Short-term rental contract help

Hi,
I've signed a short-term contract for the duration of 5 months; however, since I'm leaving on like 5/5 I thought how about staying those 5 days at a friend's place instead of paying a full month's rent. I signed from january to may. What are the steps here, legally speaking too.

I would have thought that if your contract is for 5 months, legally that is what you are obliged to pay, not 4 months and 1 week. How would you feel if the person owning the place kicked you out before your 5 months was up?

I would need to see the wording of your contract but you have possibly signed for 5 months and therefore need to pay rent five times, despite the contract end of the 5th day of the month
