Have you ever locked yourself out of your house and couldn't get in? Exactly that happened to me the other day.
Carelessly I left a key in the lock on the inside of the front door and slammed the door shut and went off for a coffee.
When I came back my other key would not engage fully and I couldn't open the door.
What to do?
Option 1 - use a ladder to climb in through the bedroom window, which was open.
drawback - my ladders were inside the house.
Option 2 - saw through the downstairs reja and climb in.
drawback - I'd have to get the reja re-welded, a costly option.
Option 3 - call a locksmith to drill out the lock.
drawback - a costly option.
Option 4 - call my house insurance company.
Option 4 - consult the glazier who made the door and fitted it.
Jose Manuel came straightaway and using his magic touch, some vaseline, a sheet of plastic and a hammer and - open, Sesame! - we were in. It took all of five minutes.
How much? No charge!
Conclusion
So, all was well that ended well!
I'll be more careful in the future .....
