Bats

We have bats in our roof space. They are small bird size. Are they protected? How do I get rid of them?

Firstly find out where they are getting in. Then hang two layers of plastic sheet to about 1 metre below the opening. The bats will be able to get out but won't be able to get back in. Best to do it at the end of the season (they always leave and come back next year) otherwise there will be dead young up there. 

Ok before anyone attacks me for animal cruelty please let me stress I have little experience of bats and I am merely relating the actions of a friend. He had bats in his loft in the UK and simply switched an electric light on up there. As bats do not like light they were all soon gone. Job done.
