Hello, my wife and Hi wish to move out of our UK rented flat, live in our campervan, and trade at carboots and markets in UK March until Sept, then drive our campervan down to spain, and live on a camperpark in our van for around 5 months and a week, just on holiday, and then go back to the UK, would I be ok to do this with a UK insurance and UK van, Thats of course mot and taxed in the UK, sorry to ask but its so confusing with regards to vans and cars.

I think you'd need to contact your insurance company.  I know when I brought my car over the insurance company would only give me 3 months of use out of the country and I also had to pay extra if I wanted it to remain on fully comp.  When you take a vehicle out of the UK, it is only insured for the minimum requirements of that country, ie 3rd Party.  I also paid extra for breakdown insurance in Spain through Green Flag (because it was cheaper than AA).

thanks for your quick reply, were als oconsidering moving down to live. and just posted the following up.

Hello everyone, I have a few questions about moving down to Spain, I myself have quite a medical condition, and am on disability living allowance. My daughter and grandson moved down last summer, and we want to be with her.

I work from home in the UK self employed as a writer, I live of my earnings from my books I’ve published, my question would be, because my books are being sold from amazon UK, and I will continue to pay UK tax and national insurance on my UK earnings, and because my wife and my self will not be working in Spain, just living there, and all income will be derived from my UK earnings. Would that mean I would not have to pay the 251 euros Spanish insurance, or tax??

If I closed my UK bank account so that money I earn I earn in the UK went to a Spanish business account to save on fees, would I still be ok and not have to pay Spanish tax or national insurance. Or would I have to open up an offshore UK bank account for my UK earnings. I ask because I don’t know if I can keep my Co Op business account for my book earnings in the UK open if we make the move we so long for.
