The first new UK TV satellite has been in operation since December last year - carrying C4HD, Fives, and some ITV1 regions.
The second new satellite, 2E, has only just arrived at the launch site. It is expected to be launched mid July, and be operational September. 2E is expected to carry the BBC ITV C4 channels, and so depending where you are in Spain, and what your current dish size is, your reception may change.
Does anyone know the latest accurate forecasts for UK TV reception here in Spain, for 2013 onwards?
Until the new satellites are operational, no-one can be sure what reception will be like. Anyone saying "we know" are only speculating and guessing. Some say the 2E satellite will have the same reception as the first new satellite (2F). If so then if you can still get C5, then you will be OK - they say. - assuming 2F and 2E are identical and positioned in space the same.
But you will not loose ALL UK TV channels, as the new satellites, like the old, have UK and European beams - with the European beams being easier to receive. BBC ITV C4s and Fives are expected to be on the UK beam, and the majority of the rest of the channels are expected to be on the European beam
But it will not be over then, as new satellite 3, 2G will be launched next year.
Follow the link, go to Astra 2E, and you can see the "PREDICTED" reception maps. However these can be and are often wrong - as shown by the fact that in the Valencia area we can get 2F on an 1m dish and have seen little change in reception with the first new satellite.
