House / home swop! Is it a good idea? Will it work?

Hola every one, what do you think ? House swop ! Can it be done ? Is it possible? Is it legal ?
I would really appreiciate your comments on this matter before I put my property on the mareket to swop.
Maybe we could do some thing like it on this site.
In these time of "CRISIS" or "RECESSION" it may be the answer to move on. Many many people are stuck with properties they cannot sell waiting to move back to UK. So is this a solution?

We are noricing a few people in Tenerife are doing this,also another option is the rent to buy scheme,where the rent is deducted of the purchase price.

My neighbours have just done a house swap. I know the agent and solicitor involved, both are very trust worthy so it does appear that swap is quite legal. Indeed the agent is now pushing house swaps as selling is slow
Both parties involved are English which has made the move easier, the newbies here have been made very welcome.

Thanks Mr Kevin, So its legal, brillient. Im not going back to UK as I love it here but will be happy to swop one of my properties here for a UK house but prefrably a large villa over here.
I think its hard to get this organised, as I search the web the only site are house or home swop for holidays.
I will keep searching and advertise my property somewhere. Its on ebay at the moment.

Yes, house swap is legal. The legal term in spanish is "permuta".
