Actually a helmet is probably the last thing you need worry about, since that's one law that's most definitley not enforced very much. Still best to wear one though.
The rules for using a bike brought from another country will be the same as for cars i.e. if you plan to keep it in Spain and use it here permanently, you will have to re-register it, tax, MoT (ITV) and insure it here. have a read through all the discussions about the pros & cons that have gone on before - this thread & some others I think.
