12 years ago I took out a pension with Mapfre through a local broker . I was told that I could claim this when I retired. Easier said than done as I have now discovered.  I contacted Mapfre in Madrid ...no one spoke English but my son speaks Spanish very well and tried to tell them that I wanted to now claim my money. We heard nothing at all and we left it for 3 months. I have contacted the broker who I had other policies with throughout the 12 years and they have contacted Mapfre. I have eventually had documents to fill in and papers to sign. All these have been sent to them according to the broker ....still nothing.  We have contacted the local Mapfre office and the manager there doesnt really care about anything and just tells us to go to the broker again. Viscious circle!!!  I wondered if anyone else had this problem and how it was resolved--never again MAPFRE INSURANCE

I'm a bit surprised with your experience of Mapfre, they are a very big company.

If it was me I would probably head down to the local office and if they still refuse to help you then ask for the "libro de reclamaciones".  This will file an official complaint against them which will be investigated by the authorities.

Generally when you ask for this they do become more helpful as most don't want you to submit the complaint.

Let us know how you get on.

Justin

 Thanks for your reply....

I had an email from the broker today saying that she hoped that by next week it will be sorted out .  I told her the other day that I would contact the Ombudsman if nothing happened soon.  I never thought of the 'libro de reclamaciones'. If nothing happens by next week that's what I will do.  The paperwork that I have had to complete is unbelievable ...and its all been done weeks ago . Thanks again.
