or you could read those statistics as many more people are buying with cash than mortgages,in my last 10 sales,not one has required a mortgage!
Its a double edged sword for me,if my sales are increasing and trend is going down, it should be even better for me when things turn around completely.

Yeah, many agents I speak to all say that the majority of their buyers are cash buyers at the moment, so it's not such a big surprise that mortgages are down.
The banks are making it quite difficult to get mortgages anyway (unless it's for their own stuff) so really people do need to just have the money to buy something.
