Hi All,

This morning received a cold call from a lady called Maureen working for a law firm known as Global Property Forum ltd.  Website found -cannot include web address as i have not made more than 10 posts. But maybe this might work www gpfltd co uk

What they say they do is gather large groups of people from the same development and seek to to recover our monies back using a team of international lawyers.

They informed me they were in the midst of compiling about 100 clients currently they have 85 for ACC.  The costs would be a maximum of ^1200Euros, 200 of which would be to read each individuals contract the rest for the entire case.  Reason for it being so low as they will be fighting for a group.

I did ask where they received my details from and had been informed could have been from a number of groups; lawyers, developers, agents etc.  I am thinking maybe agents and i am wondering could it be Parador setting up a new business.

I have given snippetts of information and have arranged a telephone apppointment for this Wednesday.

Any one with more information on this firm please let me know.  Their website a bit vague and no contact details like address.  I googled and could not find them.

I shall keep you informed of Wednesdays outcome.

All the Best,

Mohay

I am not saying that this is a scam however there has been a pattern of a number of organisations, well documented on this forum, who have started up operations like this, taken deposits from people and then folding the company and I would draw you attention to the following information, see indormation on European Mediation

First of all there is no UK regitered company named Global Property Forum Ltd, easy lookup at companies house website,  and a limited  company y in  Spain is an SL plus for a company  that claims to be registered with the legal people there is no address, phone number or registration details on the website, ony contcat via an enquirey form

The domain name registration details are as follow for an address for a small town in The Costa Blanca under the name of Sean Humphries and was only registered in November 2008

Domain name:
        gpfltd.co.uk

    Registrant:
        sean humphreys

    Registrant's address:
calle alicante 3, san miguel de salinas
        alicante
        03193
        Spain

    Relevant dates:
        Registered on: 26-Nov-2008
        Renewal date:  26-Nov-2010

Altiough the site was only registered in November 2008 the catual website claims copy Content copyright 2002.copyrightdate 2005.Global Property Forum. All rights reserved. All participants in this site are regulated by the Legal bodies in all countries

A similar promises money back guarntee was made by another company, European Mediation, which was fine until people tried to get their money back as they turned out to be a boiler room company with a telesales operation and no lawyers canvassing an agents list

The fact is that even if you join together in  class action against a developer in Spain there will not be a dramatic decrease in costs and they should expevct to pay between €5k-€6k for an action

Personally I would not pay anybody unless they were a lawyer, with proven legal professional idemnity insurance and a track record in these type of actions, people like Maria who writes on this forum

I was contacted on 18th and like you guys very sceptical with the caller and she eventually put me on to a Nicholas Saunders, her boss.  The idea seems good but like the rest of you I am worried about throwing good money after bad.  Has anyone actually received the email yet?  I haven't and they are going to ring me back tomorrow night to find out my reply.  They informed me that around 80 have already signed up to this, if possible it would be good if all those 80 could post to this forum just to see if the company are speaking the truth.

Regards

Mave

I am still waiting for the famous email too.

Mavep were you with Parador initially? How else could they get our actual name & home phone numbers?

I think we will find no one has actually signed with them - Parador do like the scams!! Selling overseas property scams don't work anymore - legal problems with Parador sales might be the next lucrative scam!!!!

Too  coincidental.

John

What often happens is a ex employee will take a client list with them when they leave and even possibly sell it on which again is very common

Hi All,

Received no e-mail regarding information about company and procedure.  Received no call Wednesday morning.  Well i truly believe it is a scam, because if they were a genuine business they would not lose prospective clients by not contacting any of them.

Hopefully everyone is aware of these types of scamsters and hope they never succeed in even getting one persons hard earned money.  After all we are going through and they have the nerve, infuriating.

I am going ahead with Maria from Cost de la Luz lawyers, i shall be sending her the initial deposit asap.  I posted another thread regarding Aldea holding onto clients' monies received via bank guarantees, as they have mine since January 2009.  Another law suit one against Huma and one against their sibling Aldea. Hand In Glove!!

All the best,

Mohay

I have spoken to a manager at Parador Spain in Torrevieja who confirms that Sean Humphreys was the sales manager with Parador Properties before the company went into administration last year.

Parador Spain say that they set up to provide some continuity of assistance to Parador's buyers after Parador Properties appointed the administrator and reached an agreement with the administrator to have exclusive access to the Parador Properties Spanish database. They and the administrator are therefore not happy that others appear to be using information to which they are not entitled, sometimes also apparently purporting to be representatives of Parador.

