Hi everyone,

Well, here we are Costa Blanca, Torreveija area, arrived Thursday  night.

Picked up a lovely hire car, brand new red Fiesta Trend..............................

Well it was nice...............and it was red..................

It is now a sqidgy coloured submarine!

The heavens opened yesterday afternoon with a spectacular thunderstorm.

Roads were swimming with water bringing with it all manner of rubbish.

People stared out through misted up windows in wonderment.

It lasted an hour, but the flood water lasted much longer.

In our apartments, the underground car park is under 18 inches of water and the lift isn't working (good excercise for me after my hip replacement.....we live on the top floor!)

The surrounding roads were turned into swirling rivers which after subsiding today, has left treacherously slippery mud 2" deep!

Anyway, though I would show you how it was yesterday...................today of course, is 29 degs and full sun!

I love Spain!!!!

And people seem to think it doesnt rain here - pray tell why you can grow all manner of lovely fruit and vegetables and trees grow and grass etc - Rain in Spain is a bit like snow in the UK - doesnt happen that bad that often so why bother with sufficient drains - hence we all get these flash floods once in a while - heavens opened here on Thursday and despite sunshine on Friday and so far today the terrace is still a foot under water as it just hasnt drained away - but it will eventually - as we are on the ground floor we are draining everone elses water too so its simply a matter of time.

have a great holiday Fibs - wont be wet all the time - dont burn your bum

xx

Smiley, if I could get down the stairs, to get to the beach, to burn my bum, I would!

Seriously though, just went out in the car, the footwells are sodden, made driving a little slippery!

The car had all these pretty white snails all over it, gawd knows where they came from...the sky???

Anyway, got home climbed the mountain of stairs to our pad and am now looking at those cold beers in the fridge!

They will go down well with the succulent pork chop I just bought.

One thing I will forever praise Spanish butchers for, is their delicious meat.

I am sure the pigs are not factory farmed, the taste of pork here is so different.

So, off to that inviting sunny terrace with a cold beer, or should I have wine?

Oh blow it, I'll take a beer or two, plus the wine bottle to follow!

Cheers!

Hi Fibbs, nice car!

I think you have pointed out one of the advantages of living in apartment....floods don'k wreck your pad.

Enjoy your hols and hopefully there won't be any more rains to get in the way of your al fresco "wine tasting".

Justin

Hi Fibby

I notice that your photo didn't have my apartment in the shot, is that because it's now washed away ???????

And I thought I was going to complete on it in 3 weeks time

Scrufty?

How does one say this................................?

Your apartment?

Was it in El Rincon?

Did it have light brown and white exterior?

Well..................................

scroll down.....................

it's. still there mate! Sorry to wind you up!!!!

Actually, the rain wa so bad, the Spaniards say, the worst for a long time, but El Rincon has faired better than our pad!

Your pads are on level ground, not like ours, so all the buildings in El Rincon survived unscathed!

Unlike us, lifts still out, leg muscles struggling!!!

Kin regards, (I Think!)

You know I did fancy a place the other side of the coast road, a few more down pours like that one and who knows.

Hi Spain Property Seeker,

I don't live in Costa Blanca, just own a holiday home there.

If you are specifically looking to buy on the Costa Blanca, search around all the threads.

There are lots of people who will be happy to advice or guide you on your purchase and living in the area.

I wsh you good luck.

Kind regards,
