Hi, I plan to go back to the UK in January after 17 years in Spain. I will be living at my father´s address .. how do i register on the electoral roll, as I know i have to do this to get a mobile phone contract etc., Also, will there be any problem with this as i have lived in Spain for so long?

Thanks,

Jane

I lived in the UK for than 30 years had Bank Accounts, Credit Card Accounts, Sky, Mobile phone contracts all the usual items but was never on Electoral Roll.

No one ever asked - and it was never my fault.

Have since left to return home via a year in Dubai.

Credit reference agencies use this information and is a big factor in the credit score they give out

Yes, I think things have changed. A friend of mine who lived in Spain for ten years recently returned to UK and could not get a mobile phone contract without being on electoral roll

Must have changed recently as I took out a Mobile Phone contract through Carphone Warehouse in Oxford using O2 as the carrier in July 2011 and only had to have a UK Bank and Utility bills for proof of address.
