We've just returned from a visit to check out progress on our Medina Golf appartment . We were met by Sharon, who we met back in Feb 07, and she introduced us to
J. Gaspar Lino who is the MD of Peninsula. He took us on an "Access All Areas" guided tour of the entire site and we were gob-smacked by how far things have come along since our last visit. The school for example is virtually finished and is booked up to start term next month with over 300 pupils!
Medina Elvira is going to be a stunning development. We were showed around the new clubhouse and also the show flat in Medina 23 which gives an idea of the fantastic quality of the finished product. We then took a tour round all 18 holes in buggies and course looks great. It's open and despite the temperature being 38C, the greens looked fast and the fairways lush.
OK so the building work is a little behind but is that such a problem? You don't pay a penny more 'til it's complete and there were hundreds of people hard at it so there's absolutely no worry about lack of progress!
We stopped overnight in Granada and if you haven't spent much time there yet you're in for a treat. Peninsula sorted out accommodation at the Melia Hotel at a special rate which worked out at around £60 for a double. 15 minutes door to door from Medina to hotel, It's smack bang in the centre and has valet parking which made life simpler. The food and wine in Granada is seriously good and seriously cheap with 2-course meals for 9 Euros. The bars still give tapas with each round and there are peaceful shady squares dotted around among the excellent shops.
All in all we came back to the UK really excited by this investment. We've bought property in the UK too and I'm far more confident about Medina than Thirsk. Still haven't decided whether to go 5% guaranteed, variable or on our own, but we are hedging towards variable because we don't want to miss out on using the appartment ourselves.
