Hi we are also looking at mortgages like your self. We sent off a request for information from Marbella Mortgages of which I believe smiley is associated and todate they.have not even aknowledged our request. Not the best recommendation. On the other hand Sharon from the Mortgage Service Group responded instantly. Just though I would share as both appear frequently on these forums.

Hi Pauline we respond to every enquiry that comes through - I can only assume it is in cyberspace somewhere - how was it sent - via e mail and when? i think you will also find that there are quite a number of people on the site who would agree that we are very thorough, prompt and do what we say we will do. I can only apologise if you have not had a response from us but I would be interested to know how you made your enquiry as anything that comes through is supposed to pass by me before anything else happens - hence I am sure that we have not received the enquiry. I am aware that in these days of modern technology we take a lot for granted and assume that everything works but if the system is falling down I would like to know why so that it can be rectified.

For what it's worth, I had some dealings with Smiley several months ago when I was doing some "up-front" planning for a potential mortgage for our appartment in Cadiz which is due to complete early 2009. He was extremely professional, took lots of time to explain things and answer all my questions and provided a very comprehensive range of mortgage options for us to look at.
In addition, he wasn't pushy in any way. He spent the time talking to me, gave me the info and then has left it to me to contact him when we want to progress further.
I will have no doubts whatsoever in utilising his services when we get closer to completion and need to arrange the mortgage.

Have now made contact with smiley and all is well. What happened to my original e-mail continues to remain a mystery, galactic interference, aliens, what ever. Having read the glowing words from JJ I will have no hesitation in contacting Smiley to guide me through the mortgage mine field.
