Hi.

I was on the understanding that the main satellite used for the free English channels had been moved of course slightly so a re-tune has to be done.

Do a google search this will explain everything.

I got a chap in to re-tune /  re-set ours twice in two years and on both times the picture got better...seems hard to believe but it was, didn't break up in bad rain or weather either, where as it did before to the point that you couldn't watch it.

Three of the satellites that provide UK TV are schedule to be replaced over the next few years. The first one, Astra 2F, had a few chanenls moved to it in December 2012 - some ITV1 regions, five, five*, five usa, C4HD, 4seven. This new satellites "beam" is a bit more focused on the UK than the previous "beam" so reception in some areas has been affected. It may mean you simply have to have a larger dish than you currently have. If by  "retune" you mean relaignment - may help, but the issue will be with dish size. IF by "retune" you mean a scan on your receiver - this will not help.

I already had a large dish and one Sept we lost a quite a few programs so the chap came, rigged up his sat finder box, adjusted the dish, i watched him do this, and i had marked the dish anyway with arrows so the original fixing wasn't out of line, and got a much better picture as i said, no breakup like before, marked the new settings,  50€ and he came from a fair distance away.
