Hi Fibbyuk and Jeansis
Sorry for treading on wrong thread.

Maná are from Mexico and are huge in the latin world and I am sure you would have heard them in Spain as they are played all the time and are a blend of latin and rock and have a reggae feel at times, a little like the Police at times . If you have Santana’s Supernatural CD they wrote and play on the track Corazon Espinado. Unlike Shakira they only sing in Spanish although I think they did start out in the 80’s singing in English but all their CD’s are sung in Spanish. Sueños Líquídos is a good CD to get for a good introduction into them and you will soon be dancing on the tables drinking the old vino tinto.
I do like Shakira also and have all her albums and DVD's and prefer her when she sings in Spanish but I am still stuck in sunny England at the mo so wont be able to get to the show but at least those lucky enough to see her in Spain will get the latin Shakira show.

Hi Chipmonk,

Thank for the info. I actually love that type of music you describe, especially when in Spain.

If I hear it here in the dreary UK, I get withdrawal symptoms!

I will have a look on Limewire for the album you suggest, thanks!

Kind regards,

Hi Jeansis

Will definately keep clear from the agents and  from what I have read so far it is the best option ha ha.

Thanks for you tube vids  Haven't seen the first Mana vid and that was brill and off their new cd. Shakira looks good as ever even with three days growth and a beer belly.

Check out a singer called Niña Pastori a neuvo flamenco singer who on this vid is singing a Maná song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jL8AircBLjU

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbOWcuH81Lg   This song is by Jose el Frances from the album Alma (Soul) he is joined by Niña Pastori  and a great flamenco guitarist called Vicente Amigo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SWUkjvvaDc This is a Spanish singer called Alex Ubago who is pretty good and writes his own songs and puts a fair bit of passion into it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLf_j4FU8QE  Here is a singer who is not Spanish but Italian but does record his albums in Italian and Spanish. Eros Ramazzotti is great singer and sadly not really known in the UK.

Hope you enjoy them

Vino y música para siempre

Maná are excellent, I really like their stuff.  They have a single in the charts at the moment which is really good but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called.

Anyone familiar with Danza Invisible? They're World famous - in Torremolinos. Even got a street named after them here. (Think one of their dad's the Mayor or something) If you want to hear them live, come round my place - they practice all the time in a hall across the road. IMHO, they need a damned site more practice. Can't stand them, but at least they drown out the mopeds.

Love Shakira. Sorry for digressing, Janice. Please don't tell me off.

Danza Invisible play, among other things, a particularly excrutiatingly bad redition of Bryan Ferry's "Love is the Drug", which they definitely need to practice more, or better still just give up on. Even my cat leaves home when they do that one, and he doesn't exactly sing like an angel himself.

Hi Roberto

Have checked out Danza Invisible on 'You Tube' Must admit not my thing, I gather they have been playing along time so their music spectrum covers a lot of different styles as the years have gone on??. They seem very stuck in the 80's though!! and the vocals do seem weak.

Roberto, Linda and everyone.

To keep the Spanish music forum going I thought it would be a good idea to start a new post under:-

'Spanish Music Good, Bad or Indifferent'. There's more to it than'Viva España'
