Hi,

Is there anyone out there who has done this in person recently and can give me a clue as to how to do it.

I do not want to use a POA, preferring to get the number myself in person.

I am told I need to go to Cartagena Police Station. Is this correct, the property I am purchasing is in Murcia, close to Puerto de Mazarron.

Would appreciate any help anyone can give me please.  Thank you in advance.

Noonoo

I live in Murcia.

You do need to go to the Police station in Cartagena.

Expect a long wait in the queue, so go early

Although you can do it yourself, we used a Gestor, to speed things up

You don't need  poa. I haven't done it recently, I'm sure others who have will tell you

The application for an NIE , or registration on the EU Citizen’s Register,  must be done in the Extranjería of the National Police for the area where you are living at the time, not the area where you are saying buying a property,  if that is in a different National Police Area.

If in doubt this may help:      http://www.policia.es/documentacion/oficinas/oficinas_extran.html

('clicking' on the part of the map where you are living/staying takes you to the info for that area)
