I don't disagree with you. Howvere, you cannot make a ssytem change just becasue one or two don't like it there are other points of view and they have their reasoning
The only people really shouting about division and failures are the brits
I make no apoloigy about johnny foregner comment as we it has clearly been the major issue for brexit and has clearly proven to me the horrible prejudcial attitude of many brits

It's not a problem with Johnny foreigner as you horribly put it Tadd ( more inciteful rhetoric), it's a problem with the SYSTEM that has created division by failure to comprehend the impact from EU policies.
To repeat, all attempts to reform over many years have been derided by the EU bureaucrats.

Fair comment but what if EU member states do not want the freedom of movement reformed or changed. Just because the UK have a problem with johnny foreigner it does not mean everyone else has the same problem and why shoudl eu change just because teh UK want it
If the UK want to reform the EU and its policies then they should not be leaving

Brexit is now about achieving mutually beneficial trading outcomes, but that will require reform of freedom of movement, hence the debate and intense focus/analysis on this subject.
Ironically the reforms if analysed fairly and from a far wider perspective could well improve citizen's lives in terms of addressing the negative implications on lowering of wages and imbalanced pull factors for the remaining member states whilst also creating potential to retain labour forces and enhance nationals' opportunities from within their own member states.
Win, win.....

But that is not what Brexit is about. The U.K. Has no mandate to reform the EU whether other member states want it or not.

ads.genuine attempts to gain reform of a system and policy decisions that are sadly proliferating division and impacting cohesion within its member states.
The 'divisions' as you call them are entirely of British manufacture created and whipped up by right wing media and right wing politicians on the make. Exploiting immigrants to achieve Brexit was disgraceful. I agree sadly it was successful judging by some depressing attitudes I read on hear.
I hear little immigrant bashing in Europe accept a few loony tunes such as Gert Wilders & Co. The majority of the peoples of Europe and their elected politicians have shown solidarity and compassion toward refugees and immigrants. It's a section of the British population who have a problem with it.
I am an immigrant in Europe of long standing and never feel isolated or treated differently by any institution or people or any nationality I come into contact with.

Brexit has come about as a consequence of failure to reform, a failure to listen to growing citizen concerns, a desire to regain control away from intransigent bureaucrats intent on a federal state system whose freedom of movement policies without due regard to issues debated at length on this thread, have directly negatively impacted their lives... and when attempts were made to address these genuine issues, they were met with little short of contempt and bullying.
To requote the Netherlands minister "It would however be a mistake, a serious political mistake, if we don't use the Brexit momentum to look at what is wrong with the current European Union. We need it to change.

Brexit is not a genuine attempt to reform the system. It is a call to exit. Nothing more. Nothing less

What one perceives as " immigrant bashing " appears to others as a disgraceful alienating and inciteful generalisation, far removed from the reality of genuine attempts to gain reform of a system and policy decisions that are sadly proliferating division and impacting cohesion within its member states.
Wake up call and denial springs to mind here....

Good post. But what do you do about all the people in power who don't give Jack. They seem to think citizens are just an inconvenience and something under their shoe.

Interesting how some of you seem to see Brexit as the panacea for all your woes and a golden path to a resurrection of the U.K. to its past glory days yet seven months on there is no plan, no time frames and confusion in the government as to what should be done.
There is just too much immigrant bashing in the Brexit Camp to make anything they spout credible.
The Brexit lies just keep on coming EU citizens don't loose their passports or I D cards. EU OAP's are not over running our care homes or the NHS. EU workers in the UK are not lowering our wages or our standard of living
Brexit is not going to have any positive effects on illegal migration or refugees or health tourism.
If as and when Brexit finally comes the people who voted for it, based on the comments of Brexiters on here, are going to be sadly disappointed.
If any of you Brexiters can genuinely show the rest of us how leaving the EU is going to fix anything that you say is the problem based on the last ten comments you have made on here then please say so or climb back under your rocks.

Perrypower,
Here sadly lies the hypocrisy, the "decency compassion and fair play" you speak of has been lost by failing policies and decency to listen to citizens concerns, failure to adequately take account of all the wide differentials between member states from the outset, inability to adhere to stability mechanisms or devise timely "fair" corrective reform mechanisms, with bureaucrats out of touch with the citizens they are supposed to represent and protect, obsessed with a fixed rationale to create a federal state without due regard to the need for fair and realistic transitional controls for even those who aspire to such a venture, let alone those who prefer to retain control of their own destiny but live in trading harmony with their neighbours....
One of the eye openers since the debate and analysis re Brexit began is the failure to make the powerful intransigent bureaucrats in the European Commission accountable for their failures that have led to Brexit and the growing underlying discontent and division amongst its EU citizens.
David Cameron in the UK chose to stand down ( some would suggest the UK citizens presented him with little option), I would ask the question, are you ever likely to see such timely accountability from those in the EU Commission?
The European Union ( in particular the Commission) has become an intransigent anathema out of touch, in denial of its major failings, and unaccountable to its citizens.
It's time they too were made accountable, hopefully before it's too late, because if they continue with their intransigent stance,, refusing to reform and face the realities associated with such a wide and diverse mixture of member states, each at such widely different stages in their economic development and benefit structures ( in the UK the benefit structure was ironically intended to take account of fair play and compassion, to incentivise through such structures as inwork benefits, housing benefits, tax credits to act as fair transitional controls until such time as citizens became more self sufficient with job security etc.....All of which has now been compromised by many factors out of Govt control, not least the proliferation of EU claimants for whom the transitional incentives were never intended), then the current negative impact on cohesion, tolerance, compassion and fair play that you made reference to, will only grow.
Divide and rule amongst its citizens appears the order of the day from intransigent bureaucrats whom we should all be making far more accountable when reviewing the wider perspective.

Good post Woodbug.
It's quite amazing that so many Brits think the UK is the elite race and then stand for every 3 card trick all the time. A lot of foreigners believe we are an arrogant laughing stock.

Odd how all these "Asylum Seekers" or whatever it is PC to call them, all manage to loose their passports and ID cards, but not their expensive mobile phones.

Oh come on now, let's be realistic. If the UK clamped down on benefits they would not know what to do with the savings. Explain why no one will do anything about health tourism which cost the UK a fortune. Heathrow now has fast track entry desk for Nigerian health tourist with free shuttle bus to all local NHS hospitals.
