Resident to buy a new car

Can someone tell me if you have to be a resident to buy a new car will an N.I.E. number be sufficient

No you do not need to be resident. We bought new last year and gave the dealer copies of NIE, Passport and utility bills. No hassle whatsoever.

Which dealer did you use? we have heard all sorts of different things!!

See my other post. Had really good experience with them. This year they did first service. Booked via email and took a couple of hours.
