Talk Radio Europe have just confirmed
It has just been confirmed by Jose Luis Hernandez that the tunnel in San Pedro will be opened by the Minister for public works Ana Pastor, on Tuesday 26th June at 5:15 pm

Wow, that's been a long time coming and fortunately it's opening in time for the summer chaos.
Last year it was a nightmare in the summer bypassing the roadworks.
Finally some good news!!

Typical - just been to Gib and came back along the old road (couldn't face paying €14 twice on the toll road, which actually hardly cuts any time off the journey, even accounting for San Pedro). We haven't been that way for at least a couple of years, and probably won't again for another couple. If only I'd known, we could've waited until next week!

It has certainly been a long time coming - the road works started in, if memory serves right- 2005 !!!!
Went through two days ago and the tunnel etc all look tantilisingly ready. Just waiting for the ribbon and the scissors

I find those blue lights on the walls rather distracting - first noticed them in the new tunnels on the new Malaga bypass near Torremolinos recently. I must have driven through tunnels thousands of times in several different countires - never seen anything quite as distracting. Also the overhead speed signs were virtually unreadable. Anybody else noticed this, or is it just me?

Just got back from a trip along the A7 .... and used the new, all singing, all dancing, San Pedro Tunnel.
Lovely ........... and no traffic queues anywhere ....... amazing