As the inspectahome post suggests, it does seem that the client contact information was copied from the Parador Properties’ database when Mr Humphreys left the company following the administration, and that he and others are using that information to call Parador’s clients.

Phew, I'm so glad I belong to this site. I've been getting calls off these people for the last few days, but they only managed to catch me in on Tuesday. After a chat in which they seemed to know all about Almanzora and Aldea, they said they'd send an e-mail and phone at 1pm today(Thursday) for my answer.

I too asked where they'd got my details, and she said it would either be the developer, the solicitor or one other person(who I can't remember). When I informed her that neither the solicitor(who would therefore lose me as a client), nor the developer(why would someone give your details to someone so you could sue them?) would've given her my details she changed her track and then  asked for my e-mail address. Still no e-mail or phone call!!

I have received a call last night, after my posting, from Mr Humphries, who was not happy because I had published his personal information which I got from the WHOIS public database and was advised that I should not have done this

I had to explain that because I am not a lawyer, because I don´t sell property and because I only make my income once people complete that my only motivation is to avoid people getting caught out especially because of the very similar approach made by another company European Mediation

I also explained that people can nly make a decision on this based on the actual information presented from the website and calls and that most lawyers would give a view on a contract, and the likelyhood of winning a legal case, free of charge

He explained to me that they were a marketing company that had been asked to represent 18 different lawyers in Spain, offering services to assist  clients in recovering monies paid to crooked developers

He explained that they were not a Ltd company and the name was a marketing name for the internet as they were an outbound marketing company working for the lawyers form information that they had provided him with.

I agreed with his sentiments that yes there is a requirement to have good independant legal advice and assistance but that his website, based on the facts he had given me, didn´t really explain who they were and how they worked or even included any UK contact details numbers etc and perhaps he would benefit by publishing the names of the website plus much more information

Now agian I am not saying that this is a scam and I have been offered a meeting when Sean is in Spain to  get a better understanding of the offering and process which, as it is local to my office, I am happy to attend and, if I find this to be kosher, I would be more that happy to advise people

As I mentioned previously I would want a lits of the names of the 16 law firms on the panel and be making a payment directly to a lawyer, not a marketing company in Spain, using a post box address in a Post Office Apartado De Correos 235

You have to pay €200 to find out if you can join the group plus, if they already have so many clients on one dvelopement they must already know most of the contents of the contract

Does this €200 include IVA which has to be charged on all transations to a registered spanish business

I would also ask, how long that have been trading, the company registered  trading name and location and to see an example of a report, if I am going to find it invaluable,  plus be able to speak to some satisfied clients

Hello All,

I too received a similar e-mail today albeit a few days late, still no call.

I am going to stick to my original instinct, stay with Maria.  We have already made too many mistakes i am not going to send more of my money to another lot of backstabbing thieves.

Personally i would not even entertain this company.  If they do call i might just go out F''ing  and Blinding.

Quite frankly i want my money back and will be damned they keep it.

Enough is enough.

All the Best,

Mohay

Hi there this is my first posting and I have to say I am impressed by the site as a resource.  We are currently being inundated with calls every couple of days from Nick Saunders of Global Property Forum pressuring us into joining their scheme.  He continues to avoid my requests to tell me where he got our contact details from, brushing me off with suggestions that they have a number of organisations scouting for them and that it was probably likely to be the company we hired a car from when we were last in Spain(interesting that we have never actually hired a car in Spain!).

He avoids requests for information about who is on the panel of solicitors and requests for a contact address or details.  All the time insisting that they are registered with the Data Protection Act.  He assures me that they are just acting as brokers for the group of solicitors, identifying potential clients and making the initial contact.

I have heard nothing to convince me that this is legit and can't help but feel it has something to do with ex-Parador people trying to cash in on the mess they got us into.  Nick Saunders swears blind that he has never heard of Parador (I would love to catch him out if he is....).

Has anyone managed to find out anything concrete about this organisation?

Even though I am not a buyer on the development I did comment on this and the gentleman who runs the operation,. the ex sales manager at Parador, promised to contact me to have a local meeting so that I could see how legitimate the company were,, just after he threatened me with a letter form their lawyers

I heard nothing at all on either of these and that was a couple of months ago and my comments still stand
