examples) to try and give a little balance to it all. I worked with asylum seekers for many years in the UK. I met many and got to know quite a few personally. The rhetoric from the mainstream media is at best misleading, but usually downright lies. All of this to create deflection. Have a look at the main stories the media push and how many people regurgitate them on social media and phone ins. Rarely if ever do they get challenged which leaves them to fester and grow. We’re talking about human beings here, but that seems to be a side issue to most people. There are nearly 120 million displaced people worldwide and about 9 million awaiting decision, which puts UK numbers in perspective. The vast majority of asylum seekers flee to the next country. They haven’t the resources to go any further. So it leaves the ones who do have such resources. They will be well off, sometimes with connections and in decent jobs, sometimes the media and government. I usually ask people if they were in a similar position and needed to flee, how would they do it? Would you send your wife and children, or would you take on the dangerous journey, go yourself and then hope that you can somehow get your family over to you. The second option is the one they usually go for. What man would send their wives and children on such a treacherous journey? Yet “it’s mainly men” is the cry. Who would you send? They usually have to trade their identity documents to the traffickers as part of the deal, it’s not straightforward. I’ve met journalists, police inspectors, doctors, tv news readers, business people. All of them, had to flee due to being on the wrong side of a regime in their own country. Most just want safety, and most just want to go back to their own country. Many say they shouldn’t stay in the UK as it’s not the first country they stopped at. If that was the case, the UK would never take any due to it being an island. We did have the Dublin convention which meant people who had previously claimed in another country could be returned. Not any more since the Brexit own goal. Hence the ‘Farage boats’ name. They are not illegal, but calling them illegal is often all you hear, and rarely challenged. They are only illegal if they don't claim asylum, or their application has failed. Over 70% of applications are approved anyway, but it’s worth noting that those that have failed are turfed out onto the streets destitute with no support and no way of getting anywhere. It’s complex and not a simple fix. It’s also worth noting that since 2010 when the last conservative government came to power, waiting lists on asylum seekers have increased significantly. In my opinion, and that shared by many others, is because it was a deliberate act to create a problem, the problem we have now. So we can blame them. Interesting that there’s not the same outcry about Ukrainians. They have a legal route that is unavailable to other asylum seekers. Legal routes and quick decision making would help and cut costs. Just a thought to end with, if there were no boats coming across, how would your own life improve? It’s all deflection.

All signs point to Marco Rubio’s involvement in the Ceuta migrant situation this past week, which looks like it was a stunt engineered by the USA's own State Department. Read this, from the excellent Noel Casler, who worked under Trump some years ago and so mistrusts him and his family more than many!

“Trump’s children were raised in an environment of perpetual criminality which is why they are serving so steadily as the legs to his banquet table of graft right now. Don Jr., Eric and Ivanka, (and even Barron with his Polymarket bets and upstairs-in- the-White-House insider trading), are helping themselves to a feast which may, in the end, send much of the world into a famine. Trump essentially hijacked the armoured car and his kids are unloading it. That corrupt methodology has now seemingly been adopted by our State Department under the greasy guidance of Marco Rubio, a man who seems hellbent on becoming the dictator on deck. A scary proposition because a more disciplined man with the same immoral attributes as POTUS could do remarkable damage in the world, perhaps even extending out from the calamity Trump has already caused.

All signs point to Rubio’s involvement in the Ceuta migrant situation this past week, which looks like it was a stunt engineered by our own State Department.

In April, under Rubio’s direction, the U.S. sent 20 million dollars to Morocco specifically earmarked for ‘diplomatic engagement’ between Morocco and Spain concerning the ‘future status’ of Ceuta (an autonomous Spanish city on the northern coast of Africa). This week’s stunt was engineered with the seeming complicity of the Moroccan government as a sort of payback to Spain for not opening their airspace to the U.S. military during Trump’s illegal war with Iran. Most of the shirtless (another tell) young men who were victims of online disinformation campaigns (falsely stating European immigration policy had suddenly changed, creating a “pull factor” for the mass migration event) returned immediately to Morocco. Participants said they had been driven to the maritime and land border (that Moroccan security forces themselves control) in trucks and buses, and then pointed towards Ceuta. Where cameras just happened to waiting, to document their arrival.

Nothing about the situation looked spontaneous; it was political theatre, and most likely an act of retribution against Spain for standing up to the United States, and an opportunity to reinforce Trump’s immigrant rhetoric - which he immediately seized upon and said it should be used as an issue to benefit the GOP in the midterms. A tailor made distraction from the calamity caused by both the United States and Israel in the disastrous war in Iran. Ceuta provided the sort of ‘migrant invader’ social media agitprop content that is so popular with POTUS and MAGA influencers. It feeds the fears of the psychologically stunted men and women to whom the ‘America First’ movement has become a balm. Too burdened by their own xenophobic dysfunction to understand they are being preyed upon by billionaires who are stoking a sociological disease to strip them of their rights and their economic futures.”
