Air Traffic Control Strike

My son and family are due to fly out for a visit in a couple of weeks.

He has just informed me there are reports in the UK of Spanish Air Control Strikes during August.

I have googled it and there does appear to be some possibility. The union has voted for a strike but the date seems to be in doubt, as they havn't yet finally decided. Apparantly they have to give 10 days notice by law. It will apparantly be for 3 days. Dates of 18th and 22nd August have been mentioned but nothing concrete. Some reports suggest it may happen, others that it won't.

All very confusing and just what we need right now.

Anyone out there got any concrete information.

Last week they voted to strike so using the  'at least 10 day's warning' thats were the original dates  18-20 th Aug seem to have come from. Then talks broke down and a decision wont be discussed until this Thursday which Rueters says then puts any strike date after the 22nd , if it happens. So, still very unclear what will happen and whose timescale is correct.

I heard on Spectrum radio today that the strike has been confirmed for 21 August.

Spain's air traffic controllers say they will not stage a threatened strike in August to avoid hurting tourism.

After a four-hour meeting Tuesday, the controllers' union USCA said it had decided to hold off on the stoppage in the hope the government aviation authority would resume negotiations that broke down last week.

It seems after todays talks the strike is off for August at least.  We fly on 15 August but are out till the 7 Sep so I hope we can get back!
