Has anyone done it yet? What is the limit?

Thanks in advance!

Peter

You do not have to pay any tax or duty in the UK on goods you have bought tax paid in other EU countries which are for your own use, and which have been transported by you.

800 per person is the limit I think.

Thanks for the reply!

I actually bought it from a guy who brings it from Gibraltar below the Spanish prices, do you think still 800 is allowed?

Thanks a lot.

Have a look on this older thread, I think I've got it wrong about the 800

Think the answer to this is probably down to whether the individual packs have Spanish Duty stamps affixed across the 'hinge' on the lid of the pack. If they do then the answer woulld appear to be as per the link from Team GB.

If the packs do not have a Spanish Duty stamp then they will be considered as 'Duty Free Goods' and hence subject to the 200 per person limit.

Cigarettes from Gibraltar are classed as duty free and the allowance is therefore 200 per person.

Cigarettes from Spain are classed as duty paid and there is no restriction although 3200 cigarettes per person is deemed ample for personal use.  If you bring back more, you may have to prove that they are for yourself or as a personal gift where no money, including compensation for fuel, is received.

Evidently its been changed again. They now say800 per person is okay, anymore although legal upto 3200 you will be taken away for questioning and forced to prove they are for own consumption.Dont know how they do it maybe you have to have a lung test,or get a solicitor to swear some sort of oath. Its on the Customs and Excise website.

If the packs originated from Spain they will have Spanish labeling so will be treated as duty paid, if they came from Gibraltar the packs will have English labeling and be treated as duty free, then you will only be allowed 1 carton.
